Ok, I'll start this week's MMP

Poor bats.
“Hey, we got away from those guys! Come on, let’s go find a place to hang upside down…This sure is comfy! Er, Fred, what’s that ticking noise?”

My Swedish Christmas cookies taste great, but look like hell. I might have to eat them all myself to avoid the embarrassment.

BBBobbio send 'em down to me. I’ll make sure nobody sees 'em so you won’t be all embarrassed.

Ok that’s all I got for now. Ima go attend a little soiree at four o’clock. Be kinda nice to get out of da cave for a bit I reckon. I’m bringin’ pigs in a blanket. Le host came up with the great idea of buyin’ the frozen kind and bringin’ 'em over to b ake up so they’ll be all nice and hot.

Guess I should go purtify.

Laterz!

I made some gingerbread cookie dough today and I’ll bake the cookies tomorrow.

ugh!

What a day.

Had to go to the store wrapping paper and a few other things. I went to the little local dollar store and it was pretty bad. No parking, hot and crowded. I was so sick feeling that I thought I was going to faint and a really nice man helped me carry my bags to the car. I only had two bags but I still think it was very nice of him. Seeing a doctor may be in my future.

Got home in one piece though and got all my gifts wrapped. Everything has arrived in time.

My mother baked a cake for my niece to take to a party, some kind of chocolate bundt cake that has chocolate pudding and chocolate chips added. My niece was was worried if it turned out okay so I suggested we could cut out a slice and push the edges together. No go :frowning:

I need to go to irk but I think a nap might be first.

“Hello, boys, how’ve you been? I MISSED you…”

Stopped off at the liberry on the way to work to check my email & facebook one last time before Boxing Day, wished everybody in FB land a Merry Ramakwahannumas. Then I found that the ridiculously expensive gourmet grocery store on the way to work actually has one brand of beer at a reasonable price. Yay.

Back to the salt mines…

Just got an email from my sister - BIL is home and doing better. Needless to say, she is relieved…

**FCD **et al got to Ocala safely just before noon, so yay for that. I go thru spells of feeling OK, feeling awful, coughing like crazy, feeling woozy, and having a bit of an icky tummy. Not a fun day in FairyChatLand. And I’m out of milk. I may try to brave a trek to Food Lion tomorrow, maybe, if I feel up to it. I’d also like to find some real food. I’m already tired of soup. I don’t know what I want, tho… I hate being sick.

This is because they are trained professionals & you are not.

Went to the shopping center earlier (not the maul, the outdoor shopping center), had trouble just driving in it was so crowded. Iffn I decide to attempt the maul, I’ve decided that I will need some mechanical assistance to navigate the crowds; I’m thinkin’ a weed wacker will move them out of the way. :dubious:

Yesterday, I think I was in five different stores. All (majority were grocery-oriented) were quite busy.

Glad our resident ursine has heat. I hope I have similarly good luck when maintenance shows up to unclog the kitchen sink (plunger failed, as did drain cleaner goo).

Not feeling well today. Probably going to spend a lot of the day in “watch backed up stuff on the DVR” position. Hopefully will get around to manufacture of butterscotch fudge later.

Everyone please take as much congratulation, sympathy, virtual chicken soup, etc., as you like.

the Hunks came by and packed up a bunch-a stuff in my den, and got rid of two ratty pieces of furnature that gave their all and are going off to be recycled. All that’s left is the desk area and A LOT OF DUSTING - I think I’ll dress in plastic tomorrow

Kinky!

Er, does this involve fruitbats?

(grumble gripe) I still do not have a functional kitchen sink. Maintenance guy found plungering ineffective, they won’t have a working snake until Monday. I have a full dishwasher, plus a distressing percentage of the next load, and can’t even hand-wash them unless I want to use the bathtub (my hips and back are vetoing that plan).

or sloths?

So I’m sitting at work on a Sattidy and I find that for some unknown reason they have not blocked Craigslist.

Get yer minds outta the gutter, I’m looking for an apartment.

I’m working in San Mateo (south of San Francisco) and currently living in Hayward (east, across the bay). Hayward is ass. Hayward is trashy restaurants and broken glass. And, it’s my alma mater, but let’s not talk about that right now. It’s 20 miles and about 25 minutes for the commute.

