(Old) A high seas MMP

In the one I woke up from, I needed to get to the third floor, but none of the elevators would stop there. Oddly enough, IRL, I live on the third floor.

Maybe I’m just a potato snob. Fries with burgers, tater tots with filet! Sheesh.

:joy::joy:

We’re back at sea. Leaving port was interesting. We backed out till we got to a wider area, then pivoted around so we could go forward. Thrusters are way cool! We even have them on our little boat - the maneuverability they permit makes getting into/out of tight areas so easy!

Not only do the elevators have day-of-the-week rugs, but they call out the floors by number and name. Unfortunately, the voice is AI and no one has tweaked it. Most of the decks are named after musicians/composers. And deck 4 is pronounced bee-THO-vin, and I can’t figure out the phonetics for how it says “Mozart”, but FCD says it sounds like lizard.

Ah, technology!

Wicket’s 1010 pieces! When the movie came out, they were selling plush Ewoks. One evening I discovered this, and mentioned this to my parents, as this was not long before Christmas. After Christmas, I found out my mom had to leave the room, because she had already bought me one and was tickled pink that she got it before I had even asked for it.

Thanks. That’s what the doctor is planning. No robot, just her. I’ve been reading up, and it seems many U.S. women have the surgery and go back home. After the procedure I’ll get two nights at the hospital and then two weeks off work.

I guess I have to buy a nightgown or something…

Not sure about the okra, but fresh creamed corn. We’re going to the farmer’s market tomorrow to get more strawberries (somebody wants another pie) and see if I can get some beefsteak tomatoes.

Not me, but here’s somebody who’s done it.

That would be a 10 hour trip for me, so I hope it’s a bit shorter for you, epecially if you’re just going for the weekend.

Root canal doesn’t sound like fun, but glad you don’t have to wait too long to get the tooth fixed.

Sounds like a clambake got crossed with a BBQ. My grandfather would eat some strange combinations - his excuse was it was all going in the same place.

Thanks for the good wishes. The doctor gave me her card, so I can call with questions. At some point I have to figure out how to tell my parents without them going into full panic mode. Since I’ll see them before the surgery, I think I’ll do it in person.

It’ll be my first surgery. My dad’s first surgery was when he was 49. I think my mom’s first surgery was her knee replacement at 79, unless cataract surgery counts.

I am now officially allergic to latex. At least for medical procedures. I get a reaction from contacting black rubber, such as escalator handrails, and that’s enough for her to update my medical records accordingly.

And on that note, time to go to bed. Good night!

Hello! I’m back! My old computer went on the fritz. We got a new one, and after two or three days of swearing and trying this and that, my brilliant wife got all the old stuff wrung out of the old one and into this one. I hope I’m in the right topic. We’ll see.

My advise is to call the office, and make sure they are okay with having a patient “watching” them. Not all practices are. And make sure that they will let you do it without a ride if you skip the sedation.

Other than that, make sure they know your sex. (That’s true for any colonoscopy) The colon is shaped a little differently in women than in men, and it will be more comfortable if they know what they are doing. (That’s mostly an issue for trans people.)

Some people have kinkier colons than others, and i think it’s more uncomfortable if it’s kinkier. I’m pretty vanilla. It hurt a little going around one bend, but was otherwise only slightly unpleasant. And i had a blast watching the exam. They shove the scope all the way up, and do the exam on the way out. I didn’t find the exam uncomfortable at all, at least, not that I noticed. I was pretty engaged looking at parts i never see.

They do pump your colon with gas (used to be air, now it’s nitrogen, which you can absorb instead of having to fart it all out.) If you feel really uncomfortable when you have gas, it might be worse for you than it was for me.

I’ve done two, now, and I’m a fan. Drive there, prep, watch the exam, wipe away some lube, get dressed, and drive out.

You may want to check to see if they’d melt. Some vendors refuse to ship chocolates during the summer months because of that.

Welcome back knotty! Glad you got everything sorted, computerwise.

A couple of appointments for Sis to tour done and a couple of more places eliminated. One place answered the phone in Spanish and when I requested (in Spanish) to conduct the inquiries in English, I was put on hold and left there. I hung up after fie minutes. Basically, what that told me was that, should I need office or maintenance assistance, there may well be a language barrier, given my meh command of Spanish and theirs of English.

After, I took Nelson to the dog park. I think he could get used to doing this on a regular basis again.

Mrs. L.A. just headed out to the bi-weekly banner hanging in Bellingham. Should be home by six. If not, she wants me to call the police.

Cousin is gone. She was a wonderful person who did a lot of good in her life, she will be very missed.

I just watched a vid of an ICE vehicle getting towed because it was parked in a handicapped spot! (They rolled up to raid a hospital and disappear a janitor.)

Setting aside skin cancer excisions, and sewed up minor lacerations, needing surface stitches I made it to 63 before a real OR + sedation surgery. Which fact seemed to have surprised the staffers doing the work. Really< this is your first time … ???

