I worked hard, had fun and made history.
Mostly because I should find out about my transfer tomorrow night.
Fingers crossed.

Clearly my fingers pissed off my toes which decided to cross themselves. Stupid foot cramp.
I know I blather on too much about Roxanna Fae, but I can’t help it. She’s so advanced for her age! At only 16 months, she’s already entered her Terrible Twos!!!
Last night was a tantrum fest of epic proportions, and it seemed to continue into this morning. I told Daughter last night that we need to designate a Time Out spot and start using it. Maybe I don’t want to retire after all… :smack:
Other than that, it’s a gloriously cool morning and I hate being in this windowless office, but such is life. Our big Labor Day weekend plans include mowing, since we were away last weekend. I’ve noticed leaves around here are starting to turn yellow, so raking time is near. Where did the summer go??
Happy Thursday!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis <snerk> 69! <snerk> Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 92 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. No real big plans for the day which is fine by me. I’ll run a couple of errands one of which is to get gas for the mowers and sundry other lawn equipment as ‘twill be needed by next mow time. Other than that, I foresee some quality cee-mint pond time. Sup shall be steak, baked N.O.T. and sallit cause I have a gnawin’ and a cravin’ for steak.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.
Happy Thursday Y’all!
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. More meetings today. :cries :
: ships a pallet of bananas to Ruble at work :
that will fix the cramps.
Been reading a blurby newspaper article where the reporter goes through some of the stupidest, snarkiest, or simply most confusing reviews of several famous Spanish monuments (he removes the profanity and reduces the amount of caps*).
Some of the remarks truly are of the “you really must have missed that whole month in school” variety, such as someone complaining about a lack of furniture at the Alhambra, saying that they didn’t like the Sagrada Familia because “it’s not in the same style as any other Spanish cathedrals :(+^” or the excessively baroque décor of a baroque cathedral (uhm…). But the comments on the article itself are worth a read too: “who gives a shit what some asshole wrote in a travel page?” Apparently you do, hon, or otherwise why are you writing a comment on the article?
IOW people iz weird.
Morning all. Took the garbage out first thing. Second thing will be raisin bread toast for breaking fast. Third thing…let me get back to you about it.
3 hours of soccer practice tonight, 10U and 12U boys. Weather looks good.
Press on.
You’re sending stuff to Da Jungle? ![]()
I at least hope you got 'em at Whole [del]Paycheck[/del] Fuds.
Yeah, I thought that if they needed something, they just began opening boxes.
Yesterday after work I hung the tracks for the deck-side doors on the catio. The hardware kits were for 36-inch doors (72-inch tracks), so I cut two feet of track off of each end of another hardware kit so that each door would have eight feet of track. I needed to add spacers to the 2x2s the track hangs from, so I went to the hardware store for a couple of eight-foot lengths of 7/16 by 1.5 inch hemlock. I completed one door and hung it.
What’s left to do:
[ul][li]Install ‘bumpers’ to the outside ends of the tracks so the doors don’t come off;[/li][li]Build a 4-foot wide door and hang it;[/li][li]Make the ‘latches’ on the doors;[/li][li]Fence the foot-wide section between a roof post and the house. (That side was the first side I did, so it needs tidying);[/li][li]Put all of my tools away;[/li][li]Let Tonka out into the new enclosure.[/ul][/li]Mrs. L.A. has PT this morning, and she’s visiting a patient this afternoon. Everything should be done by the time she gets home.
Actually it would be easier if he bought them and had Walmart ship them.
It is actually tough for us to buy things from our company and have them shipped to the building. When we do they have to come UPS. TPTB claims its something with tracking and loss prevention. I say its because they have watched the security footage of how we treat packages. ![]()
No; you have to remember the terms of our contract with the USPS. That part is THEIR job. Part of the benefits Uncle Sugar gives the folks beating the pavement with all this crap. ![]()
Blurf. We are still being told to prep for a hurricane. Dammit. It’s kind of hard to do from home which is where I am today since I already had approved leave. Luckily my area does not require a lot of prep.
Blurf
In a couple of my fed jobs in Jax, prepping the office for a hurricane meant putting plastic bags over our PCs. We felt safe, because if the roof blew off the WWII-vintage building, the magic of plastic would protect our data…

In this office, my PC sits on a 6X6 - I think that’s because one time, there was a bit of flooding in the building and they decided that keeping the computers off the floor was a good plan. Whatever - decisions made *waaaaay *above my paygrade.
Happy Thorsday!
It appears to be N.O.S. outside, 79 degrees now, going up to 81.
I was up at 4:30, am tired and need a nap.
Going into day four of a new roof on our house. What a mess! There were 5 layers of old roof up there. Two layers of cedar(?) shingles and 3 layers of asphalt. Three is the max allowed. The guy who put our last roof on 30 years ago told us there was onlt 2 layers and we were okay with another over top. Ya tink maybe he lied? :dubious:
Temps have been close to or in the 90s this week. Yesterday I went out and told the guys to put plastic over the exposed area before they left and they gave me ‘the look’, but they did it. Good thing too. It rained last night. With thunder even.
Vinnie and Gibbs are in puppy jail, but we’re getting them out tonight. Hopefully they’ll have the back yard cleaned up some by quitting time.
I haven’t gotten my daily message from the woman telling me that my social security number has been suspended and if I don’t call her back RIGHT NOW a warrant will be issued for my arrest. Or something. I wonder if she’s alright?
Happy Thorsday!
Exactly mommmm. We pick all the computers up off the floors and cover them with large trash bags. My building does not have shutters or even plywood so dragging in the outdoor trash can lids and covering the computers is about all I can do to prepare. At least we got a new roof after Irma.
Ain’t nobody got time for no dang hurricane.
I’ve run out of work again, but it’s just 15 minutes to quit time, so I sent out an email asking for work on Tuesday morning. Here’s hoping someone responds. Otherwise, I’ll have to dust and tidy my desk.
ETA - and just that fast, Tim came thru!!
I have no official word yet but --------- I just got offered extra work at 3am.
My section of Da Jungle doesn’t have anything at 3am.
Now my attention is peaked.
Got my new driver’s license today - yay! The picture is absolutely horrid, but then I had my RBF on.
Supper will be burgers and fries. Exciting, huh?
Hubs is back in A Fib dammit. Shocking scheduled for the 9th in Miami. I can’t help but be mad that every time this happens it’s when he is overly tired. And this looming hurricane. Giving me Agita. We are nearly in the cone but the European Model that is normally more accurate has it staying South. Please Lord move it north. Yesterday I bought a traveling soft sided crate on FB Marketplace for Buddy. Got it for a very good price.
I just don’t think I am going anywhere even if ordered. I will clear out the biggest closet as a safe room. We just got impact windows and still have accordion shutters installed. My house did well in the last Cat 4.
Hope every one is OK. Rosies sig
