(Old) About your favorite pet in the MMP

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 73 Amurrkin out and partly cloudy with a predicted high of 87 with rain showers throughout the day. Hopefully they will wait until afternoon. The big item on today’s agenda is deheathenization, in which I have Chalice duty, followed by a very large and in charge Sunday brunch and sayin’ goodbye to Fr. Jim. He will need to absent himself for a bit whilst new Priest gets settled in. After all that it will be back to da cave for nappage, day drinkin’, and other RDOS inactivities.

Coppertone appropriate/inappropriate appendages crossed. I take it this one sounds promisin’.

Lily the stones look nice. I have river rock on two sides of the cee-mint pond as filler between it and the fence.

VanGo glad the feets are feelin’ better.

JtC glad Bella is settlin’ in.

red I’m sure Nelson also loves it when Davonte is workin’. Yay for the rain!

CupCakes hooray for bein’ on the mend!

sari I think you did a good thing tellin’ some family history to the younger cousins.

shoe I agree. BLTs need whole lettuce leaves.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then it will be time for bean bakin’ and purtification for deheathenization.

Happy Sunday Y’all!

At my parents’ 25th anniversary party (they rented a hall and had a big to-do) my dad introduced me to a woman he’d dated as a teen. He said something like “If things had gone differently, she could have been your mother.” That messed with my head. If things had gone differently, I wouldn’t have been me! Then what?? I was 23 at the time - it shouldn’t have freaked me out as much as it did.

At the risk of jinxing things - second good night of sleep in a row. I’m pretty sure the antihistamine I take has something to do with it. No itchies, no wakies - good night! FCD said the nasty place behind my knee is looking better. Here’s hoping!

We’re also hoping to get the boat electrical all done today. I’m going with him to help. It will be a relief it this is it. Plus the batteries need to be charged. I hope this business of them discharging fully doesn’t mean we’ll need to replace them. They’re not like car batteries - much more $$$ and there are 3 of them. So fingers crossed on that, too.

We had a nice rain yesterday afternoon. More is promised on and off all week, or not, depending which weather site you consult. But I may be spared watering. I need to keep checking my veggie patch, tho. A bunch of grape 'maters seemed to ripen all at once and some fell off and bugs got them. I don’t want that to happen again.

I did learn this year how I should do my veggie patch next year. I’m going to take down my greenhouse (that was a failed experiment) and put in a raised bed there - that’s a project for this fall. Something to look forward to.

For now, I need to go take my morning meds, and start my day.

Happy Sunday!!

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today. I shall clean in the morning, and sloth in the afternoon. Spot is watching his morning shows.

Consider Gordie(60lbs.) tried to fight a 10 point Whitetail deer(150lbs.) and a Sicilian Mastiff(160lbs.), no.

I am so tired this morning and considering a nap. But while I’m awake, I’ve switched couch sides. MusicMan will not be happy with this. Normally when he was on the road, this was my side of the couch and then he took it over when he was home. Now, he’s just taken it for good. But, with my leg and (especially) my hip the way that it is, it feels better to sit over here. We’ll see if I have to arm wrestle him for it later.
At any rate, somebody does not appear to be onboard with this decision of mine!

Onward to the kitchen!

“I have been cruelly abandoned.” - Annie

Good morning everyone,

It’s 62F and partly cloudy at the moment. Our expected high temperature is 85F, and we’ll have partly cloudy skies until late afternoon when the sun will fully emerge from behind the clouds.

Yesterday,I weed-whacked, mowed, and used the blower on the lawn and surrounding areas, and I watered the lawn and posies, too. The dogs’ portion of the yard is more dirt than grass (although is slowly coming back), and is filled with rocks, pebbles and mulch from the so-called walled garden above it. I always have to rake that area before mowing it and pick up all the rocks and pebbles.

After I was finished mowing, I turned on the sprinkler to water not only what remained of the lawn but also to wet down the area behind the retaining wall in hopes of cutting down on the dust. Since the dogs have managed to remove my weed cloth and most of the mulch in that area, it’s very dusty since they go tearing up and down that area chasing each other.

