(Old) A Day Off in the MMP

That’s “bio-break” time.
When it is one’s day off, one is allowed to climb straight back into bed afterwards, arrange the covers just so, heave an enormous sigh, and drift back off.

Ariel got her spring shots and teeth floated today. And a fecal sample so the vet can check for worms. Nobody had as much fun today as I did. Stopped for a beef dipped and o rings at Portillo’s. I ate too much.

They last for six months. It’s still cheaper (and less itchy) than having him treated for fleas.

I’m sorry, cat glove.

Yep. After trying to cheap out and him getting infested last year, I put them on subscription from Chewy.

I grew up with a set of those in amber.

Irked, came home, et and now to play around in the studio.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

How is it Monday again?

It’s sunny! Probably won’t last.

The next two weeks are a nightmare of busyness. I basically have six jobs and all of them are converging on me at once. I realized that with one exception, the next time I actually get to go home in the evening on a week day is in May.

It’s entirely my fault. I could have picked a less stressful occupation, like combat medic or the president of Ukraine.

Howdy Y’all! As predicted, we’ve been RDOS layabouts all day. Still rainin’ but that’s due to end soon. I read a lot of the oh so rivetin’ Priest’s Handbook today. OYKW looked through a couple of chapters and said it made his haid hurt. He needed cookies to recover. We achieved nappage and day drinkin’. I was productive enough to bring the neighbor’s and our trash cans all the way back up from the road to where they live and make sup. Go me!

A little bit of snow just now.
A neighbor on a side street was out with his dog, who I call Puff. Seems the poor guy, age 15, is now blind and has liver trouble.:people_hugging:
The dog, not the neighbor.

Looks like our rain is done for the day, but there’s a frost/freeze warning for the morning. And on tonight’s news, I found out why (probably) we couldn’t see the giraffes at the zoo last week. So I look forward to our next visit.

Got a call from the pellet stove servicing company - we’re on the schedule for a cleaning on Apr 28. So yay! And I did my bike riding. That’s this afternoon and evening’s excitement.

FCD is going to the boat tomorrow and I plan to do some Happy Homemaker cleaning and stuff. I may even (brace yourselves) dust… It’s going to be a pretty day, but chilly. Maybe I’ll venture out in the afternoon, maybe not.

Now it’s time for Inspector Lynley, followed by Vera. Our evenings are, well, they are.

I just bought some coffee recently. I think we still have seven or eight 2-pound bags of Dark Roast. But Community Coffee is having another sale. Until Thursday, you get 35% off all orders over $45 with promotional code BLOOMING35. I always buy enough coffee ($45) to get the free shipping. Anyway, the discount it too much to pass up. And coffee is imported so I should stock up a little bit before the tariff prices ensue.

I bought four, 32-ounce bags each of ground Dark Roast, French Roast, and Café Special (Medium Roast). Instead of $19.99/bag (ten bucks a pound) each bag was only $12.99 ($6.50/pound). The last time I ordered 24 pounds of coffee was November 28th. I still had a couple/few bags left when I took advantage of their last sale on March 19th. (That one was only 20% off, so I only bought six bags.)

Anyway, we’ll have coffee for a couple/few months. :hot_beverage:

And a good early evening all. Have swam and lifted weights (the trainer made me do 50 squats today, whoa that was tough) but all in all not bad. Jack’s (a local burger place) provided the evening sustenance and I am now debating going back to the gym for a little more swimming (soccer practice was rained out as expected). Only 51F now so I’m glad I didn’t put the space heater away or remove the heavy comforter from the bed yet.

doggio, I don’t understand about 70% of your comments, but I can discern FUBAR real easy. Hope the Beer Day celebration kept you hopped up…

Wheelie, been awhile since I’ve been to an airshow, will have to keep my eyes open to see if there’s one near me in the future.

FCM, sometimes people just feed on the worst habits. Hope organization takes place soon.

wet one, so getting your horse shot and collecting horse sh…doo-doo is fun? Well, different strokes…and what is floating your horse’s teeth??

Pavo, just keep to the schedule and think about the paychecks and the time you’ll have in May.

flyboy, happy coffeeing…

And it’s closing in on 7pm so if I’m going to the gym it has to be now. Take care all.

What a day it’s been! I got tortured at the eye clinic–seriously, negative fun–but no partial contact in there, just a lot of inflammation from where it was apparently stuck for awhile. They think it probably came out while I was flooding it with artificial tears. The doc bumped up the prednisone drops, as I knew he would. Unfortunately, I’m about out, but they phoned in an Rx.

I’m not seeing well out of my right contact lens, and that was my last contact for the left one, so things will be blurry until the new ones arrive, hopefully in a couple weeks. (They have to be custom made.) I was worried they’d be even more expensive, but they’re actually cheaper. Yay!

After arriving at the bus station downtown, I walked to the grocery store, as I needed bananas and oatmeal. Just as I left, Max’s person called to ask me to dog-sit right away, so I hustled home. He was a gentleman. I call him Maximus, King of the Cavaliers. Anyway, his person said her BP is down, and the doc isn’t worried about another stroke.

In the midst of all that, Old Flame called, but I told him to call tomorrow morning.

Whew! Over 6 miles walked today.

“Don’t stand in the boat. Oh, wait, that was the Delaware.” – George Washington.

Please excuse my ignorance. What’s the difference between the Thunderbolts and the Blue Angels?

I’m sorry for your rough day, but oh, I’m envying your Portillo’s meal! Now I’m craving an Italian beef and won’t get one until August.

Holy smokes! That’s mind-boggling! I hope you get to sleep now and then.

“Liquor is quicker.” --Ogden Nash.

Snow?! Yikes. Not sure where you are. Is your mail delivered by Donder and Blitzen?

