Thank you, Hastur, ex. ::sniff:: I will stand by my OP. What can I say? I guess i’m really really into vampires and all that stuff…
As for the remake of “People Are Strange” I found myself enjoying it. I like the original a lot, too, but basically nothing except for the vocals were changed about it. So I really didn’t have any problems with it.
I saw it in the theater when it first came out, and when Igot home (lived in the country then) that walk from the car to the front door was very intimidating!
I also bought the sound track, but that was a long time ago.
I haven’t seen it, so I can’t share any input, though it doesn’t suprise me that you’d like a movie that alot of people hated. After all, you’re looking forward to seeing the “Lady and the Tramp” sequal. Yuck.
Now, I’m not a vampire freak–I think the world can happily go on for another couple generations without one new piece of vampire-themed fiction, but this remains one of the films I’ve seen lots of times, and can happily watch more of. The Frog brothers remind me of one of my childhood friends. And of course Grandpa kicks ass.
Only one thing I never could stand about this town…all the damn vampires.
I’d say The Lost Boys represents the pinnacle of the Corey Haim/Corey Feldman phenomenon, which isnt saying much. Not a bad flick, certainly watchable, but it doesn’t even compare to Shadow of a Doubt. That is a classic in Hitchcock suspense with superb performances by Joesph Cotten and Teresa Wright. The Lost Boys seems more on the level of those 1980’s movies where a rag-tag group of campers beat the rich kids at their own game, only with vampires. In my mind not exactly inspired film making.
Btw, the theme from The Lost Boys is called “Cry Little Sister” by Gerard McMann.
Now Jester, come on. My iconoclasm in terms of movies is to be prized.
Anyway I was talking to another friend of mine, and she said she and everyone else she knows loved it. Course she is really into indi flicks, but anyway.
Okay now let me indulge my sweet Zoggie self w/ some quotes…
*A billion Chinese people can’t be wrong…
We don’t ride with vampires.
Then you stay here.
Now we ride with vampires.
She’s one of them, Michael, and don’t say that doesn’t make her a bad person!
You’ll never grow old and you’ll never die. But you must feed.
I’m going to bring some of my work over to the Widow Johnson.
What’d you stuff for her? Mr. Johnson?*
Dr. Lao, please to correct me if I’m wrong but didn’t Charlie Sexton do Cry Little Sister? I think so…
I loved Lost Boys when it came out, though that might have been because my g/f at the time loved it. I was such a puppy back then! But Zoggie, I think I will have to give it another look.
