I’m a bartender and a waitress. When I’m short on cash, I bake and decorate wedding cakes for a friend’s catering company.
But I’ll be a lawyer in, oh, 5 or 6 years, hopefully.

Artist, fine art background: portraits, still-lifes, landscapes, and non-representational works in oil, watercolor, charcoal, dry pastel, graphite and ink.
And (currently) a toddler wrangler.
I’ve also held 38 different jobs over the years (before I started making $ as an artist). Don’t think I could answer a decent GQ about anything based on those experiences, but I can tell you what it’s like to work in a lot of different environments!
Medical student…I’ll be a qualified doctor in May (God willing).
I suggest no Dopers fall ill in Northern Ireland any time over the next year or two or, God help you, I could be your doctor.
I have Degrees in Microbiology and Chemistry, and am currently working in the Islet Cell Transplant Laboratory at Baylor. What I actually do is pretty esoteric, but I have to deal a lot with government (FDA) regulations, I have also held the following jobs:
Paint Chemist, R&D Chemist at a candle manufacturer, QC Microbiologist at pharmaceutical company, Research Associate on various lovely bacteria and worms: E.coli, S. Mansoni, C. elegans, M. tuberculosis,* H. pylori * and Y*. pseudotuberculosis*. I’ve also worked in an independent Microbiology testing laboratory, so I’ve tested everything from tabbouleh to diesel fuel.
I did these jobs to get my ass through college: Dog Trainer, Race Track Teller, Bank Teller, Nursery (Garden type) Help, Cashier, and Lab TA (Microbiology).
My husband is an engineer (optics), and his degree is in Mathematics.
Wow, another not-for-profit employee. Didn’t realize, swampy, hi there!
I work for a not-for-proftit that raises money to fund research to prevent prematurity and birth defects. We wish to ensure that every baby is born healthy.
I’m the AA, but more appropriately the office manager.
My SO is compliance control for an insurance agency - he along with a handul of others make sure they follow gov’t guidelines. As a result his department is not very popular, since their job basically consists of looking over people’s shoulders.
Passives component product manager
translation: I know more about capacitors (and to a lesser extent, resistors) then anyone should have to.
oooOOOOhhhh! I do enjoy your product! I have also been asked several times to transport quantities of your product across state lines to less fortunate beer drinkers.
Minor nitpick to Pasta, I do Dairy QA, I don’t care about diary quality or safety

Formerly:

Medical Technologist, Pathology & Laboratory Medicine Service for the last fifteen years.
Before that was Clinical Microbiology technician and before that was Teaching Assistant for beginning Microbiology.
I think I’m getting a little tired of lab work.
Now: Self employed videographer/editor (and going to Orlando in the coming months for more training) at night, substitute teacher by day.
Previously: Box spring assembly line work, temped for the shipping department of a Dell computer hub, furniture delivery/assembly, former tv news & promotions intern.
The training in Orlando is certification for some programs I never learned in school and therefore should make me over-qualified for a tv promotions position I desperately want.
Second-hand / Antiquarian book dealer plus also studying to become a professional bookbinder alongside that.
