(Old) A high seas MMP

There are people who don’t squeegee their glass shower panels after showering? :scream:

Ouch. I hope going into Canada was a lot less painful. Sorry the excursion wasn’t what you were expecting.

You had mentioned visiting White Rock and it was your first visit. My parents, who have lived in the Seattle area for 55+ years, just visited White Rock for the first time last year. Their favorite part was the Chinese restaurant(s).

Today is paperwork. Some pages of reading to do, plus survey to fill out about allergies, height, weight, etc. In German, with probably a lot of medical terms I’ve never seen before. At least many of the German medical terms are direct translations (the word for ovary is basically egg supply in German) or Latin.

Breakfast was scones with homemade jam. I had made the scones yesterday, so today’s scones are day ol. Hamburgers on the grill for lunch. I made refrigerator pickles on Friday evening, so those should be ready for today. Might have an egg for dinner, or just cheese and fruit

And we have to work on the strawberry pie. Such is life.

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 20c/70f with a predicted high of 25c/78f and cloudy. Weather app says “Of all the fucking cloudy days, this one is a complete wankface. At least it’s not fucking cold outside.”

{{{{{JtC}}}}} I am sorry for your loss, sounds like Cousin’s passing was peaceful.

Yesterday was pleasant, we got up late and got showered before heading out for lunch. We went to check out a place we used to go to every time we came to Antwerp but last time it was closed. Now it is a coffee place run by two Algerian brothers - had a nice lunch there before having a wander down to the river.

We sat by the water just watching the world go by for a while then walked back towards the cathedral via a couple of bars. I have a favourite restaurant by the cathedral which is always busy but found they had a new location by the river so we ate there.

We strolled through the main square and stopped at the Irish Times for a nightcap before returning to our hotel. In bed before midnight!

Today we were up in time for breakfast, chilling in our room for a bit before getting showered and ready to go out. Our usual Sunday plan is a visit to the zoo. 'im indoors wants stoofvlees (Flemish beef stew) today, I had that yesterday at Elfde Gebod and he had ribs, so that’s his choice for dinner later.

Aaaaaaand another foggy day at sea. Tomorrow is supposed to be the scenic cruise in some bay - with luck, it’ll be clear.

It’s after 9 and we’re still abed. My sweetie is sleeping and I just finished another trashy novel. One part of me wants to bring some breakfast back to the room. Another part is too lazy.

It’s vacation and I’m allowed.

Happy Sunday!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today. Morning cleaning and afternoon sloth and thunderstorms are on the agenda.

Well, I got that wrong - today is scenic cruising of Prince Christian Sound. And, as our last scenic cruise day, it’s thickly foggy.

We’re up and showered and almost ready for breakfast. We should make it by 10…

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 75 Amurrkin out and sunny with a predicted high of 95 and sunny. The big item on today’s agenda is deheathenization in which I have verger duty. We will return to da cave after for sammiches and sloth. Sup will be leftovers from Firday.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then purtification for deheathenization shall commence.

Happy Sunday Y’all!

Too much to keep up with!

We did go see Superman on Friday. It was very good, especially the dog! We even got a ‘popcorn bucket’ of Crypto. If y’all remember my boy, Bubba, it kind of looks like a giant version of him. :purple_heart:

I’ve just been playing with silverware and other items. I’ll probably be doing more of that today. And getting way too anxious about how the show is going to go and how I’ll be able to transport everything there if MusicMan has to work.

Mornin’ all - About 0745 as I start driveling. Sun’s been up an hour & I’ve been up 90 minutes balconatin’ & caffinatin’. Usual warm tropical w puffies. No rainshowers out there to be seen. Yet.

Good sleeps and I’ve already been productive, knocking out 3 admin tasks that had been festering for a week, a month, and 2 months respectively. The total time to do all 3 was about 8 minutes while sipping coffee. Why did I torture myself avoiding this triviality for a combined 3+ months over nada? Because I’m stoopit, that’s why.

I certainly hope she can succeed the first time. Having Sis on site surely helps.

