Rudy is very NY, more NY than almost anyone. Heart on his sleeve, unembarrassed to root loudly for his Yanks, Ripped up the Saudi Prince check because the Saudi Prince was a Dick. He is brusque and basically he is everything that people don’t like about NYC. To me he is everything I love about the city of my birth.
Mr. Powell is all class. He is a generic educated northerner. Few people know anything about his personnel life and where he was raised. Maybe the least disliked Black man in this country’s history. Republican’s respect him, Dem’s feel guilty if they don’t. He really is a great VP candidate and he is qualified.

I felt he managed to leave the Bush Admin with his honor intact. This is not an easy feat.

Well, if you overlook that little UN speech thing, and the piddling little war it led to. Strictly a misunderstanding, of course, cleared up immediately.
That *defines * Powell’s place in history and in the public eye now. On the day when his honor mattered most, he set it aside. There’s no way he can explain it away now, especially not during a campaign.

I think he could actually swing this. I also happen to believe it is true.
As I remember he was asking for more time before the war started to build a larger coalition. Cheney and Rummy seem to be the ones pushing for the rapid attack. They probably wanted to get in there before their intelligence data was exposed as a farce.
