Odd phone behavior

I noticed tonight, while calling my office, that as soon as the phone starts the call a little dot starts flashing right above the battery indicator.

So it looks something like this…(pretend the keyboard is signal bars)

:alarm_clock::musical_keyboard:41%:battery:

And right above the 1 in the 41% a little dot, maybe 2 pixels wide will start flashing as soon as an out going call is initiated and continues until disconnected, and only for the duration of the call or attempt to call. I can open contacts or any specific contact, or the dialer and it doesn’t flash, but as soon I hit that green button to start a call, it starts flashing. Anyone know what that is and why it’s happening?

Phone brand and model?

Oh, Samsung s10e

Ah, thanks.

So if I’m reading that ubergizmo link right, if you see the dot during a call, it means the phone is too far from your face (too far for what?) and you should move it a little closer. Then when the phone is close enough, the dot goes out.

Too far for the screen to shut off. Most (all?) modern cell phones shut off the screen when you have the phone up to your ear. I’m sure different phones handle it differently, apparently that model involves a blinking pixel.
