(Old) A high seas MMP

The California Controller’s Office said my sister could send a picture of her expired license, or just the number. I found out she actually has an email address, which was on her claim form; so I asked for the image. She sent three (basically the same). I chose the one that looked the best to me, and sent it to the Controller’s office. Fingers crossed.

Got a call from the Nielsen folks, they are sending me stuff due on Monday. Apparently you wears some type of device that wirelessly sends info on what you are watching/listening too to them, we’ll see how it works out, may get the ratings for watching soccer games to improve…

Soup and Sammiches have been ingested and about 80% of my vacation photos have been viewed/edited, so need to get attired for gym time soon.

boo fae, glad the fix was in and the student got graduated. Enjoy your reward.

FCM, somehow I figured you’d be looking at boats…

red, folks up north where I lived for my first 45 years claim they can detect a Southern accent in me…since I never listen to myself i can’t say for sure…

So today was a tad better. Slightly less humid, and I was loading 100 Bottom Red, so I could feel a fan. Plus the drivers appreciate a CDO loader. Looks like there was a bunch of LiB stuff again, but that’s what happens when you cut payroll.

Did you accidentally revers the polarity? But sounds like a new stove is a good idea. I’m still waiting on a part for mine.

That’s because when they filmed Vikings, they just moved the sets over.

Nobody falling over is a good reason to celebrate.

Down here everybody thinks I’m Canadian. Weird,eh?

Back from the morning medical visits. Eye doing well dilation finally wore off. I went with the salted caramel banana French toast. It was good.

Back to eye doctor in august.

Work tomorrow. Le sigh.

Well, BIIIIIIG changes today. Our ship is only allowed to sail where there is 10% or less ice coverage. Unfortunately, all 4 of our Greenland stops have more ice than that. So our schedule has been changed rather radically.

Our stay in Isafjordur on Firday has been extended by 3 hours, so more time to wander around there. Then we have 3 days at sea, so 3 days for people to be tripping all over each other.

On Tuesday, July 15, we’ll be in Paamiut, Greenland, then the next day, we’ll stop in Qaqartoq, Greenland. Both are small towns and well south of the Arctic Circle, so we won’t get to cross it again.

That’s followed by 2 more days at sea, then a stop at Grundarfjordur, Iceland on Sat, July 19. The next day, we go to Reykjavik for an overnight stay, and we’ll be back on our original schedule for Faroe and Shetland. I’m bummed by the changes in the Greenland stops as well as the extra at-sea days. But that’s the way it goes.

Tonight, we decided instead of going to dinner in the buffet, we’d get deli sammiches - one corned beef and one pastrami. Both were pretty meh. They were made on almost-burned wheat toast (Not rye!!!) Very disappointing. We should have gotten the pizza.

We’re now on our way to Akureyri, arriving tonight. FCD and I have an excursion at 8AM, so we need to get up at 6 to get some breakfast before getting to the bus. Hope we can sleep tonight.

Oh yeah - we soaked in the hot tub while watching some of the men’s quarterfinals at Wimbledon. Rough life… But now it’s time to chill. Thus endeth our day.

Last week I mentioned my cat Atilla was feeling poorly and how hew would have some special testing at the vet. I have the results. He has a heart murmur. What will be r equired will be a daily pitl and I’m working on how to mix it into his food. I know I couldn’t get a daily pill in him by mouth. The vet said if he keeps crying after a couple of weeks to let the office know. The pill is supposed to help the heart wall and his blood pressure.

I thought about that and then thought that it would seem rather condescending so I have started treating everyone like Hubs. I open my mouth and say a few words of greeting and then wait for them to mentally shift gears and focus on me before proceeding. So far, that seems to be working, but its only been a day.

I’m fairly sure he meant I look like reg’lar foks, nothing bad or mean. Jeffery is the epitome of a gentleman in every sense of the word.

A sign of a good repair person is someone just like that!

Which is quite the plus!

I’m feeling kinda old now. I dated a pump jockey when I was in high school cause self-serve wasn’t really a thing yet.

It’s such a shame that your irresponsible neighbor took that away, I know you enjoyed it.

Agreed! Cheers! :clinking_beer_mugs:

How is the vision? Are you happy? I really do hope that you are at least as happy as I am with mine, being able to see clearly is world changing!

I’m so sorry. Did they say why there is so much more ice than usual, or is “climate change, ice bergs melting” not a thing on cruise ships?

Poor both of you. Have you tried him with pill pockets? They fooled one of our cats for his entire life. The others? Not so much.

So this morning started out great! We feasted on cherry tomato! I picked our first ripe cherry tomato and cut it in half, then made a nice bed of kale in one of my one inch bowls and served it to hubs with salt as tradition requires. I ate my half unsalted.

Now that they have started, they will continue until the end of summer. The slicing tomatoes will be starting in a couple of weeks. I didn’t do Romas this year, but this is just my starter garden. It will expand.

We had a very nice rain, almost an inch and now the birds are back flittering around. I’ve been watching a pair of Cardinals come from the forest to eat the birdseed I put out, they raised up a fine young male and seem to have kicked him out of the nest. He used to come with them but now he comes from a different direction and at different times.