I’ve been looking at scenic San Leandro, which is just north of Hayward. It’s a little nicer, it’s a little more expensive, and the commute is only 10 more miles and 10 more minutes, so I figure that’s reasonable.

I just checked and it’s only ANOTHER 10 miles and 10 minutes if I get an apartment in Berkeley. AT THE SAME PRICE. All the friends I want to see are in Berkeley. All the stores I want to shop at and places I want to go are in Berkeley. NOTHING is in San Leandro except higher-quality tacquerias and massage parlors. So now I’m thinking, is it worth adding 100 miles and an hour and a half to my weekly commute time to be able to hit the ground running in Berkeley on my weekend? Commute traffic is not an issue because I work 1 pm to 9:30 pm, and there is no traffic anywhere along the route.

Any Bay Arean MMPers out there? Am I nuts? Or, is this a bad idea, in case me being nuts is not a deciding factor?

I rushed out to Kohl’s and Tar-jay this morning and knocked out every last bit of Christmas shopping, to include stocking stuffers.

I told my husband he can pick up prezzies for the dogs when he picks up the prime rib roast tomorrow.

My daughter and her fiance came down to swap presents since they will be out of town on Christmas. I received a very nice 12 quart stock pot, an Amazon gift card, some little candles and nail polish. I wanted a bigger stock pot because I want to make MORE of my prime rib soup due to the fact it goes so quickly when I make it.

My son and husband also received very nice prezzies. My daughter and her fiance loved the presents we got them. In fact, my daughter is wearing the jammies I bought for her right now. She changed into them immediately. Later, she tried on all the clothes I bought for her and everything fit with the exception of the slacks I bought for her. They were too short. She is very short herself, so this was shocking. No worries, she has a gift receipt and Macy’s is everywhere.

K (my daughter’s fiance) then cooked us up some beautiful steaks with mushroom gravy and smashed 'taters. I am so full.

There is no way I’m going to be able to eat anything tonight at our friend’s house. Really, I just want to stay home, but we promised we’d be there. If it weren’t for the fact that one of those friends won’t be at our house Christmas Day, I would have cancelled. The rest of the gang are coming over for dinner on Christmas Day.

I haven’t been in the Bay Area in decades, so I have nothing to offer in that regard. But it seems to me you need to weigh your professional life against your personal life - is a little more time in the car worth being where you want to be when you’re not working?

I know we chose at least 2 of our homes for that reason. It was worth it for us.

And on that note, I’m going to turn off this machine, feed the fishies, and assume the Netflix position till I can’t focus my eyes any longer.

MWAH!!!

le sigh (as swampy would say)

My nap lasted longer than I planned, I got up freezing and hungry. My mother tells me there is a left over baked N.O.T. on the counter that I can have. I ask what about the cole slaw and she says I can have that too. She says there’s some sour cream in the container too.
So I heat up said N.O.T. in the microwave and grab the two little containers sour cream (after I already ate the cole slaw because I am hungry).
The two little containers don’t look quite the same, but I slather the sour cream on my N.O.T. anyway, take the first bite and YUCK!!! It’s not sour cream, it’s mayonnaise. Then my mother remembers that her bf had asked for his mayo on the side and she had grabbed that container to bring home as well. Thanks mom!
If I wasn’t feeling queasy before I sure am now

FCM I hope you feel better soon. When I had what was going around it didn’t matter what I ate because everything tasted the same and none of it tasted good.
Crazy pet sitting starts tomorrow, bright and early.

I have spent a bunch of time in the Bay Area, My exgf lives in Albany and works in Bezerkley. I would do it in a heartbeat it is a lovely place, also I would look at Oakland there are some very sweet areas there as well. There are a ton of Bay Area dopers, you might want to start a IMHO thread and ask them. Good luck and Happy hunting

Jim

The house is as clean as it’s going to get without some intervention from the person to whom the rest of the stuff belongs. But, overall, I’m pretty happy. The HFUN girls are being dropped off tomorrow afternoon for baking fun and mayhem whilst their parents go Christmas shopping. I’ve got 7 kinds of cookies on my list. I think that should be plenty. I just need to run to the store to pick up a few ingredients for one of the cookies that I just thought of tonight. I’m also debating making bread dough so that we can have pizza for dinner but that’s probably overkill. Right?

I get tired just reading your posts.
You make me feel lazy.
