So I feel it’s necessary to start a thread for the IKEA monkey. You’ve probably heard about this already, but here goes. From CBC :
A five-month-old monkey that became an internet sensation after it was photographed running around the parking lot of a Toronto Ikea store is now in the care of a southern Ontario primate sanctuary.
The monkey, originally from Montreal, began trending on social media and became the subject of international news stories shortly after it was spotted by shoppers on Sunday afternoon. Images of the monkey, photographed wearing a stylish shearling coat and diapers, made the animal an instant media celebrity. …
The monkey was first spotted by shoppers at 2 p.m. ET as they headed into an Ikea store near Leslie Street and Highway 401.
One of the first on the scene was Bronwyn Page, an associate producer for CBC. She was heading into the furniture retailer to do some holiday shopping with her sister when she noticed a crowd gathered around what she at first thought was some kind of child’s toy.
When she got close, Page saw that it was a tiny monkey wearing a shearling coat and a diaper.
(I think the best part of this for me has been the foreign coverage: Encuentran en el Ikea de Toronto a un mono vestido con un elegante abrigo )
I get very upset sometimes about the fate of my country under a Conservative government, but then I think that this is still a wondrous land with things like giant maple syrup heists and well-dressed monkeys at IKEA.
I wanna be his date, after.

The adorable little guy, his name is “Darwin”, is now getting used to his new home at a primate sanctuary, along with his newfound fame as an Internet meme:

Especially thanks to Google Translate!
Headline: Ikea found in Toronto a monkey dressed in an elegant coat
…
It may sound like a joke but it is what may well hear in Ikea in Toronto, Canada.
…
And this Sunday, several customers were a monkey in this famous establishment of furniture
…
Yes, the monkey was actually a brush , with its cream-colored coat ‘sheepskin’, lest him to take cold

Heard the Ikea Monkey is a write-in for mayor.
Compared to our current mayor, he’s both better dressed and less likely to fling his own feces when angry.

Hey, I was at that very same Ikea on the very same day! I guess we came too late for the petting zoo.
Last time I was at Ikea, I only got a bookshelf.
If you think he’s scared think of the monkey he stole that coat from!

The monkey’s from my hometown (Montreal), apparently.
Well you know the most stylish Torontonians are all Montreal imports.
Darwin’s owner, Yasmin Nakhuda, wants her son back. I, uh, am not sure she’s got both oars in the water.
Seriously, that. Is. Genius!!
I can’t get enough of that IKEA monkey. Between all the meetings and bullshit at work today, I’d sneak a peek at him and bust out laughing. Now, I only wish it were just before Halloween, because I’d SO be going as IKEA Monkey. Yup, in a shearling coat and a diaper.
A year from now, Ikea will sell stuffed teddy-monkeys …in fabulous coats.

Thank you for posting this. I somehow managed not to hear about it. That photo of the gentleman cat saying he was supposed to pick up Carl is the best thing I’ve seen in a long time. I want to hug whoever made it.
All I know is that I’m stealing “stylish but illegal” for my tombstone.
