OKC Dopers please check in. TORNADO

We’re under tornado watch right now. Hopefully nothing happens besides the rain and hail we’ve already seen this evening. This storm is just north of the one yesterday, isn’t it?

I was wanting to relax after my last final today, but I’m still a bit shaken from yesterday.

My dad was at Tinker last night, but thankfully nothing happened to him. We’ve also managed to get in touch with everyone we know in the area, and the worst that happened to them was loss of power.

Gary just reported tennis ball size hail in north Edmond.

A hook echo in Mulhall / Orlando / Perry area.

NCB, are you alright?

I got hit.

Family and friends and me are safe.

How are you guys?

Debris took out my Lincoln and several other cars.

I had gotten rid of my house a little while back (had to) and am currently in an apt. So, I went to my uncle’s brick house 2 blocks away. My old house took damage - poor guys. (It’s minor, tho. And it had a basement.)

We think the tornado must have lifted just as it got here, because the Shell station’s sign (NW63 & May) is in a tree right close to my car. My Honda is fine.

My GF is living with a friend of ours and her kid in Warr Acres. It went right past them.

I ws sick today, so we didn’t do anything. GF and roomy were watching a movie when the sirens went off. I called and they were fairly nervous. They took shelter in the hall (I remodled that place, so I know what rooms are safest there) as phone service cut out. Last thing she had said, “If you can’t get throught to me, would you come get me when it’s done?”

I was beside myself as extremely high winds were pelting the roof and windows of where I was. All I wanted was for it to be over so I could go get her (them).

It’s over. We are all safe. Their house has no power but phone service was restored in minutes (no physical damage, I guess).

She was pretty much in awe as she described it to me. I told her she had finally been in a tornado. I jsut wish I had been there, but it all fired up rather suddenly and looked like it wasn’t coming here. I took them to her roomy’s mom’s place since it has power.

Well, this makes my fourth.

If I’m not making much sense it’s because I’m on the down side of an adrenaline rush. Taking loads of phone calls and IMs, too. Family and friends from out of state.

How are you guys?

Damn.

I figured you might have – it was just too close.

The son-of-a-bitch was aimed right at me for a while, then it cut east.

The news is showing some really good damage on 50th and Rockwell – 60-70 planes done in.

Boy, we smelled the ozone earlier. The air was thick with it.

Other than that, we’re fine.

Oh, I forgot – CNN was carrying the channel 5 feed for a while. Too bad it was not Gary – though, I suppose you don’t really have a choice when you’re affiliated.

Tamara was just showing that pole that was moved in the ground as if it were a twig. Horrid stuff.

Were there 2? It sounded like that on the radio as we huddled in the bathroom. But, it was noisy, I was distracted, and the news guys were really excited and anxiuos.

But it sounded like there were two.

I just now turned the TV back on.

I’m a little freaked out now, I guess. I’m so glad the squeeze was safe. I really needed that to be so. She’s kind of important to me.

Man, my fever (I have a cold) is really high now. Must be all the activity and stress.

There were multiple vortices as far as Gary knows right now.

I have friends in Stroud. :frowning:

Oh, great – now a mile-wide wedge did in Stroud (halfway between here and Tulsa for you out-of-staters).

Look out, Tulsa.

I just read the simulpost – I’m very sorry to hear this. :frowning:

My prayers are with you and anyone else affected.

Oh, what a hellish night.

2 days in a row.

Chances are high for more severe weather tomorrow.

enough, okay?

What??

Possibly again tomorrow!!??!

This is insane.

Thanks, Joe K. I needed that.

God be with you, too.

I’m tired and all done out now. If anybody wants to post particulars to this thread as the news stations release them to the web, be my guest.

For some reason, a huge wave of depression just swept over me.

I’m going to bed.

wasin reply to your earlier post, btw.

My thoughts are with you NoClueBoy and all affected by the last two days.

Let’s hope there won’t be another storm like this tomorrow.

Thanks, y’all. I’m fine. It was just the windows of my car.

One of my friends in Bethany has some damage to his house.

Gonna go check the roof of the nocluebabe’s house in a few.

My Stroud friends actually live a good ways north of town, so I should hear that they’re fine as soon as I can get through.

I figure (from TV coverage) that the funnel lifted and passed over me, but dropped debris (on my car!) all over the place. Plus, we also felt the inflow winds as it passed overhead.

News is saying no fatalities and few injuries. But, it’s a mess.

I was about five minutes ahead of last night’s storm, driving in to work. I thought about riding it out at home, but decided I’d rather not be driving in any aftermath. Fortunately, it took a little turn north and missed my house by several miles. It was ind of spooky to see the wall cloud during lightning flashes in the rear view mirror. No damage at my place, but some branches I’ve been needing to trim no longer need trimming.

This morning feels just like it has for the last couple of days. I hope we’re not in for another round.
