(Old) About your favorite pet in the MMP

Dang!

I’m probably lucky I didn’t break mine. But judging by bruises on my right leg and my left hand, it appears I spread the impact. I’m in my recliner with an ice pack over the bandage. Wonder how much I’ll hurt tomorrow…

For several years now, my arms bruise easily… and I do a lot of projects and bang my arms all the time. Wifey, RN says this bruising is ‘abnormal’, and suggested I get a complete blood count the next time I go in for a checkup. My PCP has ordered a CBC test sometime in September.

I ran the mowin’ machine over my face. (I prefer blades, but today I dinna wanna.) I took a shower, put on jeans and socks and shoes, and asked SWMBO if we were going to church today. She said no. I wish I had known yesterday. I could have worked on the motorcycle cowling. Not motivated a half-hour before noon. So I put up the new six-foot Coolaroo shade over the front window.

I am way out of the loop with y’all and had planned to skip this week’s thread entirely, but I just nuked a chicken pot pie for lunch after considering and rejecting the idea of cooking it in the oven, and it made me think of shoe (a discussion from MMPs past)…so now I gotta pop in here and mention it.

I did some seriously quick scrolling through the previous 303 posts, but managed to note a couple things:

  • Ouch, FCM!! I hope you heal quickly!
  • Congrats on Bella, JtC! So cute!!

If I missed anything major from anyone else, mea culpa. :frowning:

My favorite pet is easily Bailey (current doggy). As a kid my family had a couple of short-term cats (one died in our apartment fire when I was almost 5; the other had to be surrended not long after we got her because we moved overseas and the quarantine restriction would have been ridiculous), but my first real pet was my cat Smokey: she was adopted as a kitten when I was 15, and she lived for 18 years. I didn’t think I was capable of loving an animal more than I loved her until I got this dog.

Speaking of the dog, she turned 16 on Monday! :birthday: At her size, she’s the equivalent of 87 in people years…and it shows, but she’s still mostly a happy girl and relatively healthy.

Last week I was slammed, y’all. Day job + a proposal (with a short deadline) + a voice lesson + a gig (which went well!) + Friday’s IT issues = :scream: The proposal is actually still kicking my butt: I’m working today – taking a long lunch break at the moment – and I worked a few hours yesterday after my personal training session.

On Friday morning, the pianist from Thursday night’s gig tested positive for COVID. I have no symptoms and am almost definitely just fine, but I have to assume that I was exposed and act accordingly/responsibly: I’d gone into the office on Friday for in-person proposal discussions so I went home “early,” and I also cancelled today’s plans with a friend for lunch and a play. Happily, we were able to reschedule the lunch for 3 weeks from today. (I also gave my personal trainer a heads up; he was fine with meeting yesterday.) On the way home from the office on Friday I bought some antigen tests: it was the first time I paid for tests, and I was surprised to discover that they’re $10/each! The CDC says that with no symptoms I should test 5 days after exposure, so I’ll do that on Tuesday. I’ve managed to avoid COVID so far: I’m really hoping that streak continues! :crossed_fingers:

Time to get back to work. I won’t finish this proposal section today, but while it’s easy to focus I want to do as much as I can for as long as I’m willing. It has to be done done by COB Thursday, so this week might be on the busy side again, but I’ll try to catch up with everyone properly in the next thread.

Oh my god, just let them together! What’s with this “doorstop” nonsense.

Went to church.
We had a church picnic after.
I came home to first check the Dope, and am surprised about Biden.
Things are changing all over the place.
Whats next?
Off to Dunkin.:bubble_tea:

I would just open the door, Hubs is a worrywart. A few extra days of separation won’t hurt them and it will stop Hubs from fussing. Sometimes ya gotta choose your battles.

Yikes Mooooooom! Hope that you’re repaired soonest.

Dachshunds were bred to hunt badgers, which are some pretty mean fighters, so it doesn’t surprise me when one wants to punch above her weight.

Happy birthday Bailey!

Sunday chores are done and Sunday dinner (ginger chicken couscous) being eaten. Other than that, I’ve messed around in the studio, walked and played fetch with Nelson.

FCM, ouch ouch ouch!

And a good late afternoon/early evening to you all. Did make it to the gym, but then the combination I had programmed (or so I thought) on my new lock didn’t work so I had to have the gym folks cut it off (the lock, doggio, the lock) and when I got dressed and ready to leave that 50% chance of rain decided to appear all at once so got a bit soaked enroute home (of course, there isn’t a drop of rain falling now…). So in for the night with readin’ and internettin’ to keep me occupied.

