(Old) A high seas MMP

I know the feeling! I had forgotten how things looked before my lenses started clouding, it happened so slowly. I am looking forward to my new glasses because it is such a bother to keep track of sunglasses and reading glasses, but I’m also happy to know that I won’t need to wear them unless I feel the desire or need.

I did not know about the churu bites, thank you. How do they work with liquids or do you know?

Thank you! It was the most expensive cherry tomato I’ve ever eaten.

I am so glad the Mrs felt well enough to go out. Does that mean that her new meds are working or just that she’s bored to tears and willing to risk the dizzies just to see different things?

So it is raining. We’ve gotten just over an inch so far and I have been worried about my lemon tree. They don’t like wet feet and I just put it in a bigger grow bag so I went out and wrapped a towel around the base to soak up the water.

There is much thunder and lightning happening so the fuzzbutts aren’t hanging out with Hubs and are in with me instead. I think they just like watching the lightning and my curtains are the only ones still opened.

It feels very cozy

ETA:

Laughing so much about your cat! Smart kitty

i found them buried after a rain storm 3 months later

And it’s nearly 10pm here, have finished viewing and editing out all the superfluous photos and will try to spam Facebook starting tomorrow. Also have compared the current Hybrid SUV’s on the market and identified 2-3 I want to test drive. And that is enough for this night. Onto the final scrolling…

shady, I visited the USS Alabama in Mobile last year and it was open for tours, (and the sub is still there) and a pretty nice museum.

And that’s all I got. Catch y’all tomorrow.

Up caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave, and watch TPTB cut people, watch 6 package cars go unloaded, and contemplate a more sustainable and enjoyable career like “crack whore”.
Spot got riled up earlier, and we were kung fu fighting, but now he’s lying by front door because I Five Finger Death Punched him.

I need to visit Alabama or Massachusetts. I’ve been to the North Carolina and Iowa, but I’m treating the Alabamas like Jan Brady.

Morning, mumpers! It’s currently 19c/67f with a predicted high of 27c/81f and mostly cloudy. Weather app says “Are you tired of talking about the fucking weather yet? I’d be happy to tell you all about my fucking weird rash.” No, thanks, I think I can live without that.

I’d be a bit wobbly by the end then, there were quite a few of them! It was nice to watch them all go and shake hands with the Chancellor though, and mentally wave them off.

I had to do that for Ophelia, she was on a daily pill for her heart murmur but she was very placid and it was easy enough to get her to take it. Getting it into her mouth was easy, making sure it went down her throat was another matter!

It’s surprising how quickly you notice the effects of that, I have also been trying to drink more water. Of course, last night mine had hops and barley in it…

Seanette good to see you, glad you are safe!

Yesterday’s commute home was hot but reasonably trouble-free and the house was not boiling hot when I got back as I’d left the windows closed and all the curtains closed, so I opened it up for some fresh air, put laundry away and ironed a few t-shirts that I want for this weekend. I had a sandwich for dinner and then went to the pub with my friends.

A very pleasant evening was had by all, we sat outside and had a few beers. I got home late, gave the cats their treats and then went to bed. Not enough sleep so today I’m tired, and I have a pointless 3hr training thing to go to today. I’m bunking off the last half hour as it clashes with a meeting with my manager that I would prefer to be at…and I’ve got a minion meeting this afternoon so very little actual work will be done.

I’m glad that there is a pill available that can help.

Hooray?

Yesterday I mostly worked on silverware stuff. Today I will be awaiting a call from my new supervisor. I’m definitely excited about that so that I can get more info on my new job.

Otherwise, it’s my mom’s birthday and so I’ll be randomly and intermittently singing happy birthday to her as she moves about the house. I’m not sure what the dinner plans will be but if I were her, I’d pick Texas Roadhouse.

In other news, I will be calling my dentist when they open as the right side of my mouth has suddenly become extremely sensitive to cold and very painful. I hope they can get me in today because I think that they’re closed on Fridays.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 75 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 89 and cloudy with rain this afternoon. We shall be bears who brunch this mornin’ at Eggs Up. Then we will ramble up to Cordele, GA and visit the big farmers market located there. Who knows what we will bring home! I guess technically a ramble does not have a specific destination, but we will take back roads there, so it’s kind of a ramble. The rest of the day will be spent in RDOS inactivities as is our wont.

Sticky_Buns hope you can see the dentist today. Happy birthday to your mom!

Shades your cat story gave me an early mornin’ giggle.

Now I need more caffeine. Then purtification must commence as we shall be amongst the great unwashed.

Happy Thursday Y’all!

Hooray! Dentist will see me at 2:30.

