Honestly? I had to look it up, to see if it wasn’t a named strain yet. Definitely sounds like it; we already have Acapulco Gold.

And ya know what? It’s not. There’s some bizarre strain names[1] out there, but this one remains unaffiliated.

Sorry to hear about the basal cell. Cat glove. I know it sounds scary and one should always be concerned with a carcinoma, but you did get one with what’s usually an easy fix ( says someone who has had a few rounds with it and is religious about dermatology checks and sunscreen).

We shall procure provisions this mornin’ and get fried chikin plates from the Pubic Sto’ for lunch as today’s main need to feed. Then the usual RDOS sloth will take up the rest of the day.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then at some point I suppose I must purtify and don attire acceptable for bein’ amongst the great unwashed. Rah.

It’s lovely and sunny out there, if chilly and the wind has dropped. I should really head out somewhere and maybe go look at some pretty leaves and things.

Maybe do the boring clothes shopping I procrastinated my way out of yesterday as well; I guess I’m gonna need some smart interview-type clothes again, boo.

Forty-some Ferrets this morning - I can’t be bothered to look at the thermometer - heading to the upper 60s. Today I plan to set the rocks around the newly-prepped iris bed. I’ll plant Naked Lady bulbs along the back and side, then place the iris. At least that’s the plan. We’ll see how much I’m able to get done.

FCD is taking the just-finished cabinet to the boat to install it. He didn’t ask for help and I’m not going to offer. I refuse to be a mind reader. Sometimes I feel like he doesn’t ask as a test of sorts to see if I’ll volunteer or not. I’m too old for such games. Or maybe I’m jumping to conclusions. I dunno…

I got an email from the gummint about annual verification of dependent eligibility for benefits - specifically for health insurance. I recall doing it in the past, but the email didn’t include a link or a deadline, so I’m suspicious of the gummint hoping people miss it so they can stop paying out.

I know I only pay a portion of the actual insurance premium, and even at that, it’s almost $900/mo (to be raised to $974 in 2027) Maybe I’m paranoid… I did some poking around - verification is done during Open Season, which starts on Nov 9. So I put a reminder in Outlook to check again. I’ll take a look at other options but our coverage is outstanding and at our age, we need the best we can get.

Down to the last week of mid-term campaigning. I expect my texts and emails to reduce considerably. I’m so tired of candidates who aren’t even in my state, let alone my district, begging for $$. Blurred to whine - feel free to ignoreIt’s obscene how much it costs to be elected to positions that don’t pay huge amounts. But I know it’s about the power, not the paycheck. Anyway, in another week, they’ll start campaigning for 2028… :roll_eyes:

OK, that’s out of my system. In a little bit, I’ll shower and dress to get grubby. For now, there’s a bit more reading to be done.

Cat_Glove sorry to hear about the news from the dermatologist, I hope they can get you sorted out very quickly. Yay for getting stuff done though, a productive day with a nice bit of outdoor walking sounds perfect.

Yesterday was a busy day, I logged out of irk on time and finished sorted out campus food, then went to the gym. Came home and fed cats ('im indoors forgot!), then had some sofa time with Blossom before dinner arrived. We watched some tellybox stuff and I was in bed at a very reasonable hour.

Up stupidly early today, sheveled and on campus in time to find my 9am meeting had been cancelled. Not a problem, I still had a 10.30am one to look forward to! It’s a nice day here, only three of us in the office and TM has the day off so we’re enjoying the quiet.

I have no plans for tonight, would have been out with friends but one of them isn’t well so we’ve cancelled for this week. That means I’m at home, and I’ll be cooking. I took some chicken out of the freezer and am waiting for inspiration to strike!

Good morning. I did double yoga last night. My Monday Power instructor, whom I know from church, attended the second class. She was a bit surprised at the sweaty mess standing under the ceiling fan desperately trying to dry herself off, and asked if I were doubling up. I told her yes, and she was quiet and then asked “How many power classes do you do in a week?” I answered three - sometimes four, depending on my meeting schedule. She was a bit surprised and asked why I was taking so many. I told her one of my medications in known for causing loss of muscle mass. She looked curious and asked what I was taking, so I told her. She was quiet and finally said, “I guess that explains the painted toenails.” I have decided that being honest and treating matter-of-factly is the way to go. Most people who know me also know my fuck supply (which was rather low to begin with) is nearly depleted.

I’m Gen X, I’m tired, and I’m nearly out of fucks to give.

I do have a lot of respect or Bishop Rowe. I agree - he’s great. If you ever get the chance to meet Bishop Curry, take it. When he speaks with you, you feel like the most important person in the room. My MIL was on the vestry of a Colony in Garner, so Bishop Curry was a frequent visitor. He recognized Mrs Magill about ten years later when he visited our church in Charlotte.