FCM, that’s some pretty impressive stitchin’ there; you take care of yourself now, don’t overdo.

JtC, probably I would agree with Hubs, let Bella get used to your place and you folks being ‘home’ before meeting up with GG. Sounds like a pretty confident feline, though.

Wheelie, have no idea what the ticket cost was, suspect the ‘team outing expense’ will be viewed with some skepticisom by the money folks back home, but heck, it was a good day for baseball (I hope). Thanks for sharing the pics.

Oopsie, sounds like abusy week was had, hope things slow down this coming week. And hope the COVID tests remain negative.

And time to get a bit to eat. Take care and if I don’t get back on tonight, see y’all on the next MMP.

Apparently, the neighbors hadn’t run out of fireworks and are using them up.
Hope it ends soon because we have a lot of dogs in the building and theres no need to scare them.
It is beautiful out.
70 some degrees, totally feels like summer.
Hoping to get hired this week.
I am healing well.
I am mostly healthy; only one last thing, a colonoscopy, and I’ll be set. Not bad for 64.

I did the usual cleaning and laundry, changed Spot’s litter, and took the trash to the Giant Yellow Bin. I’m having a Wisconsin Old Fashioned, and Spot is snoozing in the cat tree.

So your gym isn’t located here?

Happy early Birthday Bailey!

That’s good, you need a (non-bone)break.

I once broke a tiny bone in my foot.
I am not worried, God keeps supplying my needs.

After four semesters of German, I should point out that I would pronounce that Whiner Cutoff Rd.

Happy Sunday!

No park today. I woke up in the middle of the night quite ill. I don’t know if it was something I ate, a new supplement I started taking, or some kind of bug.
I had to go outside and sit in the sun later in the morning because I was freezing. Which makes me think it was some kind of bug.

OUCHIE! OUCHIE! OUCHIE! FCM
That hurts to look at.

Happy Birthday Bailey

Echo tends to go after the big dogs. When a chiweenie went after her, she tucked her tail and ran to me for protection. She can be very very sweet, but not the sharpest tool in the shed.

Cute kitties, Wheelie

There is always a next mess, for sure MetalMouse.
I detest clutter, it makes me irritable.

I didn’t get much done today besides a lot of napping. Tomorrow is going to be busy.

I mentioned in the Dinner thread that I wanted to make shrimp and Trader Joe’s Asian-style stir-fry vegetables for dinner tonight, but Mrs. L.A. didn’t want any shrimp. So I made her the stir-fry vegetables and some rice. I made Cajun-seasoned catfish for me, and finished off the leftover creamed spinach w/feta. (One of Wifey, RN’s patients gave her the frozen catfish. The Spousal Unit likes catfish, but found the texture of these ones ‘mushy’. I thought they were fine.)

Evening all. Belly is full and internet has been browsed, so heading off to bed and working the NY Times puzzles before sleepage. Still some rain and thunder in the area, about 50% chance for more tomorrow and the whole next week looks like a good chance of wetness. At least the Weather Wizards are saying it will stay below 90F (only 85-87F for the high…).

doggio, knew you wouldn’t disappoint.

Not the summers I have become used too…

Feel better soon Sari

And away I go. Take care and catch y’all on the next MMP.

See you all on the other side of the week.
I know someone will come up with a great title while I’m sleeping.

One of my favorite edibles has CBC mixed in. Different from the commonly known CBD, and I know that’s not what you meant.

Good for pain:

Ehrmehgawd, I’m famous!

That sounds really good. Homemade?

… but not the nice people at your church?

I got a LOL at the mental image.

I’m still dealing with this :rage: phone saga, plus G.C. decided that we’ve broken up.

He was supposed to come over a couple weeks ago; bailed; then was all, “You’ve probably been talking to other people since I haven’t been around,” and when I replied, quite genuinely, that I was tits deep in my own shit rather busy at the moment, he replied, “Yeah, right” and BLOCKED me.

So fuck his ass I wish him well.

So he apparently didn’t want any commitment, but doesn’t want you to have a life outside of spinning your wheels on standby waiting for him to bother to remember you exist? You can definitely do much better and should. (contemplates a gift box of used cat litter for the jerk)