Morning all. The Bladder alarm went off about 6:15am today so I am up and eating a bowl of Cheerios with an apple to break my fast. Quiet day planned, may visit the Kia dealer to look at the Sorento Hybrid SUV and get some photos up on Facebook, but nothing much else in the plans. 74F now heading to 87F, so we won’t break 90F today for once. But a 50-50 chance for rain, so we’ll see.

Sticky Buns, best wishes for the dentist. I have my semi-annual cleaning and checkup due on the 24th, so hopefully no problems here. And happy Mom-Birthday.

swampy, going down varied roads to get somewhere qualifies as a ramble to me.

boo fae, enjoy the meetings (who am I kidding, just survive them…)

doggio, been to the battleships USS Alabama, North Carolina, Wisconson and New Jersey and the carriers Lexington, Yorktown and Intrepid, so I have the makings of a pretty good WWII task force.

And Cheerios are nearly consumed and the apple is ready for munching, so have a good day all.

Mornin’ all.

It’s 60°F and cloudy. The day will be mostly cloudy with a daytime high of around 76°F. I remained pretty dang comfortable yesterday, and I didn’t mind the clouds a bit. I watered and fed all my plants.

I’ve got a hankering for a road trip, but I’m waiting to see when we’re on the schedule for the new roof, so I can’t take off yet.

Sticky, I hope all goes well with supervisor contact and the dentist.

After posting yesterday about how much I miss the bushtits, a whole flock of them swung by and hung out around the bird baths, and my flowers and Japanese maple yesterday. I was so pleased to see them. They brought a smile to my face.

I haven’t decided what I’ll do today. I’ve been toying with the idea of creating a new flower bed, but I don’t have enough plants to fill it right now, and, it’s kind of late to sow seeds.

Good luck the with new vehicle hunt, Metal Mouse.

jtc, for liquids i use either a teaspoon of pate wet food or squeeze out a tube of churu on a condiment dish.

nightshadea, great story!

koritza loves to carry things around, first it was watches, then glasses. i would have to put my glasses in a drawer at night.

for quite some time i couldn’t find my blue glasses. luckily i had 2 pairs that year and was able to wear the other pair until one night koritza comes into the living area singing, with the blue pair in her mouth. i have no idea where she found them.

koritza is the reason i always have to poke through the roomba’s waste collector.

You can ramble on the way to your destination. I hope that you find some good produce at the farmer’s market.

It’s good to see you, seanette. Please come back when you feel comfortable to do so.

Happy birthday stickyMom!

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP. Today’s agenda includes dropping some cards in the mail and picking up prescriptions. I also need to re-reschedule Nelson’s annual physical. We may even go to the dog park.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

I slept thru our arrival in Akureyri last night, then woke 5 minutes before the alarm. We had to have an early breakfast because our tour group met at 8. We shared our breakfast table with a man who used to work in Africa on programs for HIV and malaria prevention and mitigation. He said the administrations gutting/defending of USAID will have broader effects than anyone realizes.

Data from the programs like his in Africa is fed back to universities that study and track transmission and spread of diseases, ultimately figuring out how to prevent them on a world-wide scale. So while a narrow-minded view thinks them furriners should deal with their own problems, ignoring them will eventually cause problems everywhere, including in 'murrica. Scary stuff.

Anyway, after that uplifting conversation, we headed to get out bus for the excursion. Unfortunately, we didn’t have nearly enough time at any of the stops. 30 minutes for the botanical garden? 40 minutes to walk to Gosafoss waterfall, look around, then walk back (especially when many passengers were using canes.) Then too many people trying to tour a turf house built circa 1000 - we saw maybe half of it before we had to get back to the bus. They should have either added time to the trip or removed one stop.

However, once again, the weather was in our favor and rain held off till we got back to the ship. FCD decided to nap after lunch and I planted myself on a big lounge overlooking the pool deck. Chillage till we decide to do something else.

Happy Thursday!

ETA - JtC I’m not sure exactly what led to the change in port calls. The Captain has a fairly thick accent and the speakers where we sat were not that great. But I think it’s a corporate safety policy. Whatever - we still get to go to Greenland.

There was a seminar the other day where they suggested 9-12 cups of water a day for seniors because of dehydration issues at our age. I’m pretty sure that I can’t drink three quarts of water in a day and still get any sleep. They suggested using a bottle with a straw which I guess makes it easier to manage or something.

I went down for exercise yesterday. The instructor wasn’t there, but they always have video backup. I ran out of ambition about halfway through and thought I’d go check our tomato plant on the communal terrace.

