(Old) About your favorite pet in the MMP

Out of the county, even!

Well, we ventured forth to pie country, got stuck in construction holdups, and finally made it to the tiny town about two hours. Unknown to us was that they were having an art festival this weekend. Must have been a hundred cars parked all along the highway. Chances of pies: zero. Took a different route coming back, but it still took us an hour and a half. Exhausting for these geezers. The wife did manage to spend a hundred bucks on some lavender products.

Then the day was not a total waste!

Bella seems to be settling right in.

and she had time to pose for a glamor shot before taking a little nap.

Imgur

She thinks that gooshy fud is pretty gud stuff and eats as much as she can, then goes and takes a little bath or nap and then goes back for more. (Hubs gave her the same amount he gives GG, of course she couldn’t eat it all at once.) She was raised on kibble so when Hubs brought her dinner in, she said she thinks she’s going to like it here.

Tomorrow Hubs will be going to Lowes for a rubber door stop so we can open the door enough for them to see each other and then a day or so later, we will open it further so Bella can go out when she feels comfortable, but GG can’t come in and overwhelm her. He’s also getting some spray bottles because we have another kitten who needs to learn some house manners.

Appendages crossed.

I remember watching it on our B&W TV and neighbor boys Timmy and Jerry in our living room with us.

Monkey is a beautiful boy!

She looks so dainty! Happy gotcha Bella!

I wish we’d get some of the rain that you and metal mouse are. We were supposed to get some yesterday, but, no. Then, this afternoon, but only got thunder. I’ll water my plants again tonight.

I did some paper quilting this afternoon, although nothing in hippy’s league, then take a chainsaw and hack off his feet trimmed Nelson’s nails. He was rewarded with some duck jerky and a trip to the dog park.

Afterwards, we went to Popeye’s. Davonte was working the drive thru, so he greeted Nelson by name and gave him a tender. A couple of weeks ago, I did the survey. While I didn’t mention the treat for Nelson, I did praise Davonte for not only being friendly and courteous, but even greeting my dog by name (Nelson’s name is in big letters on his tag). I love it when he’s working.

JtC Glad to see Bella settling in.

flyboy I think you’ve inspired my tomorrow morning breakfast. I got biscuits and (locally made) sausage in the freezer.

I achieved mowage. I let it go a little long, so more like hayage. I’m down to 1 of 4 working mowers. I wish I knew more about motors, cuz the rider will start, but not stay going. Internal combustion engine is not my strong suit.

Since my last doc visit, he said my BP was high, I got a BP cuff. I checked right before mowing-115/80, after, 145/95.

Our cat is a Fancy Feast chicken/gravy addict.

It’s getting better, as I can stretch my arm to a greater distance now.

And an early evening to y’all. Did get to the gym for some major cycling to nowhere, then decided I would have Sunday dinner on Saturday (may make it a habit, the calories just work out better that way) at Logan’s Roadhouse, then since it was across the street, stopped at Five Below, which is…eclectic, but nothing much I needed. Did stop at Wal-Mart, my gym locker locks have gone missing so I bought a couple more, which means the others will show up in the next day or so. Also paid my Home Insurance bill for the year (went up about $200, need to check around for next year). And that pretty well completed the day, will sloth and try not to add anymore calories in the next 4 hours or so.

Cookie, exhausting it might have been, but it got you out of the place and around the area, so call it a win.

JtC, Bella is a beauty and I’m sure she’ll be beatin’ on old GG just like her departed predecessor did in no time.

Nettie, glad the cats are feeling…well, like cats again.

Shoe, that’s quite a nice picture of Monkey, for a moment I thought his fur was turning white. And yeah, you don’t need a rat population explosion right now.

doggio, let me tell ya boy, there ain’t no easy run… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vws8lMWQ_cc And thanks for the Babylon 5 clip, one of these days I’m going to find it and binge watch the whole damn show (and just looked, it’s on Amazon Prime, so need to bookmark that).

lily, looks like you’re really well-stoned (well, somebody was going to say it…). Should look great.

VanGo, will take your advice and avoid Lyme disease; hopefully the feets will keep improving.

flyboy, sounds like a fun day out.

Yeah Cupcakes!!

And that’s all I wrote. All y’all take care.

The sneezing started at 7:30, stopping anything that awakens the dust.