Depending on how active you want to be, I would recommend a flow from a low crescent lung to a half split flow, or a half frog pose. A pigeon pose is also good, but you have to keep the front knee at 90º, which is not easy for some people. I have to manually pick up my ankle and move it forward.

It’s 43F and damp outside. We’ll reach 53F with rain showers and clouds all day.

Cat Glove, I’m sorry about the diagnosis, but I’m glad it’s fixed relatively easily.

My garbage company is a private company that is part of a large conglomerate, and they are my only choice unless I want to make dump runs. I pay $90-something every two months, and that includes large yard waste and recycling bins. Since I live in the unincorporated part of the county, there are no extras like special days for getting rid of excess garbage, furniture, yard waste or appliances. Cities around me that use the same company have that. Other nearby cities use city garbage collection, which is part of the overall utility bill.

Mr. Taters slept late yesterday, woke up long enough to have a little broth, and went back to bed for a while longer. When he woke again, he felt pretty decent, though washed out. I brought up seeing a doc, and he said that if he got this a third time, he’d go. I pointed out that he’s been sick three times already with this. He googled it and thinks he’s just had different strains of the flu, and they hit so hard because his resistance is down. :roll_eyes: Maybe, maybe not. He’s lost weight. I think something else is going on, and I told him so. I also told him he needs to get flu shots since he seems so vulnerable all of a sudden. He said, “Next year, I’ve already had the flu now, so there is no point.” Grrrrrrr. He can be so damn annoying.

I need to get groceries, and I’m hoping the pups’ Apoquel prescription is ready today so I can pick it up while I’m out.

In my county, there are 2 or 3 private companies that pick up trash - not sure if any of them do recycling. According to Google’s AI, it runs $55-$85 per quarter. Being just 2 of us, it’s rare that we fill a can in a week, so we just take our own to the convenience center every 3-4 weeks for free, and we can take recycling, used oil, used batteries, scrap metal, fluorescent tubes, electronics, all for free. Plus people unofficially leave good stuff near the dumpsters for whoever wants it - we’ve left and picked up things ourselves.

The landfill charges $10 per pickup truckload, or by the ton if you use a trailer. We’ve saved a buttload over the years, even factoring in our gas, by taking it ourselves. So until we’re too infirm to drive to the county dumpsters, we shall continue.

OK, shower time, then work. It’s 10AM, fercryinoutloud!!

A gloomy start to the day has turned to blue skies.

Went to exercise, but the room was easily 80F or more, so it was just mild stretches. They really need to get the HVAC under control.

I had a package waiting outside the apartment door this morning. The wife’s niece, who is a jumbo jet pilot, sent us a selection of Brazilian coffee that she picked up in Rio on her last trip. I now have more bags of coffee beans than I can possibly use before I die.

Need to make a grocery run, but otherwise a lazy day.

Iris are all planted! The ones my mom identified by color are clumped together and the rest are randomly placed. So come spring, we shall see what’s there.

Meanwhile, I have a metric butt-ton of naked lady bulbs. Maybe tomorrow I’ll spread them all over the side hill. I think I’ll put a few in the back yard too. But I’m done for now. I’s tahred!!

The cabinet went right into the boat with ease, so FCD is pleased. Apparently all his measuring and re-measuring and re-re-measuring paid off. Now he’s working on the helmsman seat that will go atop the cabinet.

As for me, I’m going to take a break, then maybe play in clay.

Afternoon all. Stayed in bed until after 9am today (the baseball game went to extra innings) and by the time I had checked e-mail, got the dishwasher dishwashering and did some errands (gas for car, glasses nose guards attached, and banking done) and got home, it was after 12pm so I missed my morning missive. Relaxing now, pancakes and bacon are in my belly and nothing else is on the agenda, so RDOS activities will reign supreme. And it’s 72F, bright and shiny outside with nary a chance of rain. Life is good.

FCM, good point on the insurance, I haven’t got anything except ads for Medicare Advantage plans, which I don’t need. Haven’t been getting many letters (mostly the Democrats begging for $$$) probably because Ali-bama is so far MAGA red it’s not worth putting much funding into. And conga-rats for (almost) finishing the fall planting.

Knots, eyes have been behaving this year, probably will get them checked in 2027 unless something goes wrong. Hope the pressure is fine.

Apprently starting people earlier, and letting people with clerk program access makes things run smoother. Who knew. I was out by 11:30, came home, showered, and did some fruitless cat searching. I had orange cranberry oatmeal for lunch.

Still MIA. I had put out some cat food and liver treats, the liver treats were eaten. So maybe he’s hanging around. Or Onan has turned carnivorous.

I pay Big Trash &15 a month.
