* * * ! Official 2016 US Presidential Election Day Thread ! * * *

It’s all gone. Faith in humanity? Humanity would have to exist for that to be an option. It clearly doesn’t exist. Politics is just gone, gone, gone. Good riddance. Best to all of you. I’ll see You in MPSIMS.

I know it’s a cliche but, I’ll say it. This is what the terrorists wanted. And stupid Americans gave it to them.

Well I’ll be damned.

I can’t think of a more appropriate username in this situation. :frowning:

Someone on FB said that Clinton has conceded. I don’t know if it’s true or not. I was hoping for some recounts.

Wow. A Republican President, a Republican House, a Repubican Senate and a conservative majority to be restored in SCOTUS. Who would have figured? I made no secret of my contempt for Trump but I have to hand it to the guy, he delivered for us conservatives.

My mom just called me to warn me not to criticize Trump on social media, for fear of consequences on the part of those who will be in power. I get why, and I get that she’s concerned for my well being, but at the same time, I can’t help but think, fuck that. If jackbooted thugs do knock on my door because of what I said on Facebook, then all hope is already lost, and keeping my head down isn’t going to be much better.

Well, that depends. Some conservatives opposed him BECAUSE they didn’t believe he’d do anything, or enough, for conservatives. We’ll see, I guess.

If Trump wins less than 300 Evs, he won because he won the Cuban vote. Ain’t that something?

She phoned Trump to congratulate him.

In two weeks, we can proudly watch our new President go on trial for fraud.

The stupid won. After the next four years, I doubt we’ll make that mistake again, assuming we are still having elections here by then.

I totally agree. Trump has achieved what seemed impossible. Republicans have firm control of power.

I hope he reaches out to Speaker Ryan. Time to roll up their sleeves and start getting stuff done.

Oh come on, let’s keep a little perspective here. Half of America will be on social media lambasting Trump.

Well, to be fair, I think she was also concerned about social repercussions from Trump supporters who’d look me up, like potential employers. Though your point still kinda holds there. She is a worrier, for sure.

Yes we most certainly do like and need the rest of the world, except outright blatant evil.

More than half of the election-related posts will be lambasting Trump. That’s the nature of the internet. Lots of negativity out there.

Not call him out on social media? Whoever cuts off the glowing orange testicals and mails them
to me wins my CA condo. Pink slip is ready. Sorry about the carpet. Recent spewing, ya know.

Fuck.

Said the weatherman who predicted sunny skies and got Katrina instead. Weak defense, man.

Take heart, nobody wants you to come to harm for your political opinions.

Yes, I gave the American people–in presidential cycles, anyway–way too much credit after 2008 and especially 2012. Mea culpa, I guess (though I would love to hear *you *explain how 2012 happened and then this, four years later when Obama’s more popular than ever). Not sure how that has anything to do with my defense of Nate Silver. Maybe you don’t understand that my predictions were implicitly calling Silver way too cautious, way too bullish on Trump. And I’m saying I was wrong about that (like a lot of people, including Sam Wang and other forecasters), and that Silver deserves credit.
