Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 41 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of < snerk > 69! < snerk > and sunny. We shall be hermits today as there is nowhere we either want or need to be. Sounds good to me! Sup will be hamburger steak and onion gravy, green beans, smashed N.O.T. and rolls. Borin’ but it’ll feed.
JtC ick about the mess! Hope you’re not too sore today.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.
Wahoo, it’s Monday morning! The Olympics are lymping, though some of them are limping. My phone tells me it’s 17 ferrets outside in Elkhart, Indiana, and that it feels like 8. I’d hate to be the guy who has to go outside to report what it feels like. If I had that job, I’d be sending out a lot of resumes. Imagine trying to get somebody to give you a reference letter.
Some folks, I suppose, are sleeping late after the festivities around the Puppy Bowl and the Superb Owl. I do hope no one was seriously killed or injured in pursuit of the Lombardi Trophy.
pjd, N.O.T. stands for “not our Taters,” meaning potatoes, not the poster Taters.
Today has started with 10 Ferrets outside and 68 Ferrets inside because the pellet stove, for some reason, cycled off. It’s doing cool down at the moment and once it turns itself off, I’ll pull the plug and let it sit a bit before trying to restart it. This is not what I need today, dammit! We’re supposed to hit mid-30s today, but that’s still too chilly to be without the stove. I don’t want to have to bump up the thermostat and burn oil, dammit.
I started a new blanket pattern last night. I really like it, but it’s a but slow-going. Plus it’s one that I actually have to watch what I’m doing rather than going by feel - makes it more difficult to watch TV. In fact, I watched 2 episodes of Hamish Macbeth and I only half-remember what they were about. One involved an arsonist and I missed the part where they explained why he burned the school down. Guess I need to rewatch it.
I’ll make a run to Food Lion and Aldi - I don’t need a lot, but FCD is down to his last 'nanner and I want to get some more diet coke before the sale ends. And I hope Aldi got in some kitteh litter - I’m almost out and I don’t want to have to drive to WalMart. It’s ridiculously $$$ in the grocery store. Other than that bit of shopping, I’m not sure what I’ll do. I suppose I could < gasp > dust.
Oatmeal has been ingested - guess I need to finish my morning surfage so I can accomplish something.
Afternoon, mumpers! It’s currently 9c/48f with a predicted high of 10c/50f and cloudy. Weather app says “It’s a totally fucking dreich day outside.” It’s actually dried up a bit since I got up, so it’s not that bad.
From last week:
Good advice, thank you! I have contacted them first (instead of calling the breakdown people) and they’re sending a mobile techie out tomorrow to look at it. I did have a moment of panic that I might have left the headlights on and run the battery down that way, but it seems not to be the case.
After a good weekend, it’s back to irk today. One of my minions is on leave until the end of next week so I’m covering his work. Fortunately he left everything in good order so I am keeping up with it all.
The car is still resolutely immobile but that’s ok ‘cos I don’t have any need to go anywhere. I managed to get a delivery slot tomorrow morning so I did an online order from the supermarket. If there’s anything else that I need, ‘im indoors will be able to pick up stuff from the really big supermarket right next to his gym.
Nothing else going on today, ‘im indoors has abandoned plans to go to his gym today and has pottered off into town to do something. Hopefully he’ll be picking up food from the Indian food truck so I have that to look forward to. Dinner tonight will be sausages and mash, just because I can.
The Bowl was less than Super. But I got to hang out with friends.
Today starts a stretch of crazy busyness that I’m finding a little daunting. Two of my three choral jobs (Chamber Chorus and Symphony Chorus) have concerts this weekend, and one had another concert next weekend. I will be in rehearsal or performance every day this week, Saturday morning, Saturday night, Sunday afternoon, every night next week (except Wednesday when I have to miss symphony rehearsal for Ash Wednesday at my third chorus job), and next weekend. Then straight into fachverwife’s surgery which will be it’s own stress event.
