OK, Beeyotches, You've Made Up My Mind For Me

Of course. Because reasonable people can only think one way about issues. Questioning the Leftist Line is akin to having no ideals at all.

When have you ever heard me issue a personal attack on any candidate? I’ve been a member here since 1999. When I have slammed a candidate for a personal issue?

Can you make that claim?

Yeah, those lefties sure have the market cornered on thinking their way is the only true way.

Um… you know I’m Bricker, not Starving Artist, right?

You’re a fucking idiot.

My position on that is that the only person who ever brought it up is McCain’s campaign manager, who says that several members of the media brought up such a possibility in an “off the record” luncheon. He won’t name names, of course, since it was “off the record” (which apparently doesn’t mean what he thinks it means).

Oh, and I always enjoy reading your posts, Bricker, but I admit I rolled my eyes a little every time you said you were considering voting for Obama. Not that I think you were lying or anything; I just think you overestimated your own open-mindedness. Like I was going to say in your other thread, it’s possible to be open-minded and to accept that your idealogical opponents hold their beliefs honestly but to still believe those beliefs are total bullshit.

But if McCain wins, I hope you enjoy your little dance. I suppose someone should get some joy out of it.

Rick, dude.

I don’t have the inclination to actually start debating your politics. It’s a futile excercise and as an international onlooker I don’t get a say in the election anyway. I’m not going to convince you, make you change your mind. You have made up your mind and that’s that.

What I find sad, though is that you present yourself as Hispanic, a lawyer, a conservative Catholic, in no particular order. But this is the first time I’ve seen you present yourself as a Troll.

But I guess the responses here really are feeding you.

I can kinda sympathize with the OP. Kinda.

I’m what I like to call a “weak” Obama supporter. I like the man, the way he thinks, and the way he seems to really dig into issues and have thoughtful proposals. The thing is, I probably agree with McCain more than with Obama on most issues. I think both would be fine as president, but I just like Obama’s decision making process a lot more. And their positions on the Iraq war are a big factor. That’s the 800 lb gorilla of an issue that overshadows almost everything else.

Now, getting back to the OP… I cringe everytime I log onto this board and see the nonsense coming from the Obamamaniacs here. I hate being associated with them in any way, but it really would be silly and childish to change my vote because of that. Besides, there are plenty of brain-dead McCain supporters out there even if they’re not all that well represented on this MB. You lose either way if being associated with idiots makes a difference to you.

Of course, living in CA, it really doesn’t matter for whom I vote. Obama is going to take this state handily.

This is almost exactly my position! Altho I do agree with Obama more than McCain, I do like some of McCains positions, and I really like his experience and personal integrity. But I just can not support another 8 years of this crappy war. Noway, no how. And, the whole sleezebag GoP powerbrokers like Rove.

Also being a Californian, my vote also isn’t going to mean much.

I’ve never voted for a Republican in my life, and I can’t imagine reality-based circumstances in which I would. I don’t see why Republicans can’t take the same position with respect to their candidates. Vote your principles, which in this case are Republican principles: enormous deficits (future taxes); drowning government in a bathtub (Katrina indifference); influence peddling (Abramoff and Keating 5); and propaganda (false rumors that Obama is a Muslim). Oh, and saying how awful your opponents are, how dissent from your policies is hating America.

The reality is that modern Republicans expand government far more than Democrats, spend more, borrow more and get poorer results.

I’m going to vote for Obama, but I really don’t see how he can win. I’m a very white guy, and when I’m with other white people exclusively, I hear how racist they are and I know that this country will not elect a black man in my lifetime. I know at least one life-long Democrat who will not vote for Obama because it will make black people “uppity.” I hope I’m wrong and eat those words, but I don’t think this election will be close at all.

I’m sorry, but the things that Starving Artist has said has made me lose all respect for you Bricker. If only you could have controlled his attacks better, I might actually have voted for you.

Oh for fuck’s sake, people.
DNFTFT.

Can you prove it, ah, boarfucker? (God, you’re lame.) Don’t bother. You’re intellectually dishonest and not worth my time.

This isn’t about any Leftist Line, moron. Nice try on a strawman. You just threw a technicolor tantrum over your offended ideals. That’s why you can’t consider voting for Obama, remember? Though he didn’t actually violate your tender sensibilities. You know, the ones that are still so proud of Rove/Bush. By your own ridiculous Pit fit, you’re all hurt and shocked, SHOCKED, by what you’ve read on the internet and those tabloids!

Can’t have it both ways, whore. You were all thrilled and proud when your boy Shrub set the bar for politicking way down, including deliberate lies and personal attacks, because your team won! Do your victory dance again, Bricker. Your boys won, the ones who best represented your interests and values, remember? Your attempt to claim moral outrage and disappointment now is pretty hilarious, especially since it’s not even over anything Obama’s, y’know, actually done or shit.

Obama ain’t the messiah but he’s kept his word and run a clean campaign. You’re right. He doesn’t represent your values or interests. Because you’re a piece of shit.

Seriously? Those are your cites? The first article is extremely mild compared to what that flaming liberal Dr. Laura has to say. The second article is about fucking jokes made by late night comedians - and about how they are treading lightly.

But buy all means, continue on about all those smears…

And Obama isn’t Diogenes. But you seem perfectly happy to hold one to the behavior of the other.

I’m using him to point out that zealotry isn’t confined to the left. But whatever. Have your fun and let’s let this cock-waving die.

Starving Artist’s behavior reflects your failure of leadership and inability to set a good example.

I have in the past called you out for what I see is a tendency to make decisions based on nothing but sheer oppositionality. Clearly, that is not correct here, and I wanted to give you props for having a position of integrity.

Unlike ShitBricker.

Can I get a show of hands as to who actually thought Bricker was going to vote Obama?

Bricker,

You know, I like alternative fuels. I think we were crazy to have killed the electric car. Hydrogen and helium are viable sources for most mainstream cars if we just put a bit more R&D into them. We can lessen our dependence on oil imports and reduce our impact on the environment by adopting clean systems. I ride the bus to work. I have a fuel efficient car. And I think the big oil companies are evil.

Well…I thought that anyway. For awhile at least. But BP’s commercials really impacted me. Have you seen them? They talk about research into alternative fuels. They talk about cleaner technology in oil based fuels. They discuss how hard they’re working at planting trees across the globe. And it all ends with their slogan “It’s a start.”

They’re right. It is a start. It’s a way to show me that this oil company is different. This oil company cares. This oil company wants to make a positive impact on society.

So on one side of the scale I had all my policy beliefs on alternative fuels. And on the other side I had one Big Oil company telling me that they alone will do it differently. Run a clean company.

I believed them. I was on board. I’m voting with my dollars and buying into BP.

But I pulled into the station yesterday and what did I see? Litter on the sidewalk! And some fucktard putting gas in his tank overflowed it creating a massive spill! What the fuck?

You almost had me BP. Almost. But I can clearly see that this campaign of clean was nothing but a sham. It will never work. It’s just business as usual for all Big Oil and this incident proves it.

My scale is tipped. I hope you’re happy BP.

Please, please, please tell me who asked Palin to take a DNA test.

Zing!

(and to all you johnny-come-latelys… sorry Mr. Polemic wins the teddy bear!)
