Ok, I'll start this week's MMP

Afternoon, all! It’s half-past week and I will be off to the pub tonight so I am pretty happy today.

Moooom, there’s nothing wrong with not wanting to see your rellies and wanting to hide because that’s what I do too. Unfortunately there’s no getting away from them…

I am cold, I need hot food for lunch. Good job I have not brought salad today and we have a microwave.

Happy W day.

Today is the departmental christmas lunch. Not to be confused with the office christmas party that was held last saturday, which is not to be confused with the company christmas party which was held the saturday before that! And my goberment boss just handed me an invite to her private New Years party. I ain’t goin! All of these partys involve drinking of some sort. Now, don’t get me wrong, I am ALLLLLL ABOUT getting my drink on when its time, however I would like to actually do it NOT AROUND WORK PEOPLE. I work as a goberment contractor, I do NOT want to see any of these folks drunk (too late, actually saw my goberment boss fall down drunk a couple of years ago) nor do I want any of these people to see me drunk (and they wont!). So I shall sip my diet coke delicately at lunch and drool over the beers others are having. We have to go back to work after the lunch and I personnally don’t want to have beer breath.

Got a date night tonight with Mr. Jynx. We seeing Monster’s Inc 3D and having Five Guys. Perfection! Now I just have to remember to drive to the mall instead of going home after work.

**Jynx **- how did I not know you’re a contractor too? **BBBobbio **and I are also - same neighborhood, but different companies. Do you play with a particular gummint department? We do mostly Navy here, but then it is southern Merrylande and NAS Pax River is right down the street…

Today I’m doing drawings from scratch - I don’t get to do that often - mostly I end up fixing other folkses’ mistakes. Today I make fresh new mistakes myself! I’m having me some hot chocolate, snurfling like crazy. I fear the sick is overtaking me…

We’re doin’ our irk holiday thing tomorrow. It starts with brekkie. The foodstuffs are bein’ supplied but must be cooked. Thus, several of us have volunteered ourselves and our appliances for this purpose. We shall have bacon, sausage, scrambled aigs, bizkits and pancakes. YUM!!! I am bringin’ my electric griddle for pancake makin’ purposes. The tech school is bakin’ the bizkits and I think makin’ the grits. We shall also have a finger food/munchies N.O.L. I am bringin’ little cocktail sausages in bbq sauce. This is easy cause I can bring in the little sausages, the sauce and a slow cooker. I’ll dump the sausages and sauce in the cooker after I get to irk and let ‘em simmer all mornin’. Easy peasey!

Ok, Ima get to irk now. Or back to irk.

Wed eve is long workout night (training begins again tonight due to school concert last week). Otherwise there isn’t much weekly or monthly events on my calendar. There are a lot of annual events that I do, so the first Sun of this month, or the last weekend of that month are scheduled well in advance. The next of those is less than two weeks away; heading to the south for the opening day of sunnin & funin swimmin season; hopefully it’ll be nice weather.

Mooommm, not a lot of sympathy for your zombieness today as your’s was your own fault, mine was caused by someone else

Sticky, next time try cutting a small hole in the bottom of the bag & hold it up.

FCM, I completely empathize. I remember the best family get-together ever - I sat by the pool by myself and read an entire book. Of course I was a teenager and no one my age was there so I was kind of excused. But it would be nice to do that as an adult sometimes!

My SIL accidentally invited my FIL and his [del]mistress[/del] wife to our house for Xmas dinner. Guess MIL won’t be attending after all! Oh well, we are having prezzies and brunch with her and my parents.

FCM I too work for the Navy, but I was never in the Navy or any other military branch. I also grew up in Silver Spring Merryland. Heh!

Happy Hump Day y’all.

No irk parties for me, because I work all alone, in my room, with only a snoring dog for company.
How do dogs sleep 20 hours a day?

Have a call with the company today, some new project they want me to be a part of.

I feel like a zombie today as well. I even have a headache and that is rare for me.

Tired. Going in to work early (schedule shifts to cover vacationers).

Waaah. Poor me.

On the bright side at work our assignment manager dug up this old happy story to give people a lift, which it did, and I thus share with you all too.

Mom will be receiving a surprise delivery of soup soon.

We’re really getting into our year-end slowdown now. Thanks to an annual tradition we call the year-end code freeze, there’s very little mainframe work coming in, so my version of Reindeer Games is to keep poking the “NEXT” button on the work queue to see if anything pops up.

Oh, I forgot to add they are putting me on weekly progesterone shots to prevent preterm labor. I am not the biggest fan of needles, so the thought of having to take a weekly shot which has to go in the muscle is a bit daunting. My husband has agreed to give me the shots at home, so at lest I will have him doing it for me.

If it helps, I hate her already.

HAhaha, no but seriously, she is a very good doctor. A few of my friends are using the same doctor and she came highly recommended.

I had an OBGYN who came highly recommended. She, too, weighed less than 95 lbs soaking wet. She could never understand how anyone could live with more than 0% body fat. Needless to say, I did not stick with her.

A tip I got from my mom, the RN, when I got an intra-muscular shot. Do not rub. Press firmly. The fluid from the shot occupies the space between your muscle cells. You want it to be absorbed (by blood vessels? Lymphatic system? I’ll ask her). Rubbing aggravates the nearby nerve endings. Pressing pushes it where it needs to go, and gets it into the system sooner. Hot packs are also good.

Second tip, when your husband gives the shot, he needs to place the tip of the needle against your skin, and then push in. If he tries to hold it above and then jab it, he’ll reflexively stop right at or right below your skin, which sucks.

N.O.L. has been consumed. MOG did not eat all her scallops last night so I was the recepient of leftovers for today. YAY!!!

gotti I’ve never been surprised with soup. I don’t even know how to surprise someone with soup. Dump it in the lap maybe?

Apes ick about the shots. I don’t like shots either. I’m glad hubby is brave enough to give 'em to ya.

**swampy **- how about this: “Would you like some ice cream?” “Why, yes, I would!” “Surprise - it’s soup!!!”

I didn’t pack lunch because we usually grab a salad at WaWa - but there were no salads at WaWa this morning. I’m having a yogurt that I left in the fridge and some saltines the FCD had sitting in his desk. Not very satisfying, but I don’t feel like going out into the world and foraging. Woe is me… :stuck_out_tongue:

I am so ready for today to be over.

Oh I just noticed that all the vehicles are gone and I am home alone.

Cool!

Time for N.O.L. and check the dryer.

Ok, Ok. Lunch was nice. No one had any alcohooooooooolic beverages. I had me some flied oysters. Goberment boss lady bought us each an ornament and a box of chawclat covered cherries. Very nice of her. So I gots nothing to complain about except nows I full and have to work for another 4 hours. Oh woe is me

Try gift-wrapping and mailing four cans of it to someone.

They’ll be all  Soup? In the mail? Who mails soup?

And that’s after they unwrap it. Until then, it’s in a square box that when shaken, sounds like it contains small hard things like nuts or Legos. Doesn’t sound wet. :stuck_out_tongue:
