Oh, Sweet Nothing - MMP

Two [DEL]victims[/DEL] volunteers! Marvellous!

Time for breakfast, cleaning, and then off to the doctor. When I get home, I’ll frantically tidy the livingroom and then Jim will be here for RCIA. gt, if we have no questions or disagreements about anything we’ve read so far, is that a bad thing? We had a heck of a time trying to come up with anything to talk about last week.

BooFae after a line like “you can’t stop me” it’s always good to add a “So There!” :stuck_out_tongue: The stuck out tongue smiley is, of course, crucial.

::Raises head from billing hell:: Thanks everyone for the well wishes for my dad. Seems to not be anything much wrong with him other than being really really old. About all we can do now is hire help to come to the Grumpus abode to do the heavy lifting that my mom can’t do.

Yay, it’s Friday even though I got to get this billing done by today cause I’m taking THREE VACATION DAYS next week so I’ll be off for the whole thing!

Hi, bumba! Good to see you here. Hi, scout, ashes, ems! Yo CHEESELOGS to welby, shibb, rue, and ex!! :stuck_out_tongue:

bobbio, I would have loved to have seen the maddie roll. What a riot!

Oh, arghhh! I forgot! I gotta do phones today, too.

Tupug

Damn. For the fourth time this week (Tuesday didn’t count, they didn’t open till 11 am), I forgot to run by the doctor’s office right after I got up to get a fasting blood draw. I was halfway through a cup of coffee before I remembered it. :smack: How can I make myself remember to do something in the morning sans coffee when I require coffee for my few remaining functioning brain cells to even begin to fire?

So I punished myself by watching Ugly Betty instead of working. I’m so hard on myself, aren’t I?

BooFae is a great name! I’d volunteer to do an OP the following week, but I think we may be out of town – we’re going to head out Portland/Seattle way and visit the mothers. It’s very convenient that although we live 3,000 miles away, our mothers only live four hours apart from each other so we can combine visits easily. So until we have the confirmed travel dates, I don’t want to volunteer for an OP if I’m going to be stuck with my mom’s yucky computer with yucky dialup. The Dope is slow enough with a FIOS connection!

Just because I know y’all are on pins and needles to read it, here’s the article in The Albeeeny Herald (Motto: If we ain’t got any news we’ll just make some up!) about the soldout Crimmus Ornymint.

But I don’t do smileys…there is whisper another board out there /whisper where I’m known as GrumpleMup simply for the lack of smileys…

BooFae the GrumpleMup

A new character in Potter VII?

Put a sticky note on the coffeemaker before you go to bed.

It’s a good name.

Do I want a Dyson, or should I permanently injure Bailey’s psyche by getting a Roomba? Wheninhell do you get Roombas, anyway? Best Buy? Wal-Mart?

Get both LiLi. That way you have a Dyson to clean with and a Roomba to annoy Bailey. What could be better?

Sounds more like a Fraggle, to me.

I’m so not keeping up this week, and I will accept my chastizement for that. But I have an excuse–a really good one.

Okay, I have no excuse. I haven’t even been working this week for National Novel Writing Month. I’ve done nothing. I’ve watched tv. I did a little house cleaning. I went to work and read webcomics. And that’s about it.

I know they have a website you, could check there. FWIW, I luuuuuuuuuuurves my Dyson Animal. Also, my dog doesn’t bark at it, like he did the old cannister vac.

MT, when you’re up here in the glorious PNW, wave hi to me as you’re head to Seattle. I live in Puyallup.

Bleah, still way too much work to do. I can’t seem to get caught up. Talk about multi-tasking!

MIL received a little more news on the cancer situation yesterday. Yesterday she had an appointment with her oncologist. He’s still inclined to want to go ahead and do the masectomy, but he wants to do some sort of nuclear procedure first. She has to see if her insurance will cover it. The procedure will tell the docs if they’re dealing with more than one type of cancer. If it’s only one, things are much more hopeful. Fingers crossed everyone…

I am so very glad it’s Friday.

Since I’m not getting any more cats, I can’t steal GrumpleMup as my next cat’s name, but if I did I would.

Does that make any sense? I’m still on my first cup of coffee.