IME it’s the unknown unknowns that get you. If they’re going to. Which are often actually unknowable unknowns such that no amount of prep & homework could possibly have alerted you to their lurking presence in your future. Until the future arrives.

Sloth forth there FCM

flyboy: As to lamps I’d somehow gotten the impression you’d moved into that residence in the last 5-10 years, and I was expecting the mass replacement of built-in lamps had been done by the previous occupant without your awareness. I too never replaced lamps proactively; except for when I needed to borrow tools, erect scaffolding, etc., to reach the area. For that special case I did them all at once.

Sometimes the train adventure you get is different from the train adventure you expected. But that does sound like an interesting collection of fun, albeit individually small, experiences. Sux about the traffic; what a sad way to end an otherwise good time.

boofae: sounds like a great adventure there.

As to me …
Thinking about the day’s plans, seems like shevelment, breakfast, & RDOS. Thought about baseball but the Marlins are out of town and the minor leaguers are playing an early afternoon game; I prefer evening (~6pm) games. Although this time of year, “evening” is more like late afternoon, and sunset occurs near the 7th inning.

Well, I’ll think of something. I guess it’ll be a surprise for all of us.

Looks to be smokey again today. We’re supposed to go to see “Cabaret” at the local theater. We’ve bailed on every concert and performance over the past several months because of the wife’s dizziness, so we’ll see how she’s doing this morning.

Good morning all. Have done the NY Times and Krispy Kreme runs, the paper will be read later today and the donuts (I refuse to state how many I got) are already half-gone. So a good start to the morning. About 10am I will perform mowage and the rest of the day is in the ‘we’ll see’ category. Already 76F and heading to 91F, we’ll be seeing those kind of numbers through October here.

flyboy, sounds like an interesting trip, need to add it to my (overflowing) Bucket List.

boo fae, you always seem to have the most interesting weekends. Much thanks for the travelogue.

FCM, the main buffet was located just two decks below my cabin so up the steps and breakfast is served. But having it served in bed should be done sometime during the cruise, IMHO. Hope the fog breaks so you can see some scenery–and I just saw youFacebook pictures, very nice.

Happy Vergering swampy.

Sticky Buns, not much into the various Superman renditions (was a fan of the animated series) but might have to give this one a look, once the rush settles down.

Nah, just un-motivated; something us RDOS folks are good at.

Cookie, hope you and wife can make it to the show.

And guess what…all my donuts are gone (but certainly not forgotten). Have a good Sunday all.

So at least two.

And then there were none.

I forget what fable, fairy tale, or nursery rhyme that line came from, but it sure seems applicable here.

And then there were none.

All I can remember is that it is the title of one of Agatha Christie’s most famous and successful mystery novels.

My poor children missed out on that nursery rhyme I guess. Surprising that they turned out as well as they did.

There was only a short wait getting into Canada. Maybe the difference is because we’ve gone up in the morning and came back in the afternoon. I was shocked to see an estimated wait time of two hours at the Peace Arch crossing, and 70 minutes at the Pacific crossing. (I chose the Pacific crossing.) Maybe next time I’ll try Sumas on the way back.

December, 2003.

Cruising the Prince Christian Sound is amazing! Some pics on FB, but much time spent looking, not photographing. Such a stark landscape…

We found a couple of comfy chairs on deck 2 by a windows. Mostly quiet, except for the occasional passerby.

No! You’re human, that’s all.

So, tell me, Oopsie, do you have one of these?

Ok, probably going to take a nap soon. I’ve been working on silverware stuff all morning.

Mornin’ all.

It’s already 69°F and it’s sunny outside. Once again, sunshine will be plentiful, and our expected daytime temperature is 92°F.

I had a hell of a time locating the MPP this morning; fortunately, someone had quoted me, so I found the link that way. It just disappeared…again.

The Farmers Market was quite nice. There were definitely crafts there, but also plenty of produce and even meat. I came home with freshly grown cauliflower, bi-color corn, Rainier cherries, Italian plums, white peaches, green and yellow zucchini, and a couple of other items. There are also food trucks and beautiful flowers there. I’m trying to convince my husband to go next weekend. If there’s food to eat, he’s bound to go, but I warned him we need to be there for opening because parking turns a little crazy.

