I thought she had like a month to go. Congrats to Tanookie mommy!!!
Nah, grumpy or not, we all missed ya, dude.
And mucho congrats to tanookie and fam!
Hey ya’ll… Glad to see you back again Dave.
goes to lay back down and finish recovering from mild food poisoning
awww, Dreamer, that’s no good … hope you feel better soon!
Awww, {{{{{Dreamer}}}}}! I got food poisoning several years ago from a sausage sub. I REALLY sympathise, dear!
If you got the strength, talk to me, hon!
I guess a little catching up is in order. (That seems to be this whole thread, catching up.)
I just got back from the Women’s World Cup quarterfinal. Saw a good game, had a good time (and I can tie this back to the OP, I promise).
USA beat Norway, 1-0, but it wasn’t as close at that sounds. The Norwegians didn’t live up to their billing, didn’t even get off a really good shot all night, except their goalkeeper was brilliant. Several great saves, including a Mia Hamm penalty kick. She was named Player of the Match, which probably doesn’t go to someone on the losing team very often.
I got there in time for the second half of the Sweden - Brazil match. The Brazilians were sloppy. Is there some cosmic rule that countries that go out of their minds for men’s soccer (football) can’t field a good women’s team?
Some of the Brazilian women only had one name, though, which is kinda cool.
There was a group of very active Brazilian fans across the stadium from me. When there’s only 40 of them, it’s very entertaining. A stadium full of them would be a real two-fisted skull-clutcher.
I had a great seat, behind the Norwegian bench, six rows back. The lineswoman on our side of the field was drop dead gorgeous; looked like a tall Gwyneth Paltrow.
Daaaaaaaaaaaaa ddy!!!
Welcome home!!! did ja bring presents?
We missed you!!! ja bring me anything, huh? huh? huh?
Where ja go??? is there a present for me in your bag? Huh? can I go look?
Wanna buy a nose snorkel???
Bottle of hot massage oil?
Nice Sanitary Toothbrush?
Dave! Yay, you’re alive! I was really getting worried about ya.
And Robot Arm, you, too! How are ya? Pardon my ignorance, but where was the event held? A tall Gwyneth Paltrow? Sounds just like me! Well, except the tall part. And the Gwyneth and the Paltrow part. Other than that, I bet we could be twins. Or at least distant cousins on her aunt’s side.
And hi to everyone else, too. Maureen, glad things worked out.
Rocky, sounds like quite a trip.
And I have to say that tanookie really messed things up with this whole baby thing. She and lenore and I were planning to get together with the kids next week. Somehow after a c-section, I don’t think she’ll be up for a day in the park. Can’t wait to hear about new baby, though.
And if Wyatt’s getting a present, Dave, I want one, too. Otherwise it wouldn’t be faaaaaaaaaaaaaair.
Meeeeee fiiiiiiirrrrst!!!
Where’s Mine???
Presents!!!
Awww! You’re just not having a good month, are you?
Brings Dream Girl a glass of warm, flat ginger ale (sounds awful, but it’s good for upset tummies), kisses her on the forehead, and gathers up the kids and takes them in the other room, so she can rest
Yeah, I guess by soccer standards that’s a good game. At least someone scored. Y’know, the most exciting thing about soccer isssszzzzzzz…
pats Wyatt on the head Yes, I did. I brought you a brand new rice bowl that looks like an ashtray. It even says Club Ned in the bottom.
Well, I didn’t say I was alive; just back.
Yeah, that’s what I was thinking.
Uh oh. Ummm…here ya go, sweetie. Your very own tiny little bottle of shampoo! Isn’t that cute?
Pretty good, thanks. I finally got a job and I’m getting over a mild cold, I don’t know why I didn’t post about either of those when they came up.
The games I went to were down in Foxboro, the same place the Patriots play. (First time I’ve ever been there; nice joint.) The entire tournament is all over the country; the U.S. team had their first round matches in Columbus, OH, The semi-finals are in Portland, OR, and the final is somewhere in California.
The secret is not in the details; I’m very much a holistic, eye-of-the-beholder kind of guy on this subject, but I couldn’t just mention something like that without a little description.
How do you look with your hair in a ponytail, black shirt, shorts and knee socks, and waving a little orange-and-yellow flag? Not every woman can wear that and make it work.
Not everyone’s cup of tea, that’s true; and it’s better in person than on television. But once you can follow the battles over the ball, watch the team play the ball up or pull back and regroup, it starts to get more interesting.
Thanks everyone. I’m so much better today. It’s nice to be out of the fetal position. LOL I was living on warm, flat 7 up yesterday. Gonna clean out the fridge today too. (Darn that bad lunch meat!)
So, Dave, what’s in that bag for me?
RobotArm! Good to see you back guy! I’d much rather watch sports IRL than on TV… if for no other reason than I can people watch at the same time.
Oh, and 6, you have mail.
Robot Arm! I thought we lost you way back on page 25 or something! Welcome back.
I was wondering about Tanookie… I haven’t been good at keeping up with the boards lately. Thanks for the update Dave, if anyone hears anythign , please post so we know she and the baby are all right.
dannyv - mail me ysatis32@yahoo.com and I will give you some ideas about Italy.
…morning, everyone. Sorry I missed the party last night. But not very, I took the monsters to the A’s/Sox game instead, and a good time was had by all 'til around the bottom of the 10th, when my daughter started falling asleep in her chair. We ended up missing the sac squeeze in the bottom of the 12th that ended the game. Tejada didn’t do anything spectacular offensively, but saved his team’s collective ass on more than one occasion. Made an incredible play in the second that FBMC is STILL going on about
And speaking of the game…you still talking to me, dear one? If you were only about 3,000 miles closer, I woulda taken you. I’m not an A’s fan (shhh…only dannyv knows the retribution I could get for saying that out loud) and I was actually kinda pulling for the Sox; I’ve decided I’m in lust with Kevin Millar. He reminds me of you. Cocky as all hell.
Hey!! Has anyone heard from Jaade? I emailed her a couple times, but no response…I hope everything is alright. Rocky, if you hurt my big sister’s feelings, I’ll beat you bloody.
No news updated from Parallax on tanookie’s baby?
AAARRRGH!! I soooo don’t want to be here today. Sorella , what do you say we head out for Como? I’ve had enough of California.
I with ya’ on that one. I sooo miss Italy. Do you have any idea what Italia is like in the Autunno? Crisp and cool and beautiful foliage. Ahhhh…I could soooo go for an afternoon bottle of some nice red wine.
Maureen and mipiace can i come? if you wait until my classes are over, i might even be able to understand half of the flirting that mipiace does with the *crisp and cool and beautiful * ummm foliage. yeah that’s it.
Maureen - i won’t tell that you’re not an A’s fan if you don’t tell i’m not a Giants fan…
Not an A’s fan? That’s easy … but Pleeeease, even though you’re in the East Bay, Pleeeeeeease tell me you’re not an Al Davis fan!!!
(or his team)
Hi everyone!
~smootchies~
I’m sorry I’ve been away for a few days, I know there is a lot to catch up on,so I was trying not to post til I actually had time to sit down and do it right. Maureen honey, I haven’t even checked my email, if you can believe…
I’ve been out doing things every night this week, and watching the Braves the past two nights…anything to help me get over Rocky…~sniffs~
I will post later, hopefully tonight after work when I should have plenty of uninterrupted time.
~J
Wyatt - i’m on the peninsula, so i can get away with not being an al davis fan. used to yawn with the 9ers, but can’t be troubled to even do that anymore. especially the way it’s been the last few years.
i guess i prefer sports that i’m playing in.