As I approached the door I saw someone walking across my field of view. I stepped out the door to see that one of our residents had taken a fall and this guy was unsuccessfully trying to help him. I went over and first asked him if he’d hit his head or thought anything was broken. He had the water hose wrapped around one leg and was bleeding from a big scrape on his arm. Now, there is no way that I can lift someone at my age, so I got him untangled from the hose and helped him roll onto his front and get his knees under him. He was then able to leverage himself up onto one of the metal chairs. I rinsed off his arm and stayed with him and talked to him to make sure he really hadn’t banged his head and we joked a bit about falling. The other guy must have gone to notify the resident nurse, as she eventually showed up. I told her what I knew and left. Sheesh. Fortuitous that I bailed on exercise I guess.

We had tickets for an orchestral concert today, but luckily for me the wife ran out of ambition so we’re not going.

You didn’t ask for reccos, but my niece’s husband, who loves to cook, really loves the induction cooktop on his new stove. I have no experience with them, but would likely consider it if I was in the market.

after 2 days of sugar high meals, i had salmon teriyaki today. i’m sure watching walker eat salmon, after salmon, after salmon. after salmon, had nothing to do with the decision.

Pssst… Teriyaki is high in sugar.

Mrs. L.A. brought home salmon and tuna sashimi from Haggen’s supermarket’s deli. Very good. I usually prefer tuna to the salmon, but the salmon last night was especially tender. (And I bought three pairs of salmon pinwheels from Trader Joe’s yesterday. Always gotta have at least one in the freezer.)

When I last posted, I thought I’d be gone 5 minutes. Hah. I got phone calls which led to me making phone calls, and by the time things settled down, it was hours later, and I had a headache. All’s well, though. It was just a series of hassles.

Today is housework day. I actually like cleaning house. I find it satisfying. I miss my childhood, though, where Mom would assign each of us a room to clean (besides our own), so while I was scouring the bathroom sink, one sister was dusting the living room, another polishing in the dining room, and Mom was deep-cleaning the kitchen. (Whether our brother helped depended on what other chores he had.) It was nice to be working together. OK, who wants to clean the kitchen this week?

I’ve figured out why little Max suddenly stops and refuses to go further on walks. It’s not because he’s tired. It’s because he’s remembered that there’s a toy basket at my place. He has a huge basket of toys in his own home, but the grass is always greener.

This made me smile. My sister has lived in Louisiana for 40 years. I tease her that one by one, she’s losing her consonants: help has become he’p, for instance. Still, people down there who don’t know her say, “Are you from New York?” (Nope. Chicago.) I guess she hasn’t lost enough consonants yet.

I would forget to look at my hand. D’oh!

My kids complain I don’t talk enough about my health. My daughter says they won’t know when to worry if I don’t tell them anything, so they worry all the time. I get it from my mother. I’m making an effort to keep them informed, but it’s hard.

That speaks volumes. {{{{{shoe}}}}}

Are you sure the ship isn’t just traveling in circles? “And now…Sweden!” (“It looks like Norway.”) And now…Finland! (“It looks just like Nor–is that a guy in a reindeer costume?”)

Thank you to you, pilot, and everyone who’s said kind words to me. I really do appreciate them. For me, the trick for longer hikes is to mentally divide them into parts, so I can say, “I’m two-fifths of the way there!” Come to think of it, this is the same technique I used when my daughter was a baby: “One a.m.? Yay! I get two more naps before I have to get ready to go to work!” The difference is that babies are cuter, but then, longer hikes are better for my figure.

I have GOT to learn to shut up. I’m still not caught up, and look how long this is!

Afternoon all. Got all the photos I plan to post up on Facebook, if you don’t know who//where I am there PM me and I’ll give you the info. Don’t claim to be the world’s best photographer, but think I got a few worth viewing…

In-between went to look at a Kia Sorento, the guy who came out to help tried to get me downsized to a Sportage (guess I didn’t look like money) but stuck to my guns and gave it a good look. Also arranged to get my Dodge deep-cleaned so that when it comes to trade-in time I am not overly embarrassed. Need to get on my way to the gym here in a bit as the chance of rain has decreased to 1-in-3.

Taters, happy you got tits visiting the bird baths. And remind me, I have some Lego pictures from my trip I need to find a way to get to you.

rocky, I do not need a pet’s help to mislay things, i can do it all by myself.

FCM, yeah, ship tours tend to be ‘everyone on, everyone off and this is your time limit.’ But for places this out of the way, it’s often the only game in town.

Cookie, good on ya for helping out, hope the guy is OK.

nellie, if you like cleaning house so much, I have a… And I try that on the treadmill, “hey, 17 minutes done only 13 more to go”. Works most of the time…

And never shut up, never, never never. We enjoy your ramblings.

OK, off to gym time (might also start the dishwasher while I’m gone). Good afternoon all.

Well, he was lucid and responsive. He did complain about pain in his ribs, but I haven’t seen him since yesterday.

flyboy dunno about other teriyaki recipes, but mine is soy sauce, wine vinegar, garlic, and ginger. Essentially no sugar.
