(Old) A high seas MMP

Sorry. Czarcasm is experiencing quite the run-around trying to get his birth certificate from Guam.

My amended birth certificate should get to me sometime soon. With luck, the only difference across my IDs at that point will be the two middle names (sometimes both appear on documents or IDs, sometimes the second one, and once in a while the first one).

Cookie, wishing your wife the best.

I’ve just noticed my misspelling. :frowning:

We see it too.

It would’ve been funnier if you’d said, ‘We sea it too.’

Spent a lot of time at the gym and went direct from there to Wendy’s to assuage my hunger with a burger and fries, which it did (with a banana, pretzels, cheeseballs, and crackers added). Inside now and somebody just fired off about 1/2 dozen fireworks, hopefully that’s the last of them (nope, hearing more booms). Still 82F outside at 8:30pm, so no cooling trend yet.

Interesting letter in the mail. From the Nielsen company, they want me to be a rater! And to encourage me they enclosed a $10 bill. Letter and money both look legit, so I guess I’ll listen to their spiel, but since I watch less than an hour of TV on most days, doubt they will get their money’s worth.

Entering into the scroll-verse…

Hippie, BBBoo, wish I was close enough to join/host you.

VanGo, that’s quite a drop, keep an eye on the weather.

shoe, will be awaiting the results of the Monkey/Tiger Mask experiment.

flyboy, best of luck getting sister activated. And we all saw the see as sea, so…

JtC, that sounds like a tragic story on the Virginia cousins that does not have any happy endings. Hope you (and shoe) can help.

And just looked at the clock and it is approaching 9pm, so this will be my late-night final. Catch y’all tomorrow.

Oh. I thought you’d gone to ask the pope to help your sister.

I joined the Navy to see the world! But what did I see? I saw the sea!

[Sadly, injuries kept me out.]

Up from naptime, having an Old Fashioned. Part is on order for the stove, so it’s flattop grill burgers and fried potato wedges for dinner tonight. Which were a tad smoky, but I think I leaned a few things to make 'em better next time.
I need to get a copy of my birth certificate, so I can get the RealID thing.

“Do not. I know where you live” - Spot

Flyboy: “Your Holiness, I need assistance.”
Pope Leo: “I’ll send you nun.”

I got one of those a couple years ago. Seemed legit. I filled out a form saying what I watched and they sent me another $10. I don’t watch anything when it is actually on broadcast, so I don’t know how much my input helped.

My Uncle Charles began wearing a beard in the mid-sixties. When he shaved it off before getting married the second time, one of his adult daughters (herself with four children) was shocked. She had no memory of her dad without facial hair.

I hope that you find something appropriate. Hugs to all of you.

FCD has had facial hair of some sort for most of the last 42 years… except for one job that only permitted mustaches because of the mask he had to wear. Luckily, it was a very short-term job, because I couldn’t get used to his nekkid face. It’s just wrong. After he quit, he shaved the 'stache and started over. I bed the grands would freak out if he shaved.

I woke stoopit early which became stoopit earlier due to yet another time change. So now we’re 4 hours ahead of Eastern. I got my phone and my tablet changed and that should be good for a few days. I think we’re still North of the Arctic Circle.

There’s a lecture on battleships today that FCD wants to attend. I plan to do another mile around the deck at some point. Other than that, no real plans. Just another sea day, see?

Happy Tuesday!

I was too! Too bad the medical procedure drug on and meant the bagel shop closed up for the day and tossed us out into the toaster oven of the day way before I’d had nearly enough of hippie and his lovely bride. I scheduled the next procedure for earlier in the surgeon’s morning so that won’t happen next time. In October we’ll get there before they sell out of fresh bialy.

I has a warm sesame bagel with lox spread and took home as many poppy seed bagels as would fit in my totally inadequate freezer to dole out as needed to sustain my will to live.

The whole time I keep thinking: “damn, I could been friends with them IRL starting in 1970 when I first moved to Omaha, instead I wasted 50 years waiting to discover them on da Dope”. My plan is to just make hay and relish the hell out of hippie and his better half while the sun shines until those bleak, wasted decades fade away.

And his ‘new’ snakeskin cowboy boots are mighty fine. High heels don’t have anything on a boy butt in blue jeans walking away in cowboy boots, jus’ saying.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. I have another isopod incursion, along with centipedes and an earwig(The Isopod Incursion sounds like a Doctor Who episode from the Third Doctor era. but being classic doctor Who, the Isopods would be played by guys wearing brown sleeping bags, with feelers made of brown pool noodles, and eyes made from halved disco balls).

He’d enjoy this channel

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 15c/60f with a predicted high of 20c/67f and partly cloudy. Weather app says “It’s somewhere between fucking warm and fucking cold. I don’t know what to tell you. Dress in fucking layers?” I am not cold, therefore layers are unnecessary for me today.

Not really, she is still spending her time mostly in the bookcase, occasionally she comes out and sits in another rather inaccessible corner  I have seen her laying under the table in the room where she lives so we know she’s ventured across the floor but as far as we can tell, she hasn’t yet ventured outside the room even though the door is open. She’s a bit less growly and hissy, we manage the smallest amounts of fuss before she remembers that she hates us

That’s definitely better than the “eek, it’s serious, we need to do X, Y and Z right now” situation. Fingers crossed for a good result for her.

nellie I’m glad to hear that your back pain is easing a bit, it’s amazing what the right meds can do!

Yes, we can get air from the compressor at the petrol station, if I want someone to do it for me then I would have to take 'im indoors and show him what to do! I used to have a small pressure gauge and a footpump but I have no idea what happened to them, they probably got lost in a house move. The pressure warning light comes on usually when the front tyres drop a bit and get closer to the pressure of the back tyres

Busy day already today - I have been up and out to post a birthday card to ‘im indoors’ mum, hauled the biiiiiig bin back in after it was emptied before 7am today. Showered and cleaned up, fed the cats and cleaned litter trays, then took 'im indoors to the station for his train. I got home just in time for a cuppa and a bacon butty before my first meeting of the day.