Since it was now so dusty, I was covered in blown-back dust and needed a shower. After my shower, I found both dogs in their kennels, the floor covered in mud tracks, the dogs wet, with a layer of dirt. I had let the dogs out to inspect my work and potty before I turned on the sprinkler and went upstairs to shower, but my husband decided they needed to potty. This decision had little to no common sense, and I was decidedly unhappy. So, I had to clean the kennels and the dogs and then sweep and vacuum the floors. My husband was definitely in the doghouse.

It was hot. I had just finished taking a shower, and now I had to get all sweaty again doing these unexpected chores.

I need to run down to Home Depot today to get some bags of dirt/topsoil/lawn dirt to fill in the giant holes the dogs have dug right next to my patio. I don’t know what’s up with that all of a sudden, but the holes are ankle-busting hazards, and I need to fill them in. I think I’ll stop at the nail salon to get my much-needed pedicure, and then I’ll stop at Mud Bay to pick up some doggy ice cream and a couple more stuffed salmon toys.

Maisie has decided she LUUUUUUURVES her stuffed salmon (they’ve had them for months), and now runs around with it in her mouth (inside and outside), plus constantly brings it to me for me toss in the air so she can jump up and catch it. It’s been a game we’ve been playing for nearly a month.

In other doggy news, the pups are nearly back to normal with eating their kibble, so I will finish this kibble out, and then get a new flavor.

JtC, Bella looks like a lovely kitty. I can’t wait until she’s fully assimilated into the household and she and GG can play together. I expect regular updates!

LilyI loved those big river rocks! If the dogs weren’t running through the area behind the retaining wall and I wasn’t afraid they’d all roll downhill, I’d definitely utilize them in that area.

Jack_Batty, have you tried USAJOBS? It’s a listing for all fed gov jobs. There is a big federal presence down your way.

Nettie, I’m glad the cats are back to feeling somewhat normal again.

I was thinking of returning to the North Cascades again during my vacation, but the highway is closed from Diablo Lake to Winthrop, so unless they can knock down the fires before then, I’ll need to make different plans.

Once again, it’s time to begin morning chores and then head out for my errands. I hope you all have a good day.

It’s essentially a high viz poncho with reflective strips. Perhaps glow-in-the-dark wasn’t accurate.

And 18# Nelson still wants to take on our 120# lab / mastiff neighbor Link. Good thing Link’s a mellow boy.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and fixing to do KP / Sunday chores. Just the usual stuff shakin’ at CasaRoja today.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

And I’m back in the ER. I tripped getting on the boat and fell against a metal tread. My left shin is torn up - FCD said he thought it might be cut to the bone. So that sux. Waiting to be seen by a doc. There will be stitches.

I hadn’t been in the ER since I was a kid. And now it’s twice in less than 2 months.

Morning all. Have done the Sunday NY TImes run, had to stop at a couple of places before I found it, but now have reading and puzzle matter for the next several days. Supposed to get to 87F today and there is a 50% chance of rain today and tomorrow. Have actually cleaned the terlets this morning, so that will count as my household chore for the day if I sloth the rest of it. Fettuchini in a couple more hours then considering some gym time to keep the daily streak going.

JtC, I remember watching the Moon landing in black and white and sometime during the landing I went outside to look at the Moon and think ‘men are up there right now’. And think the cats will do just fine together.

I understood that reference…then again, I think most Southerners would…

Nettie, glad your felines are eating better, even if it does make them feistier.

Sari, I have pictures I haven’t re-hung since the re-painting several years ago, so I can understand clutter, especially in an office space. One of these days you’ll just look around and do it, won’t be planned but some invisible trigger will be flipped and you’ll straighten it up…until the next mess.

shoe, shredded lettuce on a BLT? I concur, that is odd.

Just keep telling yourself that…

Nope, my dachshund Tina when I was young was ready to take on the world, one ankle at a time…

J-Bats, sounds like a nice walk unspoiled.

Swampy, happy churchin’ and brunchin’.

FCM, we’re all happy accidents of the Multi-verse. Sometimes I ponder if things had gone differently in some cases I might be a (hopefully) happily married man with kids and grandkids about and a wife who is aging gracefully with me; but we have to manage the hand we’re dealt so I don’t worry too much about the might-have-beens.

