OkGo drones on...

New video from the band-I Won’t Let You Down

Starts off with the band dancing on motorized stools then goes outside where the rest of the video is shot from overhead by a drone.

Wow, very cool.

The choreography with the umbrellas creating that computer-matrix effect is staggeringly awesome.

As usual, another amazing video by them. I also liked how they filmed it at half-speed, then dialed up the playback to double-speed to create that zippy effect. Looks like they needed the extra time too so everybody could hit their marks and timing.

Here is the Behind the Scenes.

I was wondering if they performed some computer cleanup to get the movements so crisp, until I saw the bit about filming it at half-speed–clever. It also looks like they did some compositing at the end, but everything was done without CGI.

As always, super cool video. The spinning portion made me a bit dizzy.

I counted the rows and columns of umbrella girls, and just the 4-color portion was 1,728 people (32x54). That’s not counting the white ticker-tape portion, which was more dense column-wise. So probably 2,500 people. That’s gonna make for one hell of a craft services call.

This is what impresses me about their videos. Even when the filming speed is slow or fast, they maintain both lip sync and movements with the music.

That’s because they play the song at half speed over a sound system, and the director/choreographer is shouting out cues as well (along with weeks of rehearsal, I’m sure).

I only guessed this was the case at first, but now that I watched the Behind the Scenes vid, it confirms it. It’s kinda funny, actually.

Agree that the video is very cool.

I gotta say, though: The song sucks.

I just paused on the storyboard and it says that was the 127th take.

Meh, the North Koreans have been doing this sort of thingfor years…

Not as long as Busby Berkeley

Now* that* was awesome. Thanks for the link.

Fantastic. Thanks for the link.

Cool!
