This week it was a pair of 16 hr days sandwiched between 7 hr drives is an uncomfortable satellite truck.

After our NC to RI mayhem a few weeks back, I’ll trade. Two 16-hour drives separated by maybe a 15 hour day was not much fun. No idea how comfy our truck is vs yours, but 16 hours behind the wheel of anything will give you a good case of numbass.
Good news on the Mom front - she’s home and sounding much better than a few days ago. Now she just needs to recuperate and get someone to bring her a can of Campbell’s Chicken Noodle soup.
One silly bit - as she was at a teaching hospital, there were the occasional visits by young doctors she’s never seen before and probably never will see again. I know the formal name is “rounds” but let’s call them what the are - field trips.
Well, on one of these visits, a very green intern was looking at her, reached out and stroked something on her side. “What is this?” he cried. The guy had never seen a thirty year old gallbladder scar before.
I’m willing to bet he’s also never seen a rotary dial phone.
After class, we were supposed to go out to lunch together, but I didn’t really want to go to some restaurant I didn’t like with my classmates, most of whom I don’t particularly like, so I sort of deliberately wandered off. My feet were getting soaked because of the holes in my boots anyway, and I needed to buy new boots. I just hope that I won’t get into too much trouble in class tomorrow for what I did today.
Midget that’s when you can say, “Golly gee, I wondered why nobody was at <insert name of wrong eatery.>! I really spaced out after that art exhibit! Next thing I knew I was in a shoe store trying to order a burger!”
Change of dindin plans. We have been invitated to go eat at the good local seafood place by MOG. YAY!!! She says it’s partial payback for all the times she’s eaten at da cave. I see shrimps in my near future!
Home, exhausted, and done making supper - we’re having shepherd’s pie (ok, technically cottage pie, since it’s beef, not lamb) and it smells yum! **FCD **survived the day at work, and he seems to be in better spirits, so I’m guessing the worst of his crud has passed. I still feel OK, but I suspect it’s just waiting to kick me hard - wanna bet we’ll be halfway thru South Carolina when I curl up in the terminal whining position??
Last night, I rolled two big balls of yarn from scraps. I may double them up with some black yarn and make a random-colored afghan or lap robe. I’m going to gather the rest of my scraps first, tho - I bet I can make at least one more big ball.
Home from feastin’ on sea food. I had crabbed stuffed flounder and butterflied shrimpies. Now da bear is the one stuffded.
Apes we trust this was your doctor that said that. That might be excusable because she’s all concerned about your health and stuff. Anybody else, well then it’s two-by-four/baseball bat with a spike upside the haid.
Every pregnancy is different and that arbitrary amount is in the same category with the insurance tables that say at 5’7", I should way 130lbs HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!
I’m finally done for the day. Tons and tons of cleaning and tons and tons of watching someone sit on the couch and watch me while I do it. :dubious: Ah well, that’s not ever going to change so I guess I should just live with it until I can graduate and move out.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 35 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 72. Really. It’s supposed to warm up 37 degrees durin’ the day.
Rosie that doll is ummmm… weirdly creepy.
Apes since it was your doc I suppose there is no need to maim. Not yet anyways.
Now I need more caffiene and rumbly tummy needs to be fed. Then, alas and alack, irk purtification must commence.
It’s cold in SoMD and I’m exhausted. I suspect a pet conspiracy. I got up in the wee small hours to pee, disturbing Taz. I think he sought his revenge by taunting the puppy till she started barking and whining and generally being noisy - this happened about 3 times last night (I drank a lot of water before bed - my bad…) so this morning, I’m in the zombie mode. ugh.
Two more days till we head south and I have tons to do - including laundry and leaving a note for our pet sitter and watering my houseplants and getting together a knitting bag. Gonna be a busy 2 days, even away from the office. My grinchitude is intensifying. I don’t wanna go to FL. I have nothing against my inlaws and I know my husband really wants to see his folks, but I don’t want to go. I dread all the hours we’ll spend on I-95 and all the hours of hearing stories over and over again. I just want to hide and veg - is that so wrong? I don’t even want to see my side of the family!
Oh well, it’ll all be over by the end of next week.
I don’t think I mentioned all the fun I was having last night. We’re going to see my scrap dealer to get more silverware and in the meantime we’re taking a bunch of aluminum cans. Well, unfortunately most of the cans have been stored in bags outside and the bags were filled with water. So last night I got to sit in the garage and re-bag about 6 large trash bags full of cold, wet aluminum cans. Wheeee!
We’re going up there today and then then off to roam the countryside for a bit. Then back home for more cleaning, I suppose. One more day and I’ll have reached the point where I’m ready for vacuuming and dusting.