Lager and koritza both enjoy fancy feast and tiki cat.

We watched it on our grandmother’s color TV and I was pretty confused it being B&W because I knew the earth should be white, blue and green. Those were some exciting times.

I called Mom and reminded her what we were doing that day. She wouldn’t have known that this was the anniversary (but I didn’t remember until it was brought up) but she she did when I told her. We had a nice memory filled talk, twas nice.

She is so very tiny, but she is only 9 months old and wasn’t really fed that well in the past. I’m hoping she will get big enough to reach GG’s head so she can properly smack him around, he’s used to having a little kitty tell him what to do.

Hubs thought that GG wasn’t enjoying his gooshy fud so stopped buying fancy feast and ordered some Solid Gold fud. GG thinks it is some pretty good stuff, I wish it was cheaper than gold, but whatever.

We got rain!

It came down pretty steady for about 45 minutes, so I won’t need to water plants for a couple of days. It even stopped so’s I won’t have to put Nelson in his ducky slicker or me in my glow-in-the-dark rain poncho.

I napped. It rained. Spot licked my head. I’m having a Sazarac and watching F1 practice.

< crosses appropriate and inappropriate appendages >

Scattered, covered, chunked, and peppered.

Sorry about the lack of pies, Cookie. Maybe next time consult the Magic 8-Ball before going on a quest.

I have no idea what those two meowing menaces to my blood pressure are up to lately. I can almost see where the steroid Buddy’s on might increase his appetite, but Allie is not on any sort of medication, and she’s just as bad!

She’s not as, ahem, “assertive” (read, gets right in the human’s face) as Buddy is about “requesting” samples of human food, extra servings of canned gunk, etc., but she has her own ways of communicating about it. They’re both putting back some of the weight they’d both been shown to have lost in a rather too short time without any intent on our part, which is good. I just hope the appetites calm down soon!

Happy Saturday!

A nice morning in the low 70s today. Quite a few dogs showed up at the park.
My son took Echo out since she was getting pissy with a Great Dane. I think she would have settled down, but he wanted her out. I told him to leave the GR as I wanted to see how they would do with a bigger group. Misiu followed him out and Rayleigh flopped at my feet.
I guess they are okay with a bigger group of dogs. Both of them were tired and ready to go home.

I told my son I wanted to get some major cleaning done this weekend.
Today we did the living room. There really wasn’t much to do in there, but unpack a few boxes that were still in there and put some stuff away. There’s a few more things to put away, but I don’t know where we are going to put them, yet. I need to put a rug in there since there is a slight echo.
This house is supposed to be slightly bigger than the one we moved from, but it sure seems smaller.
Tomorrow, we’ll do the kitchen and dining room. That should be fairly quick.
Moonday, will be my office, which is a clutter-fuck. I hate clutter, but I am moving stuff around and not getting anything put away. I have too much stuff for the available space.

No good productive act goes unpunished, Shoe.
I usually clean out the fridge every trash day, but I let it go for a few weeks. I should have known something would go wrong.
Like washing your car insures it will rain.

Swampy, we didn’t mean to spill the beans to the younger cousins. It just came up in conversation and all three of them were like WHAT? WHO? WHAT COUSIN? They didn’t even know that our grandfather’s first wife and younger son died in the flu epidemic. They didn’t know their father had a half-brother.
I found my cousin’s info and was tempted to write to him in prison, but then I thought about him getting my address off the envelope and did I really want a career criminal knowing my address.
He might have been an okay person and would have been happy to hear from family, or he might have had a f’ off attitude, or he may have tried to exploit the situation.
He died a few years ago, so I can’t do anything now.

It makes me feel a little weird to think that if my grandfather’s first wife hadn’t died from the flu, I wouldn’t be here.

I weeded one small, empty side bed where I have the neighbor’s permission to reach through their plants to grab their weeds as well. That may become the rudbeckia area.

I cleaned up the bed I’m hoping to make more attractive, dug a small trench for placing a row of stones to anchor more stones behind them, and planted a lavender, a coneflower, a white sage, and a variegated thyme. I potted up another thyme because I want to see where the irrigation hits with these new additions. My hope is to plant this bed pretty thickly.

