So is Chuck leading the revolution, or stamping it out? Is Chuck Spanish for “Che”? If I make the Che t-shirts with Chuck’s face, can I sell them on E-bay without the risk of lawyers?
Che would kick chuck’s ass.
Especially if who has the cooler beard/mustache and hat is indicative of fighting ability.
This is a common argument that I really don’t see as legit. As far as they see it, Bush did nothing wrong, ever, in his administration; he was doing everything he could to defend the country against evil terrorists who wanted to kill Americans and destroy everything they held dear. Obama, as far as they’re concerned, IS the country-destroyer who wants to enact policies that will lead to absolute ruin, so of COURSE it’s their duty to oppose him, with force if necessary.
So I don’t see how their position, as ideological as it is, is even internally inconsistent. Can someone show me where my logic is wrong?
Formatting mine. Because Bush actually was what they fear Obama to be?
A lot of us felt he was anyway yet we were told to fall in line.
They can take their own medicine, or be revealed for the hypocrites they are.
Go infiltrate one of their gatherings wearing one. That’d be great! Take some to sell. You’d probably make a good chunk of change for the evening.
I don’t have the stomach to watch these, so I can’t vouch for their contents, but I’m told they’re videos about the movement.
Have fun with your local militia fighting the black helicopters/UN/NWO/ZOG/Illuminati/ whatever. Seriously, why is the mood suddenly so ugly? We’ve had a Negro in chief for a couple of months and the crazies are freaking out?
I wonder how these right wing nut jobs would act if there was a ‘leftist’ organization advocating the violent overthrow of the duly elected US Government. Oh wait.
New SNL skit, maybe they can get Bill Murray to do it, Quien Es El Mas Batshit? Glenn Beck O “Che” Norris?
Because they are a bunch of hypocrites.
Hmm, there’s some coded language in that article of Chuck’s. Cell group is straight out of the evangelical megachurch lexicon. Cell groups are what you have in individual homes mid-week to make up for the fact that your “pastor” doesn’t know your name or anything about you, you’re just one of 10,000 faces he can’t actually see in the glare of the stage lighting.
There’s little question to me that Chuck was trying to bring the evangelicals into the fold, who are intrigued by the political message but wary of the fact that it comes from Glenn Beck, who’s Mormon.
All these strange bedfellows are really getting on my wick.
Ah, Polecat…still as batshit crazy as ever. Tell me, given that the current president has only been in office for two months, just WHO are all of these people angry at? I hear one of the men responsible for this mess just moved to Dallas. Are you folks going to be doing your little protest in front of his gated neighborhood? Or, more likely, are you all going to be playing follow the leader with a chop sockey film star who has apparently been swallowing his own deliberately over-the-top pop culture hype and protesting “liberal” institutions?
Fine. It’s many wingnuts on the lunatic fringe.
This is hardly some sort of new movement though; Colonel Bo Gritz has been talking about something along the lines of Chuck’s redneck rebellion for years.
The guy two houses down, the one with the “no trespassing” sign on his driveway, has taken to flying his American flag upside down.
It’s been that way ever since the election, and he leaves it out rain or shine, day and night.
If there were a flag police, I think I’d call them.
Interesting information tumbledown. Thanks for that.
Edit to add, thanks pravnik, for that information about Sam Houston.
For all my snarkiness, and I do think most of these people should be mocked and marginalized, I am with some others here who worry too. It only takes one crazy to change history, and usually it’s not the noisy loonball who is the most harmful, it’s the loner who seethes and plots in silence. Already President Obama has received more death threats than any president in history and for every one who says something, how many more are there who don’t? The Secret Service is so swamped that they’ve asked for help from the FBI.
I wasn’t kidding when I praised the Patriot Act. If that thing, and it is a horrible thing, helps protect President Obama and his family, more power to it. The idiots who praised Bush for it, thinking it would help root out terrorists and traitors, can suck it if it’s now turned on them.
At least President Obama wouldn’t throw any of them into Gitmo, to languish without a trial.
It makes me sad that Chuck Norris has come to this. I remember when I was just a kid with asthma, and these bullies would always tease me, I would fantasize about Chuck Norris and me fighting them together. And then my teacher’s uncle, who was a cook and also a karate master taught me karate. I got so good I was competing in a tournament, but I needed a partner. Chuck Norris was there, and joined me in this competition so we could fight alongside one another!
They’re angry at Wall Street, they’re angry at illegal immigration, they’re angry at the Democrats and Republicans, they’re angry about their jobs being shipped overseas, they’re generally angry about a politial and economic system that seems to be wildly out of control and unresponsive to them.
Like I’ve already said, for at least the next decade or two I don’t expect a serious insurrection or revolution to succeed or even get off the ground. What disturbs me is that it isn’t just the lunatic fringe types talking this way, it’s people I would never have tagged as extremist or radical only a couple of years or even a few months ago.
Call me “batshit crazy” all you please, but more and more middle and working class whites feel badly alienated and are growing angry, and the current economic crisis seems to have accelerated this. Moreover, they are not delusional and have sound reasons for feeling this way. This deserves sober attention, not mockery.
[del]Simpsons[/del] Van Damme did it!
Well, a lot of middle and working class whites, God bless em, did buy into that Reaganomics horseshit.
Now that it’s come home to roost on their personal economy, it’s only natural that they should feel disillusioned.
No, actually, Chuck Norris did it. Funny thing, though…I’ve never pictured Hentor looking like Jonathan Brandeis…
Well, frankly, some of us have been telling them that they’ve been voting against their own best interests for decades now. Funny how the truth only dawns on them once the whole house of cards collapses. Funny how they seem to want to blame the current administration, which has only been in power for two months, for the current collapse, which began before the current administration was even ELECTED, let alone inaugurated.
I think he’s claiming that they blame the system, not Obama. It’s not an unreasonable assertion; most of the really weird non-Klan non-Nazi right-wing groups think some sort of eeeeevil cartel is controlling the world but don’t necessarily think it’s Jewish.
