I learned today that there is no poster named Equiporpoise. Rather, the name is Equipoise. Here I’d been thinking “Equiporpoise” whenever I saw the name, all these long years.
I even had a nice mental image of a dolphin committed to equal rights for both humans and ocean-based cetaceans.
Why did it take me so long to notice that? :smack:
Don’t worry Qadgop, you’ll get used to it. For me Quagdog the Mercaptan is already begining to fade. I have no idea what “kadgop the mercotan” is, but I’m adjusting pretty well considering how long I stuck with the other name. I stuck with it long after I knew it was wrong.
Among other names I now must relearn, apparently it is bobo the optimist. Huh! I had Bob all this time until I read this thread.
I hadn’t been in IMHO for a while, and something just made me click on the link. My eye was immediately drawn to this Subject Line since it was so close to my name. I thought, wow, there was a poster named Equiporpoise who doesn’t post anymore? Where did he go, anyway?
Surprise!
This is hilarious! I do like ocean-based cetaceans, though I never heard the word “cetaceans” until now.
I’ve used three difference usernames consistently over the years, but Equipoise is the only one I’ve used here. It comes from this album, which used to be my favorite by her. I still love it, but it isn’t my favorite anymore (this one is).
I have to admit that I too thought you were a magician for a long time.
And Bob isn’t an Optometrist? Damn! Learn something new everyday!
My name is fun… At least for me, I don’t know if anyone else enjoys confusion.
Actually (I’ve recently decided) my name is “Bob Theop Timist”. “Theop” being the proto-Celtic word for “dude with silly name” and I come from a long line of people involved with timing-related professions.
I still have problems with Cuncator (or whatever it is), c*nt-tater is not even close to the spelling, but somehow that’s how I read his name. And no, I don’t know what potatoes would be doing there, nor do I want to know.
I’ll bet that there’s a long Latin- or Greek-based name given to this general condition by the medical profession.
Am I right, Doctor?
BTW, I was pulled over by a cop a while ago, who commented on my license plate, saying something like “With a plate like that, you’re just asking to be pulled over.”
I said something like, “Huh?”
Cop: “Your plate says “SPLIFF” which is just advertizing that you’re a drug user.”
Me: “Um, Officer, my plate says “SPIFF” – which is my nickname.”
Cop: “Oh, I guess that’s why it didn’t come up on my computer.” :smack:
