Oh, Sweet Nothing - MMP

Happy American Thanksgiving, everyone!

gt, this evening’s session went wonderfully. We had a really interesting conversation, he’s offered to hook us up with a discussion group of young Catholics, and he also suggested that we can be received into the church before Easter.

I love him.
I’ve got an MRI on Monday. I’m told that they’re claustrophobia-inducing and noisy. What fun.

Mr. Lissar wants a Roomba now, too.

MMP? Aren’t we more like a FEP by this point?

Oh well, I enjoy them all.

Oh, and** Lissla Lissar**, they are very noisey, I was surprised. I haven’t had one myself by I was in the room when my grandmother had one. They even give you earplugs. Use them.

Hello all, goodbye all.

Canes win! Atlanta loses! dogbutler insane with joy!
LiLi, MRI? What did you do to yourself? Congrats on RCIA. I’ll save you a pew at my parish.

Cool! Glad to hear it’s going so well. See, I told you you were ahead of the curve!

Oh, and hi, bbs2000! Well, yes, it could be an FEP, but that would mean we’d have to change names every day and that would get confusing.

GT

Snakes delivered a righteous ass-whuppin’ to Jacksonville tonight - final score was 8-1. I hope they saved a few for tomorrow night. At least two guys on the Jacksonville team were so new they didn’t even have nameplates on their jerseys - I hope J’ville doesn’t turn into the revolving door it was last season. It 's just not fair to their fans.

The guys wore the “God Bless Fort Benning” jerseys tonight - they’ll wear them again tomorrow night and then they’ll be auctioned after the game. The jerseys are so awesome - one of the best ever - and I am so broke. Anyone want to lend me about $400 for a couple of months? I’ll pay it back, I promise!

Talked to the team captain after the game and he agreed to write a piece for the next newsletter. The Booster Club will enjoy that.

Now I’m going to go take a hot bath and wind down for sleep. As much as it is possible to wind down after a 8-1 win and reading Stephen King. This nice glass of Bailey’s should help.

Which one? (meaning the book) I’m just curious.

I’m two thirds of the way through Lisey’s Story.

Gooooooooooooooooood Morning, MMPers!!! :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D Happy Saturday!!!

Yup, I’ve been up since about 5:30. I tried to fall back to sleep, but generally when I’m awake, that’s it. So I’ve taken Bernie out for her morning pee and poo, I’ve fed both critters, and now I’m reading what I didn’t have time to read last night. I’m getting tired of painting on the glaze ( I prefer class where we dip it) but I’ve nearly finished a kiln load - I’m hoping to load it tonight.

Last throwing class today. I’ve got 3 pieces from last week to trim, and enough clay left to make some stuff today. Thanksgiving weekend is off, and when we return, we have 2 weeks to glaze and class will be done. And Tina will be out of our lives (sniff sob) and I’ll need to get registered for my new class - yay!

Did I mention I’ve been accepted into the community college?? I’m going to take their series of ceramics classes - not for credit. Unfortunately, the brochure they sent me talks about taking SATs or submitting transcripts. Nothing in it or on the website addresses non-credit students. But I’m pretty sure they don’t need my transcript from Purdue in order for me to take Beginning Ceramics. I’ll call again on Monday.

Incidentally, our big storm seems to have knocked the vast majority of the remaining leaves to the ground. So we’ve got one big round of leaf mulch-vac-dumping to do and that will be that. Till next year. I’m thinking we’ll probably do a little tomorrow.

I need to check my cookbook for the pumpkin pie, peach struesel pie, and buttermilk pie recipes. I know I’m lacking some ingredients - I should stop on the way back from class today. Oh, and I need “real” cool whip. “Not that @#&^$@ in a can” as my sister so elegantly put in on my answering machine. Anyway, that’s my turkey day contribution - pies. By my mom’s last count, there will be 19 of us at dinner, so I think 4 pies is appropriate. Notice none of my pies involve chocolate - can you believe it??

Oh yeah, one more bit of big news - my kid got a job! Yay! She’ll be working at the Orlando Science Center about 20 hours a week, and she is really excited! No more waiting tables! Plus she loves science museums. And she should make some reasonable money since they pay better than minimum. She’s happy. I’m excited for her.

And that’s all the news that’s fit to print for now. I need a shower and I’ve got to gather all my tools for class. And make a shopping list. And probably more stuff… It’s so complicated being ME!!!

Yay for The Perfect Child [sup]TM[/sup]!

Howdy bbs2000! Stick around. We’re lots of fun up in here.

