(Old) A spot of good news in the MMP

We want good news of Spot in the MMP :slightly_frowning_face:

I did some gardening instead of clothes shopping. I’ll go tomorrow, as I’ll be going to the pub in the evening and that way I only need one bus ticket pass.

Set up an in-condo coffee shop (like the grown-up version of a kid’s lemonade stand) and tell 'em they’re hand-imported beans from Brazil.

Hey, it’s a gig economy.

Need more caffeine?

Oh, that’s gonna be so much fun so see, as the colors unfold!

You’re both in my thoughts.

Spot get home! Sending guiding thoughts.

It is rather discouraging that I spent so much time prepping and screening and planting, only to have a rather sad looking flower bed. But hope springs eternal.

I certainly hope so. Some of the colors labeled were lavender, white, yellow, peach, purple, “old” purple (whatever that is), brown, and probably others I’ve forgotten. In a few weeks, I’ll cut back the remaining fans and let nature do the rest.

We went to Salsa’s for lunch, so we won’t be wanting much of a supper. FCD is about to take a snooze and I’m about to head to the basement to play in clay. Tho a snooze sounds good. But first, some clay.

If you’re so inclined, nasturtium seeds sprout really quickly, and have cute lily-pad leaves in addition to pretty flowers.

The seeds are big & easy to handle, so planting them is a popular gardening project for kids, hint, hint.

Just don’t let Otis (or the local squirrels) dig up your hard work!

{{{{Doggio and Spot}}}}

We had three trash companies here, but the owners of the one we signed up for retired a while back so we had to switch to the one we use now – probably because it was the cheaper of the two remaining companies. Don’t know how much we pay. This town is the first place I’ve lived since I started having to worry about things like that where the city didn’t do it.

Otis isn’t a problem - this bed is out front and he’s confined to the back. Squirrels, on the other hand…

I just had a little clay time, but I really couldn’t get into it. I’m thinking I’ll have a little recliner time before emptying the dishwasher.

Pepper flakes (either red, or black .. or both ..) tend to convince mammals with sensitive noses to dig elsewhere.

Must be re-applied after a heavy rain, but it’s a cheap’n’easy deterrent.

I have been rather productive lo these coupla days off - not to FCM level, but my bar is set pretty low - and so, off to work I go.

Asshole cat. Can you get you hands on a live trap? Maybe ask the rescue group that Spot came from?

I really hope he comes back soon.

When we got here, Hubs bought a trailer to haul our trash to the dump. He also signed up for weekly pick-up because he wasn’t going to be here for a month and knew that I would not deal with hauling trash. Well, its been three years and we are still paying an independent company to haul our trash away. I know that the county also offers trash pick-up, but we are happy with the service we are getting and the cost is the same.

So not much happening here today. Hubs went out for a ride, George whined and I stitched and looked at the multi-colored forest across the street. I think we should go back to Beckley in a few days, I just love this time of year.

hoping for good news on spot.

i still think of your darcy.

I’ve done very little so far today despite having a bunch to do. The #1 task is cramming for the final, i.e., reading the information booklet that helps you decide whom to vote for, but the landscapers are here performing a 21 leaf-blowers Ode to Cochlea Extravaganza. For some reason, I need a cathedral hush when voting. I shall then walk over to the nearest ballot box. I always sing “America the Beautiful” in honor of my parents. It was one of Mom’s favorite songs. I couldn’t carry a tune in a tank, but my parents didn’t believe that the inability to carry a tune should stop anyone.

I also need to stop at the UPS place for an Amazon return.

Oh, and all my outdoor plants need to come in, as it’s getting dangerously close to frost weather. My fuchsia must stay outside, as they’re in a window box on the balcony, but they’re tough. They’re supposed to be annuals, so they’ve already lasted a whole lot longer than their life expectancy.

Doggio, the missing treats are promising. I am WILLING Spot to return.

shoe, I’m guessing Yorkshire doesn’t produce big cannabis crops. Probably too busy producing terriers and pudding.

mollie, did I miss a photo of your gorgeous self?

When she was a teen, my daughter posted on social media that she’d never had Twinkies or Cap’n Crunch, and there was such a wave of sympathy and outrage, I had to get on there to say, “But she got Lucky Charms (once)!” Someone bought her a pack of Twinkies, and she didn’t like them. I bought her a giant box of Cap’n Crunch.

I am heading for the finish on my latest quilt project. I have six pieces left and the border is complete. Those pieces though are eight feet long. It is hard to keep an eight foot seam straight

Next I need to reserve space on the long arm to sew the top, the batting and the back together

Doggio - You’ve given him a good home. He’ll come back.

Post 76

Sugar cereal was verboten growing up. I had my first Cap’n Crunch at the NC State Dining Hall. The crunch was satisfying. The mouth lacerations… not so much.