Other than making sure the posies are well watered, I don’t have much on the agenda today. I had planned on getting up early to be at my usual walking park at 7:00 a.m., but I was tired and went back to bed at 5:00 a.m., and slept in until about 7:00.

I was tired because the A-Hole neighbors next door had another party. While the adults all reveled to thumping music and drank, the children were outside shrieking at the top of their lungs. Most annoying.

I know I missed much, but I’m sending all of you my best. Take care.

Happy Doperversary, liirogue! :shortcake:

And happy Sunday, everyone else!

We had a substantial thunderstorm around dinnertime, but the humidity said “nice try”: it’s currently 81°F with 83% humidity, and feels like 88. And it’s not even 10:30am. Blech. Still, I shall venture forth in about an hour: I’m meeting a friend for lunch and a matinee. We’ll be having Thai (panang chicken! yum!), and seeing a community theatre production of Hairspray. During lunch we’ll decide when we’d like to see Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, which is in DC through early September. We’ll be looking for tickets kind of late in the game, and we’re picky about getting good seats, so whether we actually go will depend on what’s still available on our preferred date(s). Anyway, I’m already showered so all I’ll need to do in a little while is put “real” clothes on. But one of the nice things about community theatre productions is that the dress code tends toward the casual.

I did rent Men in Black II last night: both it and Men in Black (which I rented Friday night) were entertaining enough, but not as much as I’d remembered. In both cases I’d say that the related Will Smith songs were better than the movies – especially “Black Suits Comin’ (Nod Ya Head)” and MIBII.

My Lego obsession got the better of me – again – yesterday, and I ordered a small retired set: a diorama of the Star Wars trash compactor scene. The walls move and everything! It should arrive on Tuesday (the Ewok set won’t arrive until early August). This time I actually figured it out where I’ll display it ahead of time! :joy:

And, thanks to a post in the Retail Therapy: What’s The Most Fun Thing You’ve Bought on a Whim? thread, I also ordered a wooden tram car kit; it will arrive this afternoon. I’m hoping it will scratch the same mental itch as assembling a Lego set, because these wooden kits are a lot cheaper! If it turns out well enough, I might offer it to my father as home decor: he loves cable cars and trams.

Not much else to write about at the moment. Work will be on the busy side this week: I’m done with the proposal for a few days but I have a bunch of other stuff to do, plus Wednesday is (hopefully) when I’ll be swapping desks with a colleague and moving to a bigger cubicle.

The things we do for our furry creatures…

Now I’m curious: is there room service on cruise ships?

(I’ve only gone on one cruise, 20 years ago, and friends paid for my entire trip. If room service had been an option in general, it wasn’t an option for me. )

:crossed_fingers: !

Nope…heh! I’d seen them before, but I’m happy with my age-appropriate luggage. :joy: Though I’m currently thinking I might get one of these when they’re back in stock, even though I really don’t need another tote bag.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and KP done.

Last night was a very restless night. I was up at least every hour until about five, so I grabbed sleep until 0830. I’m fixing to get sheveled to take out trash and go Krogering (need fruit and yogurt). Those are the biggest plans for the day.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Oh the jokes and puns that could be made… I’m going to pre-emptively put myself in time out.

Thank you, you are correct and I do need to reframe how I’m thinking of it. I just hope he fixes his fence and I never hear about it if something goes wrong.

Also, that performer looks like he would be very entertaining to see live.

boofae I am jealous that Belgium is a weekend get-away!

FCM Glad to hear the fog cleared up enough you could actually see the scenary.

Thank you! Dang, I can’t believe I’ve been hanging around this place for 23 years!

A surprise (well, to me at least) thunderstorm came through yesterday afternoon and it was quite the frog-strangler. Areas near me got 4-6 inches of rain so flash flooding was a big issue, but fortunately I made it home just before it moved in. It cooled things off so I got to enjoy it with the back windows open.