ETA: JtC: Condolences. Your post appeared while I was typing. Sonner is better, sad though the situation is.

I’ve heard ICE vehicles are being towed now in some places.

Condolences for the loss of your cousin.

Howdy Y’all! Weather decided to cooperate so we had some quality cee-mint pond time. This was followed by showers and nappage. Well, one shower cause the shower is big enough for both of us. Get your minds out of the gutter people! All we did was shower*. Sup was beyond nummy if’n I do say so myself. There was a nice tstorm an hour ago. We quaffed beerverages while we watched it on the back porch.

JtC sorry about cousin but it appears her passin’ was peaceful.

My last colonoscopy and the ones before were, well, not too bad. The prep is the worst part. I was out of it for the procedure. I remember wakin’ up in the recovery room (AKA fart room as we call it cause we’re so classy) doin’ the fart thing and havin’ some diet Coke. Then again I do have someone who can drive me.

*this time

Jane, I’m sorry to hear about your cousin.

My new 13.5" non-stick pan arrived today. I have to say goodbye to my faithful Berndes pan that I’ve had for 20 years or more. Built like a tank, never warped, thick steel bottom, and a tough non-stick surface. But alas, the non-stick has been sticking for awhile so it’s time for it to go. I’m sure this T-fal won’t hold up as well, but such is life. ::sound of taps playing, softly::

Pancakes tomorrow!

I’m still dreading the camera up the butt. The biggest problem I have is they’re saying no NSAIDS for 5 days prior. I don’t think I’ll be able to walk if that is true, my back is not going to deal well with that.

I bought a heavy, 8.5-inch, non-stick KitchenAid frying pan more than 25 years ago (from Target). A year or so ago, I noticed it’s not as non-stick as it used to be. I’ve kept it, but haven’t used it since I bought the closest KitchenAid replacement for it I can find. The new pan is lighter. We’ll see how long it stays slippery.

How is the cat? (I’m worried, for reasons. :crying_cat: )

And a good early evening to y’all. Mailed via Priority mail the chocolate boxes to Brother, they are due to arrive Monday and hopefully will be edible. The lady doing the postage asked if there was anything special about it and I told here chocolates and she typed something into the system, so who knows. Padded the box pretty well so it should arrive ok. Then gymmed and came home to cheese dogs for a mid-day meal, will have my big bowl O’Sallit later tonight to finish my calorie count.
Clouds threatened rain this afternoon but none showed up, so will consider mowage this weekend. Temperature is only 83F so not too bad for around here.

FCM, I usually prefer fries with my steak, but can get along with mashed or baked potatoes when necessary. but ketchup…nah. And yeah, our ship had to do some interesting turns getting out of the fjords, thrusters have made ships way more maneuverable these days.

JtC, I do have a living will attached to my legal and notarized will, so that should hopefully suffice.

Cookie, hope Sadie is just having a ‘mood’ and is well. But if it continues take flyboy’s advice. And hope the new pan works as well for you as the old one did.

Oopsie, work can wait when necessary; and I think it is necessary. I’ll do a PM and describe what it is I want to send you.

dicey, laproscopic is the way to go, while they will keep you that long is a mystery, but if thems the rules…and puzzlegal offers some good advice, too.

As for surgeries, I had my Gall Bladder out at 39, my elbow repaired at 47, and my hernia fixed at 72, so hopefully I can go awhile before another one.

Howdy Knots!! Glad the new 'puter is working good and you’ve come to the right place.

flyboy, hope you don’t have to bust Mrs.LA out of the hoosegow…

JtC, my condolences on cousin’s passing.

And time to get the salad bowl ready. Have a good evening all.

:people_hugging:

Thanks to everyone for the kind words. She passed easily and surrounded by family.

Talk to them about this. Tell them about your pain levels and ask for options. Most medical folks really do not want their patients to be in pain and also often understand that when someone does physical work daily, their bodies wear out.

Surgeries. Well, I got fixed when I was 19. That was many MANY years ago which is why I am staying out of the discussion about such surgeries. Things were much different back then…except for me being a wimp. That will never change.

Hubs spent the evening mowing the yard in a diagonal pattern. He has been so productive that I’m afraid he’s going to be really hurting tomorrow morning.

He managed to scare some fireflies up by the french doors and Jolene is losing her furry lil mind over them.

I think I’ll go out in the back and watch the deer munch in the gully with fireflies flying around in the background.

Here you go

Concur. Putting ketchup on something is an excellent way to protect it from me.

Mrs. L.A. was not arrested. The group were flipped off by angry MAGAts.

She asked what we’re going to do tomorrow. I suggested we hop across the border and visit Surrey; or, we could go down to the Admiralty Head Lighthouse again. She chose the lighthouse. After returning from her banner-hanging in support of immigrants, she said, ‘Let’s go to Surrey.’ She’s had enough of angry people and wants to go where people are happy.

So I’ve bought us a couple of tickets for the Heritage Rail Adventure train ride. It lasts an hour, and only cost CDN$54.50 for the two of us. That’s only forty bucks, American.
