I read the Post article. The good thing is, they ran it in the Style & Arts section. The bad thing is, they gave her about a full page’s worth of print. There aren’t enough rolleyes in the world for the reply I want to give the Post.

And I’m a bit surprised the article didn’t discuss whether she had cited the classic political-persecution case of SPQR v. Yesu bar-Yosef.

Regrettably, the conduct of counsel Orly Taitz has crossed these lines, and Ms. Taitz must be sanctioned for her misconduct. After a full review of the sanctionable conduct, counsel’s conduct leading up to that conduct, and counsel’s response to the Court’s show cause order, the Court finds that a monetary penalty of $20,000.00 shall be imposed upon counsel Orly Taitz as punishment for her misconduct, as a deterrent to prevent future misconduct, and to protect the integrity of the Court. Payment shall be made to the United States, through the Middle District of Georgia Clerk’s Office, within thirty days of today’s Order. If counsel fails to pay the sanction due, the U.S. Attorney will be authorized to commence collection proceedings.

Reading the Comments at Huffington is fun.

I just read the entire order. Regarding the necessity of imposing sanctions and the amount, the judge wrote:

“A clearer case could not exist; a weaker message would not suffice.”

Beautiful! Classic language. That should go into the legal casebooks along with other classic judicial statements.

Plus, the judge wants the money to be directed to a foundation for the support of deployed troops (or something like that, can’t remember the exact name of it, I’ve already closed the window and my computer’s slow).

PLUS!: He ordered the court clerk to send a copy of the order to the State Bar of California, “to use in whatever way they wish”.

Have we had such pure comedy in public affairs, ever in recent history? Certainly not in my lifetime.

It became apparent during the hearing on the motion that the Court’s waiver of this local rule was a mistake. . .

As a footnote to how it should be that a President be removed from office, the good Judge added this footnote:

The Court does not make this observation simply as a rhetorical device for emphasis; the Court has actually received correspondence assailing its previous order in which the sender, who, incidetally, challenged the undersigned to a “round of fisticuffs on the Courthouse Square,” asserted that the President is not human.