My lovely wife gave the fence a wash and may do more. We hope to restain it next week. After that, I can put down underlayment to around 18" from the fence and cover it with pebbles. Lilacs, roses (maybe), and jasmine (maybe) in one corner, hydrangea elsewhere, grass (‘n’ weeds) in the rest of it for now. Once we’re to that point, we’ll decide if we want a few raised beds or will stick with containers.

Hmph. Decided on the local diner - I usually get a patty melt, but decided a BLT was more appropriate for summer weather.

Shoulda gone with the patty melt. Who puts shredded lettuce on a BLT? I want whole leaves of butter lettuce, thankyouverymuch!

Yeah, Monks keeps smoking all my weed. Lil’ bastards!

When I read all that, I thought, “That poor cat must be so traumatized!” but reading on, I guess … not.

What a resilient soul.

Then after a houseful of grown-ass cats, I doubt GG is gonna scare her.
She’ll be fine.

I briefly tried to map this out in my head and promptly gave up.

“Go, go, Gadget … ARMS!!!”

:musical_note: Inspector Gadget! :notes:

We have, uh, skedaddled past that point already.

That’s okay, they take forever to grow to Pretzel-feedin’ size and pretty much stop reproducing during colder (shorter daylight length) days, so I’m sure by mid-February I’ll have the opposite problem.

{ goes into rat room }
{ tries to count how many dozens of pairs of eyeballs just looked up }
{ attempts back-of-envelope calculation for future progeny }
{ remembers has shitty mental math skillz }

February will be fine.

That’s definitely been the plan all along. An increase in work load and decrease in energy levels, however, have lately put a damper on these ambitious plans …

Oh, I get their gooshy-fud for Monks sometimes. I like the short ingredients list.

{ looks up Solid Gold }

:open_mouth:

There’s gotta be a happy medium between the two!

(ETA: what, Tiki not good enough?)

As someone who adores glow-in-the-dark things (and pedestrians who make themselves safely visible to drivers) I’m curious.

… do you look like a ghost while wearing it? (If so, do you ever f@#$ with people? If so, and if not, why not?)

Do you hafta “charge” it ahead of time? Like those old-skool stickers that you held under a lamp for a while …

I’m picturing a whole-body-covering poncho made out of the same material they used for those star stickers I had on my ceiling as a kid … is that what it’s like?

Dogs really have no concept of “relative size,” do they?

That was - is - me moving from a sprawling Texas 3-bedroom into this little hobbit-hole.

I don’t have advice, but I do have sympathy. (There’s a long-running “decluttering support” thread around here that I’ve found helpful, and occasionally, even inspiring!)

This should have its own law name, a la Murphy.

That is, indeed, a disquieting thought to ponder.

Then again, it just occurred to me that we all probably have those "what if"s in our past … most of us just don’t know about 'em.

I gotta improve my reading comprehension skillz, because I was wondering how the hell - and why - someone would, or could, restrain an inanimate object.

… the irony of restraining a fence, though.

Whelp, it’s midnight, so this Cinderella needs to figure out dinner, and also this damn SIM card replacement cuz my mother started bugging me while I was still at work about not having gotten it done yet.

I’ve been really busy the last couple of weeks dealing with job search, rent issues, apartment hunting, etc. that I needed a little more diversion than just falling asleep on the couch so I went for a brisk little hike today in Forest Park (the largest wilderness park completely within a city limits in the nation … or something like that).

There’s this cool trail that’s only like two miles long and you can scooter to the trail-head. It’s a all downhill and comes out in a suburban neighborhood. I went hardcore and hiked it down and then back up again. It was a beautiful day in the 80’s but the breeze was pleasant.

This is a little stone hovel along the trail that’s advertised as Witch’s House, an abandoned stone building in the woods. It’s basically a party spot for kids. I suppose it used to be quaint, now it’s littered with liquor bottles and graffiti but I thought it looked cool.

Oh yeah, they’re both feeling better. Much colorful language between them, Buddy’s chased Allie a bit, Allie’s swatted at him a few times. Buddy is also generally a bit vocal this evening. At least my lap has been briefly occupied a couple of times, by his choice. Been a while since he’s shown any interest in the lap.

I do wish they’d quit hassling each other, though. DH is in bed, why can’t one of them be content to be in there helping him sleep?

Nice area for a walk. I’m glad you broke away for it.

That is very cool! :sunglasses:
