Has “Ok, Boomer” had companies prohibiting it? I just saw one thing floating around that was a lawyer trolling to get an article in Business Insider written about him by saying “This COULD be a violation of federal age discrimination law, call me to learn more!”
Oh silly rabbit. How many times do I have to tell you I’m not going to follow you down your little semantic rabbit hole so you can change the subject of the discussion to something where you actually have a cogent argument? It didn’t work in the blackface thread, it’s not going to work here, and it’s not going to work in the future.
If you actually want to discuss the topic at hand then great. If you want to change the topic of discussion to “list every issue you have with Boomers starting from WWII to present” or some other spurious bullshit then you’re gonna have to find someone else to play your little game.
To repeat and rephrase at least a dozen or so posts in this thread: it’s a dismissal and conversation ender (that is possibly used to trigger a negative emotional response) and is not meant to be profound.
It is peak Boomer to not understand “OK Boomer”.
I think it’s worth noting that the preferred presidential candidate of a lot of the millennials who might say “OK Boomer” is a straight white male so old he predates the boomer generation.
The time you save might be well spent learning what “semantics” are. Your post (that I initially responded to) laid out the reasons why you think it is OK to dismiss people of a certain generation. I thought those reasons were hyperbolic and broad-bush so you were asked to back them up. You can go back and check if you like.
If that were the question I wanted to ask you’d know, because I’d ask it. I didn’t change the subject, You were directly challenged on your claims. If you are now saying that the state of the world and the people to blame for it is now is irrelevant then OK, say so.But that wasn’t your postion when you said.
and
So clearly the record of the boomer targets is relevant to the conversation, otherwise why did you bring it up?
Exactly my position as well.
And yet he’s not “OK boomer” fodder. So why can’t other boomers be ? And what does that say about “OK boomer” ?
ETA : BTW, this is not limited to Bernie. Jeremy Corbyn is lauded among (some) millenials as an “absolute boy”, despite his definitly not grokking his own absolute boyness or meme culture etc… To say nothing about his factual age.
Fucking edit window. Amend that to “despite his own very presumable not awareness or understanding of his absolute boyness in the eyes of his supporters, disconnect from memetic culture etc… To say nothing about his factual age.”
I don’t think anyone knows which era Corbyn belongs to, perhaps that of the peasants revolt and Wat Tyler (not to be confused with the pedants revolt led by Which Tyler)
… blades at dawn for that one. Name your second.
Not mine I promise, I’ve a feeling it was either Stephen Fry or Stewart Lee, blame them.
Be honest though, Corbyn would look at home in a smock with a pitchfork and a demijohn of scrumpy.
