FWIW, the ChickFest is in Birch Run, MI, not Ann Arbor. Birch Run is about oh, 1 1/2-2 hours north or Ann Arbor. A real easy drive, actually. Long, but it’s all expressway. The hotel is in Frankenmuth, just a stone’s throw from Birch Run.

Yes, Miss Creant, the MI part was right. But nothing’s far from anything here in Michigan, so even if you ended up in Ann Arbor, well, we’d find you.
Funny note: manny and I have been emailing back and forth, hammering out the details. He was looking at flights to Detroit vs. Flint, and I asked whether it would be quicker to fly into Detroit and drive, or into Flint and get picked up. He, the New Yorker, said, and I quote: “I hadn’t thought about driving. All you country people with drivers licenses have so much freedom! ;)” (I’m from the suburbs, actually, not the country, but I know how city people think everything outside the city limits is impenetrable jungle.)

I’m thinking it’s probably actually cheaper to fly to Detroit. I don’t fly much at all, though, so I really couldn’t tell you.
Drive time from Flint to Frankenmuth/Birch Run is shorter, though. Less than an hour. Of course, it’s a weekend, and it’ll be coming up on hunting season, so northbound traffic might be a little heavy, but not too bad. And there’s always more than one way to get anywhere here. There’s a long way, a short way, a fast way, a scenic way…
Now that Geo’s all set, could someone tell me how to get there from Chicago?

Then again, why in the hell would you want to spend more than 2 minutes in Ann Arbor ?

Um, sorry, can’t help you there, Miss Creant. I’m seriously directionally impaired. Like, “I need a map to find my ass with both hands” directionally impaired.
There’s absolutely no hope of me getting to this thing, which sucks more than a little. Miss Creant will be there, with her Little Wooden Boy tat, and I won’t get to see it. Geobabe will probably dance on some bar somewhere, and I won’t get to see that either. What’s worse, Manhattan will, and he’ll get slobbered on 'coz he’s a mod. WAAAAAAAAAHH!!!

If the ticket hasn’t been bought, flying into Lansing (since I live in Lansing and I’m assuming Geo will be staying with me - hooray!) would be the best (if it’s not tooooo much more than Detroit).
I checked Travelocity and to Detroit from Dulles it was $231, to Lansing $241.
However, let me say: WHATEVER IS EASIER AND CHEAPER FOR manny the Great!
BTW, manny, will you be joining us? Or are you just sending us a care package in the form of Geo?
I don’t think there’s any chance manny would miss this.
Our plan as it stands now is to fly into Detroit and rent a car. I will be manny’s chauffeur for the weekend, driving him here and there, and possibly crazy. Detroit gives us the option of getting together with UncleBeer as well.
I’m soooooo excited–in fact, I was so excited earlier, I thought someone had fixed my coding boo-boo in my one post, but it appears I was mistaken. But no biggie.
