October 18, 2025 "No Kings" Protests

Here’s an extraordinarily eloquent explanation for why everyone has to march and attend rallies. Pass it along to your friends who think they can’t make a difference.

Shocking revelation: everyone attending these protests is a loser or an FBI agent. And George Soros is paying for their signs.

Well, I can’t find my University of Michigan shirt, so what’s the yellowist item of clothing I own? A t-shirt with a giant image of a koopa paratroopa. :joy:

I just bought it for this year’s Halloween because my son is going as Bowser and me and his Dad always wear t-shirts to fit the theme because we’re that low-effort.

Beautiful.

Those of you who are attending rallies today, check in and let us know about the crowd size and mood.

If possible, post pictures, although I know that is problematic on this board because you have to upload to a photo-hosting site first, but if you can, we’d love to see them.

ETA, apparently there are quite a few demonstrations in other countries, too.

I’m nervous as hell right now. About parking! I know it’s going to be a madhouse, especially showing up late. This is definitely a face your fears moment for me. I think once I find a place to park, and find my friend, I’ll be okay.

The last time I protested was in NYC against Proposition 8 in California. That was 2008!

I’m in Paris and the No Kings rally started two hours ago less than half a mile from my apartment. My wife and I are staying away because we are afraid we might be asked when we reenter the US tomorrow what we did while in Paris. (My wife is a green card holder, so needs to be extra careful). Anyway, we can hear drums and such from that direction, but not a single police siren in two hours, which is borderline miraculous for Paris.

Was planning on No Kings in Mckinney this afternoon. But major thunderstorms are heading into North Texas, so pivoting to join the Plano protest this morning. Raise your voice, stay safe dopers!

Right? Of the 7 protests/demonstrations/meetings etc. in my lifetime that I’ve attended or tried to attend, I’ve only driven to 2, and 1 of those I couldn’t find parking for. Thankfully there is supposed to be one less than 2 miles away from me.

I watched all the videos on de-escalation, so hopefully that helps. I don’t expect a lot to happen in Ferndale, but you know right-wing radicals will be stirring up trouble somewhere, so it’s just a numbers game. But one of the reasons I’m not going to the smaller protests closer to me is that 1) I really think I need a friend, and my friend understands anxiety very well and 2) there is safety in numbers.

One thing I love about the No Kings rallies is they have safety marshals and people whose sole responsibility it is to de-escalate and call police. I think that’s very comforting right now.

We might go but may be restricted to driving by, honking and waving. My SO is confined to a wheelchair and I wouldn’t put it past the opposition to go all out Tommy Udo.

I’ll be on the fringes of the rally(ies) in Portland. My wife and I are in the city visiting some family and we have a couple of get-togethers with friends that we scheduled months ago – before we knew, or perhaps anyone knew about today’s rally.

Most of the action will be east of where we’ll be. While we won’t be able to participate I’m hoping for a huge turnout, and also hoping I at least get to see some of the marching. We’ll definitely be there in spirit.

I also wish I had known about this 10 days ago. It’s not yellow but I would wear it proudly in this city that I love so much:

They’re angry that they can’t find women, so they want enforced misogyny to take away women’s rights, and they see Trump as a vehicle to bring back misogyny which will give them power and control over women.

Been here at our local one. Good turnout. Maybe a few more younger generation than last one.

Also planning to go to another one at the not too far from here ICE facility that starts at 5.

I am on a ferry from Bremerton to Seattle. There are tons of protesters with signs heading to the Seattle protest

Bremerton is not a particularly leftist enclave

I’m going to one about a mile from my house in El Cerrito, CA. I’ll be carrying a sign with Trump’s picture and the words, “The Real Enemy Within.” I’m wearing a shirt that says, “Make Orwell Fiction Again.”

The No Kings rally in El Cerrito in June drew about a thousand people. The response from people driving by was overwhelmingly positive.

Ah, makes perfect sense. For different values of perfect and sense. Just more morons that can’t control themselves like the J6 traitors. And the traitor in chief.

The sign and the shirt are both really good!

I just drove past our local protest, several times. I honked and gave them double thumbs up.

It looks like half our town is there. It’s about four times bigger than the last No Kings event, and getting bigger. I was there only ten minutes into the protest. But I forgot to video them! I was too busy cheering and honking.

Just drove through a large and enthusiastic rally in Roseville CA. As I said earlier, I can’t participate, but I honked my horn a lot!

Favorite signs: democracy isn’t dying in darkness, the Republicans are murdering it in broad daylight.

If Kamala was president
we would be at brunch right now.

And George Santos does not pay at all
