So, I met my current girlfriend on OkCupid. We’ve had our ups and downs, which ironically lead us towards falling in love with each other.
As of now, she has moved into my apartment and we are getting her on the lease this weekend. I’m very excited. We are in love with each other and I look forward to spending my life with her.
Ups/downs, ins/outs… sounds about right.
A lot of people tell me there aren’t supposed to be ups and downs, but we honestly wouldn’t have fallen in love with each other if we didn’t have those rocky patches.
Shakespeare may have disagreed with that.
That’s awesome! Hope it lasts forever. 
A lot of people have it wrong then - you can’t have two people who spend any length of time together and not have ups and downs. If you don’t, it’s because one or both are trying too hard to be what the other one wants rather than to being themselves in the relationship.
How y’all handle the downs is a great indicator of how good the relationship is going to be. It sounds like y’all have it right! Congrats!
Ups and downs are fine. But if there is anything that you don’t like but think to yourself, “It will get better,” run. It won’t get better. Believe me there were signs with my ex-wife but I chose to ignore them. If you fight with her now, it will get worse not better. Disagreements are fine. Being temporarily annoyed with each other is fine. Long drawn out fights? Not for this guy.
We set boundaries with each other when we became exclusive.
We both said:
-No cheating
-Resolve fights before going to bed
-Never use sex as a barter system
-Understand where the other person is coming from
-Each person should give half to the relationship
-Finances are split evenly
Hate to be a buzzkill, but they are both going to die eventually.