This is why I really don’t need to be dealing with car things now.
Incidentally, if anyone is interested, the Chamber Chorus just released a new CD.
Morning all. Bladder let me be until 6:30am today so decided to get up and…not do anything to active. Not much on the agenda this week, need to refill my prescriptions Wednesday (the Drug store does it automatically when I have a refill left). It’s 47F and heading to nearly 70F later, so a very nice day appears to be in store.
FCM, glad to hear the pellet stone has revived; I really use (probably overuse) my space heater since I spend 75% of the time in my house (not counting bedtime) in the one room. And will do my minimal moanday shopping (Sugar Bee apples are this week’s sample size) a little later in the morning.
boo fae, hope the battery folks can help or at least replace the item.
It’s 42F and a light rain is falling. We’ll have early-morning rain, changing to afternoon showers, with a daytime high of 49°F.
My husband and decided we actually wanted to watch the Super Bowl. Unfortunately, Xfinity had an outage in my area, and I missed most of the game. I saw the first quarter, part of the second quarter, and most of the halftime show. Unfortunately, we didn’t get to see the third and fourth quarters, except for some 30-second blips. It seems the fourth quarter was the most exciting. At any rate, the service was not restored until around 9:00 p.m, but I went to bed around 8:30.
Even with the meds and the thundershirt, Maisie was unhappy. She wasn’t as bad as normal, but she was bad enough that treats didn’t even distract her.
I was up early, showered, and, aside from changing into jeans and brushing my teeth again, I’m ready for my doctor appointment later this morning.
Boo Fae, I hope the battery folks can fix or replace it. Free would be better, since it is only around a year old.
JtC, I’ve had to clean up such a mess once or twice. It’s not fun. I use Pods now.
That does sound like a busy time, **Pavo. I hope the insurance process goes smoothly.
Well, it’s time for another cup of coffee. You all take care.
It is kinda cloudy, kinda sunny. Currently 23 supposedly going to 40 but I don’t believe them. I have nowhere to go and all day to get there. I’m gonna vacuum during commercials while watching the Olympics.
i had to block the door this morning. they are painting the hall side of the unit doors. i used storage bins to block the cats from running out. should be interesting getting back in tonight.
then the shuttle broke down. took a bit to get a substitute shuttle. left the building a half hour later than usual.
somehow i messed up the ribbing on my nisselue. ah well, that’s how it goes. i’m still pondering starting over or making it a design choice.
the handegg game finally got interesting in the 4th quarter. lots of ai commercials. pepsi and clydesdale was the best.
pavo, this week and holy week will keep you on your toes.
Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. There are a lot of dishes this morning since I didn’t do them after cooking last night. Today will be sweeping the floors and (maybe) mopping the studio.
Morning everyone and thanks for the sympathy. It wouldn’t have been such a mess if I had checked when I first heard the plop instead of assuming it was more snow and giving the soap time to settle in and get comfy.
Its warming up here, tomorrow it should be in the low 60s which should melt all of the ice off the house while we are gone.
I’m sorry.
Hurray! Winter heating emergencies are not fun at all.
Bring a jacket, surgical suite waiting rooms are always freezing. I hope things go well and painlessly for her and for you.
I hope you will only have to see the doctor over this once and I’m sorry you are still hurting.
I’m sorry about poor Maisie and that you have a few really horrible neighbors.
It defiantly sounds like a Monday all right! I hope the rest of it goes better.
Well, look at you go! I’m glad you are recovering well enough to do that.
We ran out of kittah litter last week so Hubs went to town and bought some. It wasn’t what we’ve been using but he figured that it would work until our Chewy order got here. It was horrible stuff, didn’t clump well and was very dusty.
The litter arrived this morning so I cycled the robot, dumped all of the litter, wiped the inside of the robot out with Nature’s Miracle and refilled it. That’s usually Hub’s chore, but its his birthday so I thought I should pretend to be a good wife and do it for him.
