Isn’t it amazing how many criminals hang out at golf courses?
It’s all Greek to me. What does Babel Fish Translation has to say?
Better?
This gem needs to be repeated.
With most of his wealth gone, I presume he’ll be getting a different caliber of legal talent. It’ll be interesting to see how he fares with a public defender.
I had the same impression; however, if the other guy squealed him out and worked a better deal for himself, that’s pretty much SOP, isn’t it?
Also, that low-speed chase prolly didn’t help him much.
Funniest quote from the article:
“I’m O.J. Simpson. How am I going to think that I’m going to rob somebody and get away with it?”
I hope he goes to prison, all the prison “pretty boys” get a crack at him, and he dies in a prison killing or riot.
I cannot express my deep hatred for the man’s fucking smugness. I got four words for you OJ:
Johnny Cochran is dead!
Let’s see him assemble a crack dream team now. Maybe he can drag Mark Furhman into this one too.
Fucking asshole!
Discriminated how? He’s a huge flight risk, and the theory of the police is that he was the ringleader.
I thought that bail was a function of how likely the person charged with the crime was to appear for trial, and not a reflection of relative guilt.
At the end of this MSNBC video, the statement is made that he will have a bail hearing Thursday.
No wonder the gloves didn’t fit.
Oh, come on, he’d never try to flee. People might think he was guilty, or something.
There may be an emergency bail hearing today by 1 PM.
Emergency? What, did OJ suddenly get a lead on The Real Killer that must be pursued right now?
Maybe his passport expires tomorrow.
I just read the thread title as “OJ a Suspect in Vegan Break-In”.
(waves gun) “Gimme all your alfalfa sprouts and butternut squash RIGHT NOW, or somebody’s gonna get hurt.”
Can we please stop wishing for prison rape and murder on people? First off, it’s pretty damned crass if you ask me, and a call for vigilante justice, something I abhor.
More to the point, as a society we have an obligation to make prisons as safe as possible. Both from a practical and moral standpoint. If, society isn’t making something a capital crime, it has an obligation to ensure that prison, itself, doesn’t turn a sentence limited to a few years into capital punishment.
I admit I’m not perfect. The only other person I adhor to that level without any real justificaqtion is Woody Allen. I’m certainly not going to do anything nasty to either of them, but if something nasty does happen, I will take unmitigated joy in it.
Annie-Xmas, I didn’t mean to sound like I were defending OJ nor was I trying to attack you, personally. I do believe he go away with murder. And, like you, I’d probably cheer if he got zapped by a bolt of lightning. I understand and sympathize with what I believe to be your emotions towards OJ.
I just couldn’t let pass another call for prison rape or murder. It had far less to do with what I believed you really meant, than just making a stand against a bit of conversational hyperbole that I loathe.
Maybe he could stub his little toe. Really hard. No, I mean real hard, like they do in prison , yeah… that’s what I’m talkin’ about.
IANAL but I thought bail was also reflective of the seriousness of the crime. It seems to me the guy who brought the gun to the party may have committed a more serious offense that OJ. Maybe OJ knew he had it, or even asked him to bring it, but it’s at least as likely he did a dumbass thing like that on his own.
I’m just saying that the guy waving the gun around shouldn’t be walking. I don’t know why he is, and it seems like notoriety would be a factor here.
Neither of us are lawyers, so maybe one will chime in. The guy who is out without bail was arrested first. He is cooperating with the police, and in fact led them to the guns. I don’t know how long he was in custody before he was charged; it may have been the same amount of time as Simpson, who is denying that a crime took place or that guns were involved; and who is characterized by the police as the “ringleader.” They *are *being treated differently. It is not at all clear to me that this rises to the level of discrimination.
