Done for the day. Tomorrow the rocks will be put in place (they’re just sitting on the pavement) and I’ll start planting. I hope the water I sprayed on it will be absorbed or evaporate a bit. I don’t relish kneeling in mud.
They started with a clinically clean space. The poor patient had changed his clothes before entering. The crew were more concerned with their own “ick” reaction to creepy crawlies.
To help you with your procrastinating, how would you categorize someone who drinks loose leaf oolong with hot water from the coffee machine at work? (There’s a separate tap for the hot water - I don’t get coffee-flavored hot water.)
Hope the antibiotic cream does its job and that the surgery gets all of the carcinoma.
Yay for happy! (And the other dwarves as well.)
Washer repair has been delayed two weeks due to a worker shortage. Since it works, that’s fine with me. I’d like the bells and whistle to work as well, but I can live with the basics for a few more weeks.
Hubby got a letter from the auto insurance company which invites him to install an app. For auto insurance. We get a bill once a year. Which is anyway an ebill - it’s submitted directly to our bank account. We pay it. Why do we need an app?
stainless steel rat, they aren’t rioting. they are having a love in.
kitten mitten, the snails make rabbits look like pandas. i put 6 in the tank. they are in the hundred now. i’ve taken some out. anytime i see the eggs i try to get the betta and corys to eat them.
i have named the biggest pepper cory in the office tank “chunks”. today i bound up 50 reports at the office. this was the first time the fish had to deal with prolonged vibrations from the punch and binder. they did not seem phased by it.
the plants have gone crazy as well. i’m going to have quite a few water plants for the plant exchange. and i just realized we have many vessels in the office for water gardens… hmmmmmm.
I’m so sorry. I had three bouts of it in a month and that was the worse month of my life. I did finally call my doctor who gave me some prescription strength stuff to stop up both ends, but that was treating the symptoms and not the cause.
I do hope he feels better quickly.
We put a child proof latch on our freezer after it was left open a second time. I’m glad you caught it before you had to pitch all of that food.
Dang it! I hope they get everything the first time, cancer just sucks.
I haven’t had pineapple upside down cake in a million years and that’s a shame because it is so easy and so good. *makes shopping list.
I have stopped allowing companies to do that to me. It might be more convenient for them, but I’m the end consumer and I’m the one paying for the service. I hope you can not install it.
I would never make a water garden for myself, but if someone gave me one, I would be super happy. Happy coworkers are helpful coworkers so I say go for it.
So not much happened here today. Hubs filed the homestead paperwork on our home and I’m not sure how I feel about it. This lowers our property taxes and freezes it at 2027 rates.
Property taxes pay for things I use on a regular basis and I don’t mind paying my fair share. Except so much taxpayer money is being diverted to charter schools and land for data centers that I’m not so happy to pay for.
We found a parking spot where I could watch the door while I waited and I was happily surprised at the constant stream of people going in. (Saturday, many of us wore our “I voted early” stickers to the rally. I felt like one of the in crowd.)
He also dropped off a lot of snubbed catfud at the kitty rescue, I dropped off a box of period supplies to the woman’s shelter and he voted. That kinda surprised me, he usually wants to stand in line on election day and I’m the one who always votes early.
The Pumpkin House had the decorations out but the lights weren’t on. That’s a better picture than I would have been able to get had we been able to stop but there wasn’t any parking available.
I bid on a couple of pieces in the ANG auction, it was disappointing that there were so few counted kits, everyone is going to painted and printed canvas now and I hates them. I let one go and won the other, so I paid for that today.
so best laid plans to RDOS came to naught. Shortly after I last posted, I received a phone call from the parish office staff. Not sure if I mentioned yesterday but while I was at the funeral mass, I felt that I would like to volunteer to help with the funeral ministry so I called when I returned from the luncheon and left a voice message. The staff said I needed to come to pick up a paper that explains the tasks that are part of the funeral assistant ministry. So I called the pharmacy to see if/when the antibiotic ointment would be ready and was told 20 minutes. I had already been researching the few offices that I hadn’t filled out on my ballot so quickly completed that so I could kill 3 birds with one stone.
first I stopped at the parish office and picked up the guidelines for funeral assistants. next I drove to the pharmacy and picked up the prescription. the clerk was about to put it in a plastic bag and I said no bag please. Then I thought for a second and asked for one of their largest paper bags as that’s what I keep Hubs prescriptions in but the current one (which is the second) had torn almost halfway down the side. So, I was glad to be able to replace that. Then I drove to the City Clerk’s office and handed in both of our ballots. Yay I VOTED!!!
As I was driving home, I thought hey, it’s such a nice day and the leaves are really turning, I should walk in the woods. The local woods is right on the way home so I pulled into the parking lot. On the way to the trail I passed the new pirate themed playscape that is being installed. Since it was just after noon, all the workers were sitting in their vehicles so I took the opportunity to go through the fence opening and walk all around it. It will be magnificent for the children; should be at $1.5M. Then I crossed the bridge over the river to access the trail and didn’t go too terribly far down it. First I came across a very small side path that someone had put LED tea lights on along with a plastic hanging lantern and at the end of the tea lights was a brown paper floral wrapped package of peach roses on the ground. Many of the tea lights had burnt out and were not exactly lined up nicely. I was wondering if it was perhaps a proposal gone wrong. I cannot tell a lie, I took one of the roses. So I continued on and turned onto the little known path that goes through the deepest part of the forest. I hadn’t gone more than a short distance when BF texted and asked if I wanted to walk this afternoon. Long story short (which isn’t normal for me) I turned around, we met up at my house then she drove to the Lakeview Trail that Bella and I had hiked on Sunday. Today we went the entire way 3.8 miles. The trees were even more gorgeous than on Sunday, pretty gosh darn close to peak. We also happened upon a deer. We stopped as soon as I spotted her and we all looked at each other then we backed away and went back a little until we could join up with the return part of the trail. This hike was very good for both of our souls!
