Apparently the Apocalypse shall descend upon south Jawja this afternoon accordin’ to the weather PTB. We are under a tornado watch until seven p.m. and are told a line of tstorms with winds up to 70 mph is headed this way. Run! Run for your lives! Or not. We shall see.
**sari **- we’re not in the path of the blizzarding - at least not so far. According to the channel 7 weather guy this morning, the closest snow to us will be out towards Frostburg. So no sweat about that.
Damn near killed myself last night. They had the stoopit* bloodmobile @ irk on Tues. The heart was beating fine during workout, it just didn’t have enough of the right stuff to pump thru it. Made it thru the hard part in normalish time, but then ka-boom, I blewed up. Had to sit down for a while & got real shaky too.
Stoopit because it’s just the wrong height. I could stand in certain parts of it but other parts I couldn’t. So I was either getting wacked in the noggin or stooping in the high parts. Grrr.
Swampy, as a regular mumper, I get the alternate spellings but remember there are some casual lurkers. I think they’d understand “I have to go into the orifice today” OTOH, “my orifice smells like bacon” might be misunderstood as you having some interesting toots!
Ok, so now a N.O.L. spread is bein’ put out. I’m not all the way over the hyuuuuuuuuuuge brekkie yet. Looks like today is a not real productive irk day. So mote it be.
Starting to get worried about presents- my Dad’s was ordered from the US, niiiice and early according to the last posting dates, but there’s no sign of it yet. Eep. Other than that, everything’s all ready and wrapped.
One more day of thrilling course to go- we have fake interviews, then, oh joy of joys, we get to ‘graduate’, and get shown our very own training montage. They’ve seriously suggested we bring friends and family up for this ‘graduation’ from a 2-week almost-impossible-to-fail course. Reckon my highly cynical mother will want to drive 6 hours each way for the privilege? I’m almost tempted to phone her and check…
Mousey’s looking almost normal, which is awesome- 10 days ago, I thought we were taking her to be put down, and now she’s like a proper little critter again, just with her head slightly tilted, so yay
He’s never been big in the “I want” department, which was nice when I was a kid, but now that I’m an adult with hang ups, I really want to do right by him. Even with his dementia, he’s still cognizant of his likes and dislikes. The trouble is, there’s very little that he likes any more.
Movies? He doesn’t watch them anymore, because he can’t track long enough to stay up with the plot. TV shows? Unless it’s FoxNews or something about extraterrestrials sinking the Titanic, no. Books? He hasn’t read anything longer than the instructions on a can of soup in well over a year. Clothes? He just really doesn’t care (with the exception of a replacement bathrobe, but my brother snagged that one, dammit). Hobbies? He doesn’t have any anymore.
I finally hunted down a t-shirt with the insignia of the USS Constellation (CV-64), which he served on back in the 60s. So, I got that.
Oh, yeah, April. It’s been hella windy in DFW. We had a cold front move in last night. I was driving home, and my poor little car got shoved all over the road by the gusts of wind. I have a leaky bedroom window (it’s an apartment, so there’s not much I can do), and the wind was so loud, I finally retreated to my walk in closet and slept on the futon mattress I have in there. It worked, but the cats were extremely confused.
Howdy from da cave! I forgot to mention this earlier but I am without adult supervision as OYKW headed off to the wilds of West Alabammy this mornin’. I talked to him a little while ago and he said he ran into some really bad weather but he was almost to ye olde homeplace when it happened so that at least was good. I told him to be glad to be somewhere where he can get fed cause after all I et today, ain’t no way dindin is gonna happen.
Gotta think about packing and figure out if I need to do laundry or not before we go. And water my plants. And leave a note for our critter sitter. And call him and let him know where the garage door opener is so he can get it. And write a check for him. And other crap.
Tomorrow, our daughter will come over and I’ll take her to school, then come home and load her stuff into our car. She’s got half a day, so we’ll pick her up enroute to I-95. Fun.
In the short time we have left together, a mere 13 hours or so, before the Mayapocalypse. I need you to know how much I have enjoyed the MMP, very very much and how much I will miss you all, very very much. We have laughed, cried, talked of food, love, children and our elders and a bazillion other things. This is all very dear to me. I cannot believe this will be the last MMP. I shed a tear
Goodbye all and fare thee well
Jim
You know I am full of it, right? About the Clypse anyway
As the Easternmost mumper, I find it is my honor and duty to announce that it is now the 21st of December in the Holy Land, and all is w(^%((*_( *&(^%(& ) [Lost Carrier]
Yesterday I went downtown. I saw several of my lovely friends. A few of them were in a play. It was great to see them!
And today I went to a craft/artisan fair with my class.
I think it was a good way to spend my last few days of existence.
We have leftovers from N.O.L. to eat up tomorrow and I’m lookin’ forward to it. Reckon if I asked it nicely, the apocalypse would wait until around two tomorrow afternoon?
