Official 83rd Academy Awards thread

Marisa, If you’re ever short a date for the Oscars, I’m available.

Best Makeup: The Wolfman!

I actually saw all 3 of those movies. Worthy nominees.

Yay The Wolfman!

So, is Rick Baker able to build a house out of all his Oscars yet?

Best Costume Design: Alice In Wonderland - Coleen Atwood

I saw all those movies too. Worthy nominees.

Wolfman gets the oscar! I’m satisfied for the evening

I suspect True Grit is gonna get shut out. Too bad, but it seems to be one of those years where, while it’s certainly worthy in several areas, it ends up falling through the cracks.

I don’t care if you wrote The Gettysburg Address. If you just go up there and stare down at a piece of paper with a written speech on it and read, it’s going to be the worst “speech” of the night.

Cate Blanchette’s dress looked like something you’d set a drink on.

Shit, STOP with the music! Man, just look at Atwood’s filmography over the years!

Hollywood’s a major union town. The actors, the directors, the behind-the-camera crew, even craft services, are all unionized. I’m not surprised Wisconsin’s getting a lot of shout-outs.

I almost said the same thing after the screenplay award but decided it was too early to give up hope. Oh well.

Hey, the president and I have the same favorite movie song!

Alice in Wonderland is beating King’s Speech for # of Oscars so far. Chew on that.

Wow Obama! Kevin Spacey is awesome!
God I hate Randy Newman. His voice just grates on me.

Hah - reminded of Family Guy by Randy Newman. Very forgettable song.

Yeah, makes sense. I’m digging it. Seems a lot more meaningful than the standard self-congratulation of these things.

I hate that for True Grit. I loved that movie and was hoping it would win something! It won’t beat either King’s Speech or Social Network for Best Picture for sure, and no one can beat out Colin Firth…
In some ways I liked it best of all the Best Picture nominees I’ve seen.

I thought that was some kind of ad, especially when I saw Pres. Obama.

Kevin Spacey was adorable!

Luuuuv Randy Newman, although I always confuse this song with the other “We Belong Together” by the Rev. Horton Heat.

Diction, Mandy, diction, sheesh.

Anyone else surprised that Chuck can sing?
