I think the fifty-thousand charges (or whatever they’re up to now) is just ridiculous, and is probably going to help the defense. Basically, it looks like “The Man” is trying to get a second chance to put him away for the murders. I can sympathize with that mindset, but justice shouldn’t work like that. I don’t want to erode an important safeguard against governmental abuse just so O.J. serves 20 years in prison rather than 15.

I don’t sympathize with that mindset at all. The prosecution is supposed to ensure all pertinent charges are filed before going to trial, isn’t it? A fair number of those charges would be tossed out during a plea bargaining session, but the DA would catch grief for not doing his duty in the first place.
The forensic evidence against OJ in his double murder trial was overwhelming. The evidence against him in the armed robbery is, apparently, overhwhelming. (A videotape of the crime?!) He’s either the stupidest criminal ever to walk the planet or he really believes he is above the law.
Either way, he’s his own worst enemy, not to mention his poor children and the Brown and Goldman families, who’ve all had to live under the shadow of his notoriety for over a decade. He got away with double murder. There are so many paths he could have taken to try and redeem himself for committing that horrendous crime. He chose the low road. Is anyone surprised that, once again, he’s covered in slop? What a train wreck, what a waste.
Is he being treated unfairly? Probably. But “fair” would have put him in the electric chair, so I don’t think he has any fucking room to complain.

That’s the first I’ve heard of that. Where did you see it?
[QUOTE=PunditLisa]
I thought someone said on one of those news shows that the guy who taped it sold it to one of the news rags…Maybe I misheard him.

He sold (or gave) the audiotape to TMZ.
The confusion might have come from some posts (maybe not even in this thread) that mention that since this happened in a casino, it’d be videoed because casinos video everything. That’s not quite true, they don’t video the inside of the hotel rooms.
The fact that it was audiotaped is being tossed about as an indication that it was a set up, but I don’t pretend to know the details of that line of thought.
