This reminds me of the time back in 1992 when Cecil and I were attending the Barcelona games. It was the night after Shannon Miller won the bronze medal on the balance beam. We were eating dinner late in a small seafood place in the Gothic Quarter, when Cecil, who had the audacity to be carrying around one of those early brick phones, gets a call. It was Betsey Wright, close aide to Bill Clinton. She said that Bill, who had just accepted the Democratic nomination a week or so before, was wanting to decompress before making the final kick towards the election, and was inviting Cecil to meet up with him and a few other people at Greg Norman’s place in Florida. Cecil, politely declined and we drank grappa for the next several hours.