At the eye doctor, my pressure numbers were 11 in both eyes, a good score. They ran me through some other tests to take pix of my retinas and test my peripheral vision and such. Good results all around. It’s late October, so the staff, except for the doc, had on shirts with the clinic’s name and Hallowe’en stuff like Jack-O’-Lanterns and spiderwebs. Some of them had festive makeup as well.

The leader of our nation is talking about solar windmills wasting money and solar panels frying animals alive. He promised us he’d be like nothing we’d ever seen before, and he is that.

And some good news for the day. At the gym later than usual and was resting between treads when I heard my name being said close to me. Looked up and it was Tami, a ladyI had worked with for the last 6-8 years of my career. We hugged and she noted than John, another good friend from work was still there and would l like to have lunch sometime, so I provided her my phone number and now can look forward to seeing some folks I haven’t seen in almost a decade.

Now back to sweating…

There definitely was a story there and I’d kind of like to know what it was. Today after lunch with former colleagues, I decided to check and see if the scene was still there. Yup, except I could tell that some more roses had been taken because there were only 7 left as well as less tea lights than yesterday. I took everything left. The roses were starting to get a bit brown but were still acceptable so I put them by our outdoor statue of Blessed Mother. Although there was one that still looked pretty good and as I walked the trail back to my car, I offered it to a young lady out for a walk; she declined. Turned the tealights and the lantern to the off position. Will likely give them away to someone who has a use for them.

Oh, one mistake on my part yesterday. It wasn’t Disney Night on DWTS, it was Horror Movie Night. Disney Night is next week.

I picked up the blueberry strudel this morning after work and before going to lunch, it looks scrumptious; will have tomorrow for breakfast and for several days thereafter. I have been to each end of I75 and all points in between.

Thank you. I like the way you think.

Oopsie I finally had a chance to watch Newlyweds last evening; the jury is still out. Have you had an opportunity to watch it?

I don’t know how your building operates but Hubs worked for companies serving/selling/maintaining boilers and cooling towers. In some buildings, you can only have either the heat or the a/c working and you can’t change back and forth from day to day. At my last FT position this was the case. So, the heat went operational mid October and the cooling went operational mid May. If it got colder than was comfortable in late September/early October, you had to bring an extra sweater/jacket/puffer and/or wear long underwear, merino wool was best. If it got too hot in April/early May, bring a fan or dress in a sleeveless blouse and short skirt with no pantyhose or girdle.

or to stay off the video bird feeder.

I mentioned up post the lunch with some former colleagues. There is a small college in town, used to be a community college but apparently since they’re now offering some 4 yr degrees, they’ve been upgraded. They have a culinary program and a restaurant that they operate 2-3 days a week after about a month or so into each semester. Today was their Oktoberfest meal. I sent out a text several weeks ago to the former colleague text chain that includes about 16 or so people. There were only 3 of us there today. But I enjoyed it. Normally 6-8 people show up to these bi-monthly lunches and its hard to have an in-depth conversation with anyone. The gent that showed up today normally doesn’t say much as some of the ladies can get quite verbose. Since they weren’t there, he talked more than he has in a long time at one of our lunches. The other person there was a woman who I was besties with at work. Normally we don’t end up sitting near each other so it’s hard to get the scoop on what’s going on with her. Today was great. We took our time between courses: salads/soup, main meal, desserts. So, we were there for about 1-1/2 hrs. Time well spent.

Then I went to the City theater to exchange the Nutcracker tickets that Hubs and I had won for participating in the Anniversary Waltz since the Spartans play that day and my daughter and DG will be busy that day. So, I’m exchanging them from a Saturday matinee to a Sunday matinee. Unfortunately the box office wasn’t open but I know the theater manager and he said he will see to it that new tickets are issued and will have them put in Will Call.

When I got home, my intestines weren’t feeling their best so I lay down for about 2 hrs and scrolled through Instagram and Threads. Then did some adulting in bed; I had taken my credit card statement and credit card up with me; called and made the payment that was due today.

I had so much to eat at Oktoberfest lunch that I may not eat dinner; maybe just some applesauce.

Metal Mouse how nice to run into a former colleague; it will be fun to get together with her and the other gent for lunch sometime.

I heard someone pronounce Worcestershire sauce as “Wash your sister sauce,” and I’m calling it that from now on.

mollie, great photo! You have lovely hair. I’m envious.

The rain stopped. I’d better go drop off my ballot. Damn, that was a hard final.

Howdy Y’all! We procured and stowed provisions as well as pickin’ up fried chikin lunches which we consumed. Nappage and day drinkin’ were also achieved. I am feelin’ sinusy, so I think I will sleep with Ben tonight. I have read all, but due to sinusy feelin’, I am not of a mind to reply. Thus, yays, boos, hugs, noogies, chitlins, trouts, and how you doin’s all around, as needed.

So somebody was hanging out at the end of the building(and exploring fireplaces).

But Spot is home.

Wonderful news, Doggio!