Have I mentioned twelve people will be at my house for Thanksgiving? Everybody brings stuff, which is jake. However, I am baking the turkey, making the dressing, cooking collards and most important of all making the gravy. As we all know, if the gravy ain’t right then nuttin’s right about the whole meal. It’s all about the gravy. I’ll prolly make a sweet N.O.T. pie cause I got a bunch of sweet N.O.T. (it just doesn’t get old!) I need to use.

We’re going for haircuts at some point in time today. Somebody is still snoozin’ and being as I’m so sweet I won’t rouse him, I’ll let him sleep til he’s all slept out. I’m such an angel.

Happy Saturday afternoon!

swampy, you’re far too kind. I kicked 'im indoors out of bed to go and make me a cup of tea…he knows I don’t function in the morning without it. I think he’s realised that if he wants something, tea is always a good place to start!

FCM, you and your daughter must be chuffed to rockets about her job, and it looks like a great place to work. My last student-type job was picking fruit during the summer break, but now we import Polish students to do it instead.

Last night was fun, we went to our local pub (The Newhampton) which was far busier than I’ve ever seen it. I think people were escaping from a particularly rubbish tv night - the BBC was doing it’s annual charity “Children in Need” thing that is televised for about seven hours. The other terrestrial channels have reality tv (“I’m a celebrity, get me out of here”, better known as “I’m a has-been, get me a career break”) or game shows so it was an excellent night to be out.

The Newhampton is a lovely old pub, the bar room has a couple of open fires and an rather uneven wooden floor, it’s a bit spit-and-sawdust that side of the building. Round the other side of the bar is the Smoke Room where we usually go - it’s got more seating, and bizarrely it’s the least smokey room in the whole place.

Last night’s guest beer was Marston’s “Pedigree” which actually wasn’t too bad although it’s not one of my favourites. The board over the bar promises that next weekend the guest beer is Springhead Brewery’s “Leveller” which is probably my absolute favourite beer, it’s like a pint of molten toffee…so the Newie’s on my list of things to do next weekend!

Today I’ll be heading into town and shopping for birthday presents, this coming week I have five birthdays coming up and the following week is my mum’s birthday. She’ll be getting her treats tomorrow when I go to visit because next Sunday she’s out with her hiking club.

Oh well, better get on, I suppose…tea doesn’t make itself and apparently it’s my turn to do the honours.

Mmm. I’m making tea right now, and I have scones I baked last night, jam, and double cream. A Nutritious Breakfast. I don’t function well without tea, either, BooFae.

Look, I’m up, and it isn’t even nine!
Thanks, dogbutler. Maybe we’ll drop in after Lent.

Don’t know what we’re doing today. Mr. Lissar has to go to work for an hour, but I dunno what’s happening after that.

I’m up and am not having tea, I’m having coffee. I do like tea though. It’s a beautiful fall morning outside, so I’ll take out the trash and recycling. I need dome breakfast first.

Good morning everyone. I’m up for good now. I got up at 4:00, then 6:00, and finally got up for real and stayed up at 8:30. I’m drinking my coffee, so hopefully I’ll be more fully awake soon.

Yay for The Perfect Child ! That is good news.

We’ll soon have a bed for a our bonus room. My Dad and step-mother have sold their beautiful home and need be out by the 5th of December. They’re going to moving into a brand new condo, but it’s not ready yet. At any rate, they plan on getting all brand new furniture, so we can have the one of the spare bedroom sets. They’re keeping the boxspring and mattress, but that’s okay. We can get a new set. So, now people will have someplace to sleep other than a couch or air mattress when they visit here.

Thanks for posting the recipe, gt. I’m going to make it sometime this weekend, I think.

I spontaneously went downtown and bought fabric for a dress. Now I know what I’m going to be doing for the rest of the day. I got four and a half yards of a black cotton knit with a little lycra. I want an ankle-length winter dress.

Mr. Lissar has mysteriously disappeared. He’s probably at the dojo.

OK…I’m home from holiday decorating the park where I volunteer. We had fun.

Yay on The Perfect Child once again living up to her name! Sounds like a very cool job.

Hope you like the recipe, Taters. It’s pretty flexible; you can add more or less spices and flavors to fit your taste.

Gotta do some work and then clean and do laundry. I’m going to wait until after kickoff to go out and run some errands; it’s guaranteed to be nice and quiet in most shopping venues during the game.

Happy Saturday!

GT

She was so excited, she called us just after she got the offer last night. It’s a temp position, just till July when the Body exhibit leaves - that’s where she’ll be. But if she does well, I expect they’ll keep her on for other exhibits. We’re hoping when we go down there for Christmas that we can see that exhibit.