And just read your last message; {{hugs}} and hope they get it cleaned up for you.

Sticky Buns, if it is good for your leg, maintain control of that end of the couch. Let us know who recovers from their snit first, MusicMan or Annie.

Taters, got a couple holes in my lawn, not dog-made, may work up enough ambition to get some per-fessionals out to fill them. And was awful sweet of you not to murder your husband (a clear case of justifiable homicide IMHO…)

And onward into Sunday. Take care all.

{{{FCM}}} - Cut that out!

Tossed away like a used tissue!

They are so good with the guilt trips, aren’t they?

So Bella is a lonesome kitteh. She hasn’t been alone before, she’s always had foster and litter mates around. She tried to escape when Hubs was giving her breakfast. He said she was making a beeline for GG, so I’m guessing she didn’t notice that he was three times her size.

Hubs is going to Lowes for a door stop so we can open the door a couple of inches to let them both see each other. Later we will leave the door open enough for Bella to go through but not GG. That way she will have a safe spot to retreat to. We probably need to figure something out for GG as well, she’s a very active lil girl.

They just gave me a tetanus shot because I don’t remember when I got one last. And they put numbing gel on the boo-boo so it can be stitched up. It’s already sporting a colorful bruise.

Not the way we planned to spend our day. Dammit.

Yay, Bella!!! Welcome to the Cane family! She reminds me of one of my Sister-in-law’s kitties, who is a real sweetie. So of course I’m sure Bella will be too!

FCM, ouch!!! I had a similar thing happen years ago; could actually see my shin bone. Here’s hoping they do a good job patching you up and it heals cleanly.

I was 6 when Apollo 11 landed. I kinda-sorta remember watching, but didn’t really understand how big a deal it was. My 8-year-old brother, on the other hand, was totally into it.

This past week was much less tiring, but we’re still working long days. Put in a total of 51 hours. Yesterday I was planning to go to the minor league game in Brooklyn, but my cow-orker wanted to see Yankee stadium, so I went there with him instead. We had great seats, and he was somehow able to expense the tickets as a “team outing” or some such thing. Win-win!
It was a day game, and I briefly considered shooting down to Coney Island afterward to catch the Cyclones game as well, but I just didn’t have it in me. I rested back at the hotel for a couple hours, then took a nice walk up through Rockefeller Plaza and Central Park, so it all worked out nicely.

Laundry is in the dryer (laundromat down the street and not in the hotel, which is a slight pain but not that big a deal), and after that I shall enjoy a Sunday of chillage before beginning my final irk week here.

Mrs W has been sending me kitty pics while I’ve been gone. So with all the cat talk, and the theme of this week’s MMP, I thought I’d share a couple. Enjoy!

Yeeeeeoch! Not the way to start the week. Yikes.

Going with Ben and Jerry’s for breakies. Trying to work up to getting the sorting started.

Jtc, I’m glad you had a great memory call with your mum. Those are precious times.

Ten stitches. Waiting for discharge instructions. Pics on FB.

Whoa. Get some painkiller in before the numbing wears off. Is it the itchy leg?

Blitz und Donner this morning. Raining hard at the moment. Made a batch of biscuits and took a couple down to the dining room to help myself to the sausage gravy, which was more like sausage soup, but tasted fine.

The wife woke up feeling puny, but a covid test was negative.

Home. I’ve popped some tylenol and ibuprofen and in a bit, I’ll get into my recliner. I feel so bad that we couldn’t do what we wanted to do on the boat. FCD went back to try to do things himself.

The pastor and his wife from the church MIL has attended have dropped in - I’m avoiding being with them but they’ll be leaving soon. It’s a comfort for her but uncomfortable for me.

So here’s the final product

Allie was suffering from rather significant health impacts from the effects of fleas, and has apparently lost a fair amount of weight from that.  Now that we have the fleas under control, I think it is clear that Allie is recovering from the effects thereof, and like Buddy, has a lot of eating to do, to put back on the weight that she has recently lost.

FCM, condolences for the injury. My former manager had a boat, and she went through an open hatch and broke her leg.

Pretty kitties, everyone!