I’ve eaten my leftovers; see below. Hubs will have to forage. He got home about 15 minutes after I did. He had gone to some movie, Heart of the Beast. He enjoyed it. Now he’s taking a nap and I’m about to be a RDOS. Although DWTS tonight! (unfortunately Disney night; my friend and I think that Disney night has jumped the shark)
red my Mom used a 13 x 9 pyrex cake pan to make her pineapple upside down cakes.
FCM supper is leftover turkey loaf, sweet potato and cucumbers dipped in garlic spread.
There’s a story there … but I’d have taken a rose, too. Better you get to enjoy it, than it rotting away in the dark woods.
{ dramatic emo pose of anguish }
Went out for a few minor errands, including what I hoped was a quick stop at Walliest of Worlds.
How, my friends, can you run a giant supermarket and be completely out of lemons (one of the main things I came in for.)
Then, since on my way out I saw a lady stocking produce, I asked politely if maybe they had more lemons that just came off the truck & hadn’t been stocked yet?
She said, “Oh, they’re out there, we have them in bags.”
No, sugarplum. You have bags of oranges, and limes.
two of these things
is not like the other one
Had to make a special stop over at Meijer just for friggin’ lemons.
While doing so, the guy behind me got pulled over, right in my rear view, so that was a brief, minor panic. (Sucks to be him, but better thee than me.)
He’ll come back for his stinky gooshy-fud treats, if that’s ever on his agenda … (but sending “GET YR @$$ HOME!” vibes your way regardless.)
The roof of my mouth hurt reading this, and I almost never even had Capn Crunch. (I’m a Lucky Charms gal, m’self, if the username didn’t give it away.)
Howdy Y’all! I laundered but didn’t iron. Future me will not like present me very much, but he’ll deal. RDOS sloth did indeed take up the rest of the day as even sup was nuked leftovers. I watched stoopid teevee for a while. I think bedtime will be soon as I feel sleepified.
Nuts glad I could impress upon you the need to do laundry. Be a RDOS for a bit. It’ll be good practice for the future.
BooFae I could be down with playin’ cards and partyin’ with aliens.
Hippie happy quilt assembly!
Cat_Glove I have I75’d it a lot of times in my life, though not as far as Michigan. I have been as far north as Cincinnati and as far south as well, to where it ends. Indeed, you deserved a treat!
Cookie yay for heat! Good idea for the bribe money.
Taters hope Mr. Taters is feelin’ better today.
Mollie Michael Curry would be some big shoes to fill. However, I think the current Presiding Bishop of the ECUSA is doin’ a great job. Also, lookin’ good in that pic! A great reason to have a big happy.
shoe Monkey is a handsome fella! Coolio is lookin’ good as well.
Not strange at all, that’s how my town does it too, all competing garbage companies that you have to pay $25~28 a month to haul away trash. Recyclables are another $10-12 a month and during 8 months of the grass/leaves year another $15 to haul away clippings and leaves.
I just do the required (you’ll get cited if you don’t) garbage bin weekly-as a house of one I just dont create enough to justify extra for recycling. When I have gathered enough recyclables and cardboard I can drop those off at the 6-8 public recycle lots around the city-it takes me months to collect enough recyclables to cart them there. Cardboard boxes are the bane there, they cant go in the $25 a month bin. Have to be broken down and taken to a city site or pay separately.
Evening all. As predicted, mostly lazed around the house this morning, spent several hours at the gym this afternoon, and then coached soccer for about 90 minutes. Came home to some Mac-n-Cheese to fill what was empty and will soon head to the WC to empty what is now full.
One of the little nose pads came off my glasses, I bought some replacements but the last bits of the original pads is still in the fixture and won’t come out, so I’ll have to see the optician tomorrow to get it done. No soccer for a couple of days, so will have a little more time to do things.
And nearly 30 messages behind, so better get down to it…
JtC, from the pic, it looks lovely out there. And you both did good on your donations. And ANG? (to me it means Army National Guard, but that doesn’t sound right).
Cat Glove, never did like the word ‘carcinoma’, but hopefully it’s caught and sounds like it’s treatable. Enjoy the blueberries and the good memories. And a good triple play of getting things done. I can do 3.8 miles, but mostly on the treadmill at the gym, your walk is much nicer.
doggio, Hopefully spot will find his way back to you sooner than later.
Herald, my bins are the same for both recycling and regular trash, the recycles are done by a private contractor while trash is done by the city.
wet one, happy slothing!
Dicey, because everyone needs as many apps as possible all the time (or at least it seems that way sometimes…).
rocky, ah, the old multiplication issue…hope you can deal with it.
And that’s about all for today. Going to watch the World Serious for a bit before heading off to Slumberland. Catch y’all tomorrow.
