Odd preview problem.

So I was composing a response to the drive-thru Pit thread. When I hit Preview, it showed my post as I’d typed it, but the text entry field below (where my post was, where I could edit it) had the first few words replaced with a jumble of characters, consisting mostly of outlined squares. Since the previewed post was fine, I C&P’ed the parts that had been transmogrified and then previewed again to make sure I wouldn’t be posting gibberish. Again, the text got mutated: parts of the first paragraph were gone and the second and last paragraph was repeated three and a half times. I repeated that a third time just now, and this time only the first sentence of my entire post is there.

This is the third time this has happened to me. The last time was a couple months ago. I’ve never really tried experimenting to fix the problem. Usually I just wander away and come back later to submit the post.

I guess I’m just wondering if this 1) has happened to anyone else, 2) if it’s a known problem, and 3) if there’s anything that I can do on my end about it. (Not previewing is not an option. ;))

In case it’s important, I’m on a Mac running OS X. I’m on DSL, and currently it’s 10:40pm PST.

Off the top of my head, sounds like some sort of error between vB and Mac. I have a Mac myself and some web pages display as just rows of little boxes. (Some emails too, sometimes.)

Since vB was written for Internet Explorer, I’m not surprised that you might have some errors displaying pages.

I’m not sure why that is exactly, because mostly it works but only sometimes I see this error. Anyone with some cross-platform savvy want to weigh in here?

Who can be confused and amazed using any operating system.

Thanks, TubaDiva.

And I forgot to mention that I’m using IE 5.1.

I’m mostly curious about why the mangling of the post comes back different each time. I’m kinda fascinated by the apparent randomness of it.

Your guess is as good as mine.

PS Jerry reset the server this afternoon, so maybe that will help. Or not.

Now that’s the best piece of advice I’ve heard today.

Or maybe it isn’t.
