Look at the Pit thread that was linked. He was repeatedly attacked and yet he kept his cool and repeatedly apologized and explained his thought processes. Where he felt he was right he defended himself. Where he re-thought his actions he apologized.
Like I said, I’ve never agreed with him, ever And…I haven’t crossed paths with him very often. But in the few times I have, he has acted civilly and responsibly.
I stand corrected. I new his username vaguely but we didn’t post in the same forums/threads so I knew little of him.
When I did cross his path he said something amazingly misguided (IMV) and pounced on him and found him to unrattled and rational. (to the extent wildly misguided posts can be considered “rational”)
He gives them a hard time over their punctuation, and gets a racist slur directed at his girlfriend.
His response was basically :‘If you were here in the real world, I’d beat you up for that racist, gutless, classless insult.’ The mods immediately called him on it. What should he have said, with the benefit of 2 years of hindsight? In that situation I doubt that most people would have been even that temperate.
The guy has been here for ages, and has a ton of posts. If someone dug through all of my posts - a small number, by comparison - or even a prolific, well respected poster such as Guinastasia, - whom I respect very much - I suspect they’d find some bad calls.
True, but mostly he didn’t seem to want to let it go. He reacted to the guy, okay. But then page after page of violent threads, and threats against the snackpit for some unknown reason, – just a wee bit of overkill.
I didn’t say I hated the guy. Nor did I agree with what mshar or whatever his name was said. Just that sometimes Argent tended to be, a little, how do we say, “obsessive?”