My neighborhood is in transition - probably 70% of the homes are still lived in by the families who bought them brand-new back in the late 60’s. These folks, however, are dying off - we bought this house when my FIL passed away. Several of the homes close to me have been on the market for a few months, and one behind my house started renovation this morning. At 7 am. I was up reading the new King book until 3, so I was not amused. I really wanted to go back to sleep but it just wasn’t possible with all the hammers a-whackin" and the workers a-hollerin’. I am grumpy. I’m going to lunch at 12:30, then I plan to come home and try to take a nap before the game tonight.

This weekend sees a major event in Columbus - the “School of the Americas” annual protest comes to town, where a bunch of people with nothing much better to do come in and protest a school at Fort Benning which has supposedly educated soldiers from other countries to go home and kill priests and nuns. I’m not really sure why they protest here instead of D.C. where such decisions as the opening and closing of military schools are made, except I imagine the hotel rooms are much cheaper here. There will be a concert (the Indigo Girls performed one year) and many speeches on Saturday, and Sunday there will be a solemn funeral procession to the gates of Fort Benning, where a number of these people will cross over onto Fort Benning and get their butts thrown in jail. The number of people willing to go to jail to make a statement no one hears has increased every year I’ve lived here.

Another group of folks has started the “God Bless Fort Benning” celebration, which also has concerts and speeches but concentrates on thanking the soldiers. Former wrestling star Chris Jericho will be here tomorrow to sing autographs (I’ll pass, thanks) and all active duty military get discount at the Snakes game tomorrow night. The Snakes are going a special jersey they’ll wear this weekend with them being auctioned off on Saturday night after the game. I’m not even going to the auction - well, I may go but I can’t bid. :frowning:

I’m sleepy. Stoopid remodelers.

I NEED TO GO GET STUFF DONE.

I hate that.
buh-bye for now…

SCL, is the new King book good? I have to admit, I’d kind of given up on him because his last several books just weren’t all that good. Of his later stuff, I enjoyed Dolores Claiborne the most.

Snakes I forgot to mention it yesterday, but I whimpered a little bit when you mentioned Country’s BBQ. I lurve Country’s! I like it that the Snakes are doing the special jersey thing. Good on 'em! Also good on 'em for giving a special discount to military personnel.

Oh, piffle. Suggest something practical and useful, why don’t you. Grumble grumble…

Used to be there were antiwar protestors outside the gates of the military hospital where Papa Tigs works regularly, not that anybody inside ever paid attention to them - once in a while the media would stop by, but even they gave up on that quickly. Lately, though, the only people out there with signs are supporters. I guess they finally figured out that blaming the guys who are suffering from the results of the people downtown wasn’t the best way to make their point.

Our vacuum cleaning, which is a very nice Bissell, I must admit, appeared to partially die recently – the roller bar wouldn’t roll automatically, and I was really hoping it was some major expense so I could get that Dyson Animal I’ve been lusting over. Alas, it was an $18 repair. :frowning: But that’s okay, my Bissell works great at picking up the many, many pounds of dog hair. When I run it. Aye, there’s the rub.

One of my coworkers just ordered a Roomba today. The rest of us have told him he has to let us know how it works so we can decide if we all want our own too. He got it from woot dot com, and said it was significantly cheaper there than on other websites. No idea if they’d ship to Canada though.

Er, make that “from the decisions of the people downtown.”

Apparently even coffee isn’t enough to fire up the ol’ brain cells this morning. :frowning:

Taters, I’m enjoying this one more than I have one of his in a while. I admit to being a King fan; I’ve read everything of his including the nonfiction, but the last few just didn’t have the “tickle the monster under the bed” kick I’ve come to expect from him. This one does, to me. The only one of his books I really didn’t like was Cujo. I still think It ranks up there with The Stand as my favorites.

Swampy, I love Country’s. I think they are guilty of illegal advertising for the scents they put in the air - it’s hard to just drive past when you can smell the 'que cooking for blocks. Last night I tried their hamburger steak with onions & gravy for the first time and it was wonderful. Huge ole slab of hamburger steak with brown gravy & lots of fresh onions, with sides of collards and black-eyed peas. Damn near as good as my grandmothers!

I am looking forward to this weekend - I love it when we have lots of soldiers at the games and this weekend they usually bring in busloads of basic trainees. I have two jerseys from past military jersey auctions - an American Flag jersey and an “urban camo” (blue camo?) jersey. I discovered last season when I was on TV as “fan of the game” that the red, white and blue jersey looks awful on a redhead, but I wear it anyway. I’m wearing the blue camo tonight and the flag one tomorrow night.

Damn, I wish I could wake up! A nap this afternoon is definitely on my “to do” list.