MetalMouse, after all those squats, you’re going back to the gym? I salute you!

I am east of Cleveland.
ChurchGuy came over bringing me t.p!

The Thunderbirds are Air Force and the Blue Angels are Navy. Their performances are quite similar - to me, anyway, though someone who knows more than I do can probably point out other differences besides their service branches.

As I understand it it is a vet using a file to keep horses teeth from getting to long and affecting their bite and therefore their nutrition.

It’s their military affiliation. Thunderbirds are US Navy. The Blue Angels are US Air Force.

We may have to remedy that with a Mumpfest some summer. My town was home to the former Sewert AFB. We host an air show featuring the Flying Thunderbirds or the Blue Angels most summers. I can watch most of the show (with adult beverages handy) from my patio or the front lawn of the complex. I also get to see practice maneuvers before the show.

Air Force and Navy. (beat to the punch by wheelie and BBBoo )

Up from naptime, having some Sierra Nevada Pale Ale

The one manager I replaced at Dollar Tree quit to become a missionary nurse, because it was less stressful to get mortared at a hospital in Sudan than stay in retail management.

My favorite is always the classic aircraft(static or flying)

:frowning:

That’s why I always keep 10 bags of HT Ethiopian beans on hand.

Thunderbirds: Air Force, fly F-16s
Blue Angels: Navy, fly F-18s, supported by Fat Albert

He used to bark whenever I’d walk by, he was feisty. I petted him and he turned his head, so I let him smell me and he licked my hand.
I’m not a dog person at all. We think our furry friends will be feisty always but they won’t.
I hope he’s got some more good times left, he was rolling around in the grass.
Go hug your dogs tonight.

I paced myself so well that all I did today was play with thread. (And change the sheets, then wash the sheets. As long as I was dealing with that stuff, I also did a load of towels, napkins and place mats. (They go into a mesh bag so I can pull them out and put them on the drying rack - but they still do need touching up with an iron.)

Din was sketti with spicy Italian sausage, a green salad and a take and bake chibatta roll for me. Mr low carb didn’t get any noodles or bread.

If I was a kid, I don’t think I’d have a good time running around in that weather, so I think that everyone probably agreed.

Boring days are much better than exciting days IMHO.

I’m glad you got your tip $ so you could indulge yourself

WV requires regular vehicle inspections. When Hubs got his car done, the mechanic just walked around his car and gave him back his keys (after hubs paid for the work of course). When he took my car in, they bitched about getting caught on a sting and took my car in and took all four of the wheels off and put them back on. I don’t think they did anything with the wheels, but we had to wait for them to “properly” inspect my car just because rules.

That’s saying a lot considering you had to pay for everything.

I’m sorry for reacting the way I did, fleas and ticks are just something I’ve read about, not experienced before now. This is why the fuzzbutts aren’t going to get a catio, we have already had to treat them for fleas AND for worms and we don’t have carpets. I swear to gawd, if Hubs comes in with a tick attached, we will be going to the ER because I’m NOT going to touch it.

I really had no idea about this part. Of course I’ve read about it, but when you are used to living somewhere too hot for fleas to survive…you just don’t get it.

Look at you being a good neighbor and all. Go you!

Depending on the time of day, coffee and beer are the only things that keep me happy.

That is wonderful. Can you afford to buy more while the price is as low as it will ever be?

BTW @purplehorseshoe I understand that Walmart is already worried about the boycott and will be selling a whole bunch of loss leaders (things they sell for less than cost to get you to come in and buy other stuff) for pretty cheap. I will not think less of you if you choose to take advantage of the cheap TP and kitty litter. I would rather you save the money for later, you will need it.

Besides being a RDOS today, I got some more stitching in. Hubs has been Mr Crankypants all day, I think he’s starting to stress about the insulation guys. He doesn’t want to stay in the motel with us despite the insulation guys saying that we have to be gone due to the chemicals they will be spraying around.

They won’t want or need him, they won’t even need to come in the house because the attic access is in the attached storage room.

He’s also fussing over their carrier/s. GG gets really upset without his thinking brain cat close to hand and Hubs wants them in separate carriers in case Jolene poops to show her displeasure over the ten minute drive.

I"m so happy that the hotel is right next to a dispensary, I’ll probably be visiting at least once. Murder has not yet been ruled out.

He’s probably stressing them out, needlessly, due to his own stress.

Squirt some Feliway at him, maybe that’ll help.

Shit, I’m feeling my own blood pressure rise, just reading about what he’s doing.
Chill, Mr. JtC. Just friggin’ chilll.

Late night final here. Did make back to the gym for some more swimming and a little cycling so calories consumed and calories exercised met my planned allowance for the day. Am now considering bedtime in the near future, it’s down to 42F and a freeze warning is in effect for the next couple of nights; this past weekend we were worried about the heat affecting the little kids playing soccer…weather be weird.

I’ve been lucky enough to see both the Blue Angels and Thunderbirds over the years, along with the Italian Frecce Tricolori team. airshows can be fun.

Nellie, hoping that the eye heals up fine. And yeah, the gym trainer says I am doing better with them, and I must admit that I can feel the difference in my arms and legs, so will soldier on.

BBBoo, then why don’t they just call it tooth filing?

red, Scott AFB near St. Louis was my go-to for airshows when I lived up there, not so much available near me now.

My greatest memory of Air Shows was being able to take a 15-minute flight in a fully-restored Ford Tri-motor about 30 years ago.

JtC, no complaints about no practice. Looking at maybe doing a makeup on Friday. And Hubs does bit want to be there for the insulation installation, trust me on that…

And it’s 10:30 in the PM so need to finish up and depart for Slumberland. Catch up with y’all tomorrow.

I’m guessing because it sounds so much kinder and gentler as ‘floating’, like a ballerina.
