I’m forever tweaking property fields in MP3 files I’ve bought online because I prefer that artists names are Lastname, Firstname. I’ve been doing this for years with no problem.
Lately an odd thing has been happening. Say I bought an album by John Smith. The id3tags says contributing artist as John Smith. Usually I highlight all X tracks in the folder and view detailed properties using Windows Explorer. There I erase John Smith and then type Smith, John and save. When I did this in the past I’d see the change show up in the file explorer. But now it has the effect of erasing every damn id3tag. Did Windows make some change to tagging that could explain this?