I’ve been glancing at the highway this morning and traffic is almost back to normal. Normal is pretty light by AZ standards so I guess that doesn’t mean that much. I should probably start getting ready to go, I’m very high maintenance so need to have lots of things with me at all times. Have great days everyone.
Oh, and shoe? I hope you survived the Superbowl Party pizza rush without much trauma.
I was loading Top and Middle Blue on the 100 today, 6 cars. The volume wasn’t bad, but the load quality of the person who did most of the loading on Saturday could charitibly called “An attempt was made.” I did what I could, because I had to help out loading the next set as well, since TPTB forgot to assign someone to that set, or the loader called in hungover. 50/50 on that. I did an Aldi meat run, now I’m having breakfast, followed by a nap. Spot has had his multi room attention, and finally gets a scoop of new dry, flavorless bits.
I also ran the dishwasher last night and had oatmeal for breakfast. Does this mean I’m turning into an old person?
It’s so outsiders don’t think we’re resorted to cannibalism. Yet.
I switched over to mixed doubles curling after Bad Bunny. But the Patriots losing filled me with joy.
Good morning. It was 35ºF this morning, so we walked. I had to cut a mile off our track because my alarm didn’t go off. Thankfully, my bladder took over the job.
Last night, we had our little family tradition of appetizers and watching the Super Bowl. Mrs Magill still prepares enough for five of us, even though we have only one left. I think it’s the Italian in her. So we have A LOT of finger food left over.
She had her consultation with the counsellor who is running her spouses support group. I think it went well. I noticed she was wearing her full complement of rings again. She also said somethings that gave me hope. I am feeling hopeful for the future once again. She has asked if I could talk with my sister, just so she would have someone to talk with. I think she’s right. I suppose this is a conversation that I’m going to have to get used to.
Anyhow - I’ve got some chicken breasts thawing in the fridge for some chicken piccata tonight. I’m getting hungry thinking about it. Lunch today will be some pigs in a blanket and tamale bites. I’ll probably add some carrots and an apple so I can pretend to be eating right.
Morning, all. JtC, what a mess! Sorry you had to deal with that.
We’ll have a house guest overnight on Tuesday. I’ll be glad to see her and catch up, but I need to be editing if I’m to stay on schedule. Oh, well. I’ll help clean, and when she’s here I’ll excuse myself after a while. Sadly, I need to move my base of operations from thr dining table. Happily, this will make me vacuum the cat schmutz that I’ve been waiting to deal with.
Afternoon all. Shopping is done, I added a stop at the Mart of Wal to pick up a new alarm clock, the one I have is fairly quiet and with my hearing loss it barely works in waking me. This new one says it is LOUD right on the box, so we’ll see. Also bought my week’s supply of Sugar Bee apples, they are pretty expensive ($3.49/lb compared to $1.69-$2.19/lb for most of the others), so we’ll see if they are worth it. Have lunched and will shortly pack up and get back into the gym routine and see how much my calorie blowout yesterday cost me on the scales. It’s up to 63F now so the middleweight jacket can get a break until it dips below 40F again.
Taters, didn’t miss much on the Super Bowl and glad Masie survived.
Any kids running across your lawn?
{{Maus}}.
lily, guess you take the good with the bad, hope the time management works out fine.
19th day below freezing. It was -3 overnight, now 30.
Tomorrow 45 when all the white mountains ( snow) will start melting.
Had to go get my salt & pepper chips today.
So glad Im getting eye evaluated next week, my vision has gotten worse. Pretty sure I qualify for right eye removal ( cataract not eye).
Must use artificial tears from today til then. I’ve honestly needed them for a long time.
Got a visit from the detectives about the shooting 2 weeks ago. I could only tell them what I heard. There were people down the hall who saw it happening.
Two young men are dead.
No arrest yet, gunman was masked.