The pair are actually acting like they did when they were nesting back in the spring so I’m hoping to get to see them raising up another clutch. Hopefully more will hatch this time.

Cousin seems to have improved this morning and her blood work is coming back better. She is still heavily sedated and will be having an MRI this afternoon. Gina reports that she really REALLY likes micro-dosing. I guess I should probably check it out some day.

How big is the pill? I’ve had luck with using these https://www.chewy.com/inaba-churu-bites-chicken-recipe/dp/262439?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=187961379&utm_content=70057246756&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=187961379&gbraid=0AAAAADmQ2V1s_jUL7FJJPiXdWaxpMIeEs&gclid=CjwKCAjwprjDBhBTEiwA1m1d0ga_dEbiAu85QWWmFltyUaCzv7SiJRU3H5rBsskkgS5rGL9SBfPIexoCmDoQAvD_BwE . Slide the pill in and refill the hole with the goo that leaked out.

Jtc, I am very happy with how I’m seeing now. Still surreal.

The pill is very tiny.

red, folks up north where I lived for my first 45 years claim they can detect a Southern accent in me…since I never listen to myself i can’t say for sure…

metal mouse, I’ve detected no southern accent when we’ve spoken.

Is anyone else having issues with the quote feature?

(Now, the quote feature is working. Didn’t they break a bunch of northern, rye country rules there?

I hope that you don’t have any issues with pilling him. Cats are so much harder than dogs.

I went to the grocery store to pick up a couple of things and swung through the pharmacy on the way home. I didn’t look at my notification and the 'scrips were filled at the other CVS (the one with no drive thru). I had them transfer the order and I’ll pick them up tomorrow.

I fixed a version of chicken veggie soup that involved drawing on pantry and freezer items. I gave it a bit of an Italian flair and it turned out pretty good.

Howdy Y’all! The rain let up, so we went to the Pubic sto’. We got some shrimpies, so we ended up havin’ shrimpies’n grits, roasted spare guts, and garlic breadsticks for sup. We had not had that in a good while, so ‘twas particularly nummy. The rain has been off and on today. Tomorrow looks to be the same.

CupCakes hope you figure out how to pill Attila and hope the pills help the poor fella.

Afternoon all. Did my exercising and shopped at Staples and am now home and resting from my labors. Have edited about 80% of my photos so might put some of them up on the Book of Faces tonight or tomorrow. Got some rain which cooled us down to 80F and looks like more rain coming shortly.

Those are words I am not used to seeing together. Glad they added up to something tasty.

FCM, yeah, no Titanic episodes for cruise lines these days. Does sound like a time to catch up on your reading…

Cupcakes, hugs for you and scritches for Atilla.

JtC, yay! on the tomato crop.

And time for Cheeburger! Take care all.

We managed to un-ass today for a road trip with eight other residents who are not yet drooling into their soup. Went to a decent restaurant, where I had a pretty good plate of huevos rancheros. We both were wiped out by the time we got back; I don’t think we’re drinking enough water.

Tried the gazpacho I made yesterday and I have to say it came out pretty dang good. The directions say to puree everything in a blender and then strain it through a sieve, but I gotta say that this Jamba blender turned to the “smoothie” setting negates the need for straining. Tomorrow I’m doing the baklava.

I have done baklava by myself twice. Both times I’ve sworn that I’ll never do it again. Now you are making me think that maybe I should do it again.

So, I’ve been watching the fires in No. Cal - pretty horrible and got to thinking about @Seanette. Has anyone heard from her or @Bob_Blaylock recently?

I got the message that only the “grrr, see what a fierce left-wing fighter I am” types are welcome in what used to be a refuge from such crap.

I am sorry you feel that way. I hope you aren’t being bothered by the fires. I won’t bother you again.

Thanks to everyone for their good wishes. I love that cat and I love this board.

Up from naptime. Having a martini, salad, and chicken with cavatappi for dinner. Big thunderstorm coming through right now.

Not pushing ahead through the ice is a Titanic mistake.

I have found that the smaller the pill the smaller the thing you hide it in. The furry ones are really good at eating around pills. I would have to give lager a very wee quarter of a pill. I would cut the churu bite in half for that pill.

Is the USS Alabama still open? i was 9 when I walked and toured 90 percent with my Korean War vet step-grandpa acting as tour guide… There was a sub there too, but we were too little to go into that

The black cat im holding in my fb pic that my aunt and I hand-raised from 3 days old hated when I did my once-a-month or so shave and hair trim …oh, and she hated my glasses so much that she managed to take them out back and made sure the dogs found them.

Oh, and accents … my speech teacher in grade school was an East End London girl (we used to tease the hell out of her with a certain pet shop boys song lol ) .her boyfriend who came over with her was a riot … imagine a smarter vyvan from the young ones …my family blames him for my punk rock attitude on politics and religion & most thngs …people say when im not paying attention or watching sports on TV I can sound like a 2nd gen British American
