So, not a sneaky ninja.
Do they sell boric acid where you live? It’s a white powder (here it’s at every hardware store and even some big box grocery stores, by the roach bait and mouse traps) and it’s basically poison to all insects.
To deal with ants, cut a plastic drinking straw into smaller pieces (approx. 4 cm or so) and mix a some boric acid powder into a spoonful or two of jam/jelly. (The person who told me this said they were told that mint works best.)
The jelly will become pastel colored and opaque.
Using a toothpick, scoop a bit of the mix into each end of the straw piece, then tape it … wherever you like.
Certainly on their trails, and basically wherever you commonly see them.
They take the poison bait back to the nest, and triumphantly feed it to their queen.
It takes a few weeks, but they WILL disappear, and you can tape the bait where kids/pets can’t reach.
Stoners are such creative engineers.
Today was brilliantly sunny, but COLD (the sunshine was a lie!).
However - and I swear I didn’t see any as recently as last weekend - there are daffodils exuberantly popping up in their random spots, and I saw a few hyacinth and crocus, too.
Got home long before dusk, so Monkey got some outside time and even a roll in some catnip I sprinkled on the driveway.
Worked a whopping hour anna half of overtime last week, but my paycheck was just a wee bit heftier - that was nice.
Last night’s vegetarian quiche (spinach and tomato, plus the requisite onion) was delishush, and disappeared rapidly.
I have enough left for tonight, although there’s plenty of the ingredients left to make another one … oh, wait, I’m out of tomato.
Well, still, I can conjure up something, and meantime, I need to use the stuff for another grape-apple-celery salad. The last one I made I swear, had just a whisper of chicken.
I’m mostly there for the dressing anyway - the balsamic really takes it over the top, and the red grapes I’ve gotten are light years from the sour, seed-filled red grapes of my youth.
More fruits and veggies in a few weeks than I usually consume over the course of months so go, me, bein’ all healthy and shit!
