I am way out of the loop with y’all and had planned to skip this week’s thread entirely, but I just nuked a chicken pot pie for lunch after considering and rejecting the idea of cooking it in the oven, and it made me think of shoe (a discussion from MMPs past)…so now I gotta pop in here and mention it.
I did some seriously quick scrolling through the previous 303 posts, but managed to note a couple things:
- Ouch, FCM!! I hope you heal quickly!
- Congrats on Bella, JtC! So cute!!
If I missed anything major from anyone else, mea culpa.
My favorite pet is easily Bailey (current doggy). As a kid my family had a couple of short-term cats (one died in our apartment fire when I was almost 5; the other had to be surrended not long after we got her because we moved overseas and the quarantine restriction would have been ridiculous), but my first real pet was my cat Smokey: she was adopted as a kitten when I was 15, and she lived for 18 years. I didn’t think I was capable of loving an animal more than I loved her until I got this dog.
Speaking of the dog, she turned 16 on Monday!
At her size, she’s the equivalent of 87 in people years…and it shows, but she’s still mostly a happy girl and relatively healthy.
Last week I was slammed, y’all. Day job + a proposal (with a short deadline) + a voice lesson + a gig (which went well!) + Friday’s IT issues =
The proposal is actually still kicking my butt: I’m working today – taking a long lunch break at the moment – and I worked a few hours yesterday after my personal training session.
On Friday morning, the pianist from Thursday night’s gig tested positive for COVID.
I have no symptoms and am almost definitely just fine, but I have to assume that I was exposed and act accordingly/responsibly: I’d gone into the office on Friday for in-person proposal discussions so I went home “early,” and I also cancelled today’s plans with a friend for lunch and a play. Happily, we were able to reschedule the lunch for 3 weeks from today. (I also gave my personal trainer a heads up; he was fine with meeting yesterday.) On the way home from the office on Friday I bought some antigen tests: it was the first time I paid for tests, and I was surprised to discover that they’re $10/each! The CDC says that with no symptoms I should test 5 days after exposure, so I’ll do that on Tuesday. I’ve managed to avoid COVID so far: I’m really hoping that streak continues!
Time to get back to work. I won’t finish this proposal section today, but while it’s easy to focus I want to do as much as I can for as long as I’m willing. It has to be done done by COB Thursday, so this week might be on the busy side again, but I’ll try to catch up with everyone properly in the next thread.
