Okay, which one of you jokers snuck in my house and stole my TV remote?

The problem with remotes is that they’re always remote.

Or the Post Office.

~VOW, that husband of yours may be the a blood relation to me. I have a basket or 2 full of remotes, old phones, random chargers and all those blue tooth things that used to come with cel phones.
Don’t lets talk about keys. :D.

I have a box full of random cords and cables. I can’t recall what any of them go to, but I don’t want to throw them away because what if.

Here’s the hack for programming all new devices painlessly and with minimal time invested: have offspring do it.

Beck, if you ever find the lost remote, see if there’s a red king-size fitted sheet nearby. I’ve been looking for it for years and years.

And isn’t the DirecTV remote the Worst. Remote. Ever?

YES! I hate the remote that came with the DirecTV box. I found it. No batteries last night. I got some today. I thought I’d go ahead and use it til my DIL gets here. I batteried up and pushed guide. Up pops the guide. I scrolled thru. Found something to look at. Can’t get the remote to show the channel. I just scroll and look wantonly at the shows I CAN’T watch. Grrr!
This keeps up and I may have figure out how to hook up my DVD player, again. But, I can’t remember where that remote is. :smack:

I once found something (don’t recall what) that was missing in the freezer.

My wife and I moved last summer and there are so many things missing, I despair. We do have all our remotes though.

On the good side I’ve found $36.32.
And 2 lost socks. Too bad I threw the mates away. I was sure the 1st lost ones were gone forever.

DIL got the new remote programmed. It was delicate operation. Touch and go.
I hate this remote, the volumn controls in an odd place. I keep hitting ‘go back’. It slings you back to 4 channels ago. I swear my TVs getting whiplashed.
Of course nothings on worth watching. (:()

I’ve got some advice for you people, that will take some discipline, but once you make it a habit, it will make your world exponentially happier. Labels. I label everything. I just opened up my drawer of cords, and inside are a bunch of ziplock baggies containing cords and each one has a label wrapped around the cord, so it won’t get misplaced. I’ve got a baggie containing a “Blackberry cord”, a “Portable DVD cord”, a “GameBoy cord” etc. Same with the remote cabinet: everything is labeled, so I know what it goes to. Every now and again, I throw cords, remotes, etc away when I realize I no longer have the device they belong to. I also label food in the freezer with description and date, and in my light bulb cabinet, the weird bulbs that go to my outdoor lights are labeled as such. Ahhhh it’s like heaven on earth at my house.

And I really don’t know why I even took the time to type this up, because I know that like my kids (whom I have bestowed this sage advice upon for years), NONE of you disorganized scatterbrainz will heed this profoundly wise advice.

So wait, lemme make sure I got this right, zip tie frozen food, label wires and lightbulbs go in the freezer, remotes go in the toaster.

Sounds a little weird but ok, I’ll try it.

That situation existed BEFORE you lost the remote.

So true.

I once used the bathroom at a gas station and the key was tied to a wheel rim so it never got lost.

I got my dremel tool and tiny driil bit. I drilled a tiny hole at the bottom thru the battery compartment of the new remote. I have some thin polyester string. Took a minute. But I got it strung up. I tied the other end to the lamp table next to my chair. I was sitting down on the floor doing this. There’s a little drawer on this table. I opened the drawer. Guess what’s in the drawer?
Just guess.
:smack:

Holy frick! Really?! In the drawer the whole time?

You know, I was about to post something about laying bets on when you found the old remote, now that you’d got a new one…
Look at it this way; now you have a spare!

Yep.

I hate myself!

I don’t hate you! I’m thrilled! Now you have your favorite, working remote, plus one you’ll never lose as a backup in case you lose the other one.

I cleaned out the little drawer so I can put the new huge remore control in there. In the back of the drawer were several batteries. Seemlingly new. I also found a nice pair of scissors. And very, very old TV guide.
Think I’ll kerp the TV guide. I already did the crossword.l
