Yesterday being the last day of school until January 3rd, it was like a Friday for us. People walking around wearing santa hats and handing out candy and gifts to each other.
So now it’s just me, my secretary, and a couple of the office staff. Most of the rest of this week, at least 2 people are off each day. Both Friday’s are official half-days.
Today is the Bus Wife’s birthday, so I’ll take advantage and run out to get a couple things and a card. Maybe run to Cingular to get her SIM card dropped into my old phone, then stop at the grocery store on the way home. I figure with all that running around I’ll still make it home by 2 or so.
Tonight the Kid is making something called Mexican Deep Dish Pizza for her mom. She’s done it before. Interestingly enough, Rachel Ray’s 30 Minute Meal took about an hour, but what are you gonna do?
Meanwhile, I’ll clean up some files, back up to the network, play here a bit, maybe burn a couple CD’s from my holiday music folder here and get on my merry way.
Yeah, it’s pretty dead here, too. Those of us who are here are not exactly in high gear, either.
And of course Rachael Ray’s 30-minute meal took an hour. Unless you’re someone with the energy levels of Rachael Ray or Jordan from Real Genius, that’s to be expected. She’s a good cook (and cute!) but some days I just wish someone would slip a valium in her coffee.
And to be fair to Rachel, her recipies do take 30 minutes. If everything is prepped, cleaned chopped, arranged, the oven is at the right temp, etc. The shows and the books fail to tell you that little handy piece of info…
And Mr Bus Guy, for those of us living vicariously through you, go back to the mall!
Yeah, it’s not like summer for us. This break and spring are really and truly just time off to catch up and relax. No big changes occur between the end of December and January 3rd. Summer on the other hand, at least after the first few weeks, is a lot of work. Shorter days, we’re not here from 5 AM to 5 PM, but there’s a lot to do in the summer, and on deadline to boot.
But this? Phhhttthhpppt. Relax, kill time and wait for the 3rd.