I need to make food for two days on campus, and I need to make a lunchtime run to the pet store for more cat litter and some food for Muffin since she only eats something that the specific pet store supplies, and they don’t deliver it either so I have to go and get it. And sort out the car’s tyres. There’s laundry to do too, after the weekend away and before we go away again on Friday.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 73 Amurrkin out and mostly clear with a predicted high of 91 and rain/tstorms/apocalypse predicted mid-afternoon. We shall see. It’s laundry day. I am all atwitter with glee. Outside of that, today will be filled with RDOS inactivities. Sup shall be leftover chikin enchiladas, refried beans and rice. Fartfest part deux to follow.

I have worn a beard for the past forty years. OYKW has never seen my nekkid face. Nobody where I live now has ever seen my nekkid face. Were I to shave it off, I imagine I would get many GG like reactions from folks.

BBBOO I agree about a butt walkin’ away in jeans and cowboy boots.

Cookie hope wife gets practical answers to her ailments soonest.

MetalMouse and VanGo since I pretty much don’t watch network programmin’ anymore, I would be useless to Nielson. However I would take the ten bucks and go get stoner food.

Flyboy hope sis figures out how to get her birth certificate soonest. One would think that the promise of money should be enough to motivate.

JtC so sorry about hub’s cousin. Hope you have luck figurin’ out what edibles to buy.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day!

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

Howdy all.

I am currently sitting with a poodle on my lap. Shocking, I know! Today I’ll be heading back to Costco for my follow up appointment on my hearing aids. Hopefully this time I’ll remember to use my gift card that I’ve forgotten to use twice now!

Other plans include buying a new vice because I can’t figure out where my old one went to. I’m going to do some research and see if I can get the best price somewhere in Canton while I’m there. The vice is necessary for bending forks and such. I’ve basically decided that I’m over spoon rings for awhile. When they start to frustrate me, I will quit for now. I’ve packaged the blanks and they’ll still be there when I’m ready to work with them again.

Now on to other things…

I plead late night sleepy sobriety challenges.

I’ve received several of those letters and thrown them away unopened. The latest just a couple days ago. Maybe time to update my junk mail handling procedure for those.

I’ve watched about 3 hours of TV since I moved in 14 months ago. They really won’t get any data from me.

While I wasn’t airlining I generally had a big bushy beard. While I was, I was clean-shaven. At one of those transitions my wife commented “I wish you could keep the beard; it hid so much more of your face.” She was kidding … I think.

I’ve now got a very white very trim Ernest Hemingway look that seems to sell well to the ladies. So it’s probably gonna be here for a few more years at least.

Can’t say it better. JtC: good luck to all. Life has a lot more “house of cards” aspect to it than we’d like.

@Sticks_and_Scones: Good luck w hearing aids.

I hate it when I forget coupons or gift cards, but it seems to happen more often than not. My other fave is getting a coupon good for a week starting 7 days from now. The odds on me needing something from that store again in that window are just about zero. CVS I’m :face_with_symbols_on_mouth: about you.

Not much exciting here. Breakfast with my former roomie later this morning and RDOSing away the rest of the day.

I’m trying to come up with a snarky vice/vise comment but nothing clever come to mind. Oh well…

We went to deck 3 in search of AA batteries for my camera (it’s not rechargeable!!) and I got a tube of chapstick in one of the shops - $4.99!!! But I really needed it. No batteries tho. Dammit.

FCD is snoozing before we head to the theater for a couple of lectures. So I’m surfing a bit. What I need to do is compose a critique of the ship’s app. It suxxxx! Just a few minutes ago I got a message reminding me of an excursion we took two days ago!! Plus it disconnects randomly and is a pain to reconnect. And the ship’s weather has been stuck at 10°C/51°F for 3 days - it’s definitely not that warm today. And for an app called Navigator, it’s a pain to navigate.

OK, I think I need to chill with some Sudoku.

Being British today, are you? (“vice”)

Morning all. Slept pretty well and feeling good, just awaiting the prescribed time from taking my Thyroid pill to get my Big Bowl O’Cereal and an apple to break my fast. Another hot day (76F at 7:45am heading to 92F, with a 1-in-4 chance of rain) so sloth will probably be my major occupation.

I saw the Atlantic and the Pacific, but the Pacific wasn’t terrific;
And the Atlantic isn’t what it’s cracked up to be.

(amazing, isn’t it, the odd things that get stuck in the neurons of our brain…)

My enclosed letter said they will be calling me in the next few days. We’ll see.

On the beard discussion, I have worn one off and on for the last 30+ years, usually it’s the kids soccer teams I coach who get to shave it off, but the last year has been mostly 5-9 year olds and I am a little leery of letting them have at it with an electric razor, so it has grown rather long. Do need to trim it and I bought a beard brush (already had a comb) that I immediately fell in love with.

So I think I know what Grade you would give this cruise…

doggio, isopod incursion is a great term and I need to remember to use it when (in)appropriate. And I’ve been on the New Jersey and Wisconsin and seen the Iowa, so only the only one left to see in that WWII class is the Missouri out in Pearl Harbor.

boo fae, slow but steady with Muffin. She may never do more than that, remember FCM’s cat who pretty much lived under the bed, but good on ya for trying. Happy errand day.

Sticky Buns, there are worse ways to go through life than with a poodle on your lap (my niece’s dearly departed English Mastiff thought he was a lap dog… :scream:). And concur with your decision to put something away until you’re ready to do it again.

And guess what, it’s time for breakfast! Take care all.