Her last job was waiting tables, and she got sick of that long before she quit. She’s also worked at a car wash and at a roller rink, plus she has a very part-time job at the campus bookstore. I’ll give her this, she’s not a lazy kid! (Kid?? She’s 21? My baby is a grown woman-type person!!)

It’s been a good day so far. I stopped on the way home from class to get an oil change, and while they had my van, I went across the street and got my pie (and other) supplies. Within minutes of getting back, my van was done and I came home. I just finished a BBQ sammich and I’m going to start loading the kiln. If I need more pieces, I’ll do a bit more glazing. And I’ll fire it overnight.

I’ve got to clean my kitchen - it’s a wreck. I’ve got a dishwasher full of clean dishes, a sink and counter covered with dirty dishes, and all my ceramic stuff all over the breakfast bar. I need to vacuum the carpets in the rest of the house, and I’d love to run the carpet cleaner, if only to spot clean traffic areas. Mom wants her cleaner back when we go for Thanksgiving - I’ve had it for at least a month. Nothing like waiting till the last minute.

**FCD ** was going to lay carpet squares in his new office, but it’s so new to him that he’s not on any access list and security wouldn’t let him in. So he’s at the boat futzing around with wiring. He’d rather be doing that than floors anyway. And why was he going to lay his own carpet tiles? Because while his bosses would pay for the tiles and adhesive, they weren’t going to pay for installation.

Tomorrow is the biggest craft show in the area. We’re going to go see what it’s about and find out if I can get a space reserved for next year. It’s nearly impossible to get a booth at this show, so we shall see. If nothing else, I’ll steal ideas for my own booth displays.

And so shall go my weekend.

Hi everybody! Happy Saturday! Congrats to The Perfect Child for the job.

Yesterday we had a benefits meeting at work, so I went in for that. It was good to see everybody! Then we went to lunch and ate BBQ sammiches. They bought my lunch!

I’ve been to the store and picked up my free turkey 'cause I’m such a loyal customer and all. So it’s thawing. I’m gonna try Alton Brown’s recipe for brining this year, with a bit of help from Rick.

I’m excited to have Thanksgiving dinner. We don’t entertain much, and it’s always fun to have people over. I’ll be making too much food, as usual, and then we can eat leftovers for a week! I’m going to make a turkey pot pie, I think.

Well, I went to the eye doctor yesterday and got a checkup and new prescription and ordered a couple of boxes of extra contacts so I’ll be all set to go to Hawaii in January. We’re going where we always go, the big island around Kona, but we’re staying in a different place this time. I’m looking forward to it and Wifey is very excited. We haven’t been on a real vacation for 5 years.

I took the day off today and my work-experience lady is covering the store.
I have my choice of things to do: Clean out the refrigerator, mop the floor in the kitchen and bath, test the water in the hot tub, or get some more done on the wiring in the shop. Since Wifey can do the first 3 as well as I (better if you ask her) and only I can do the last, I think I’ll work on wiring.

We’re going to try your recipe GT, but we’ve decided to use yams instead of sweet potatoes. We’ll let you know how it turns out.

Oh, that ‘Democratssuck’ Google ad is back. I think it seriously violates the board rules against trolling and being a jerk, but apparently, if you have enough money to pay for it, you can ignore those injunctions.
Anyway, I’ve decided to alter my signature in kind, and I urge anybody else who’s sick of this in-your-face ashattlery to do likewise.

Hah! That did the trick Bumba! Now the ad is for “The Peace Company”.

Kitchen is just about mucked out. I need to finish putting some pots and pans away, wipe down the rest of the counters, scrub the sink, polish the cupboards, and then wash the kitchen floor.

After that, I need to head to the store to pick up some skim milk and fixin’s for tonight’s dinner, plus mushrooms for tomorrow’s dinner. We’re going to do beef burgundy in the slow cooker again. It turned out very tasty last time, but I’m going to double the recipe this time.

Am I good or what?? I had exactly the right number of pieces to fill the kiln. If I’d had another shelf, I could put more in - so I’ll be looking to buy another shelf next time I go to the pottery stuff store.

**FCD ** is on his way home. I’m thinking crab legs for dinner. That’s all I’ve got. I mean, to say. I’ve got more than crab legs for dinner. Never mind.

Except: Bumba, I am very jealous! I haven’t had a real vacation in longer than I can remember, and I’ve never been to Hawaii. have some fun for me, will ya? Oh, and I tried a bear bank in class today - we’ll see how he comes out. I wasn’t too impressed, but who knows…
