(Old) Airmail in the MMP

Manual, in my case. It’s a weight loss program…Electro typistas welcome.

I picked up this little guy in my counsellor’s waiting room.

I showed her my “Journal,” which is just a collection of my MMP posts. She loved that you all were so supportive. I also told her that I was trying to take baby steps[1], and she said that was a good idea, so the people I want to take with me can keep up.

Anyhow, thank you all for being supportive… Unless you’re playing the long game. I mean, aside from a few total dipsticks, I am dealing with the smartest, hippest guys on the planet. Cecil said so.

  1. Even though I want to go racing forward with everything!!! ↩︎

The inspector said “Never mind” after he discovered that our registration documentation was wrong. We had no idea! So FCD has to make an appointment with the state Dept of Natural Resources to get it fixed. Luckily, there’s an office right there in Solomons. So after we do that and get the mast and lights installed, he’ll try again.

I spent close to THREE HOURS ironing! I decided instead of just ironing the curtains flat, I’d redo the pleats that were originally there. Hence the long time. But they look good, and we’ll install them tomorrow. I hope.

Supper will be a quiche with potatoes for the crust instead of a pie crust. I thought I’d had an original idea till I looked on line to see if there was a recipe. Yep, there are. I picked one and that’s what I’m trying. Actually, I kinda combined elements of two, so we’ll see how it comes out.

Meanwhile, I have some chillage time.

Good afternoon everyone and what a beautiful day it has been. It was foggy this morning then the sun came out for a while and now we just finished having a nice half inch downpour. Now the clouds are breaking and the birds are back out looking for dinner.

Yesterday I was so proud of myself for remembering to get overseas postage that I forgot to get post card stamps. the nice lady at the post office couldn’t find any single post card stamps and only had rolls. She also said she could meter them if I had them with me, and of course I didn’t.

I made it out to my car and figured out that stamps never go bad and I send 10-15 post cards a year…and went back in and bought a roll. She had to go find them as well, apparently folks out here don’t send a lot of post cards or overseas mail. Its not like it was any different in AZ and this is a more rural area so not that much of a surprise.

I think I’m going to try to send Mom post cards from our tourist places, I can’t really get good pictures because there isn’t anywhere to stop and take them.

Sounds like something I might have considered back when I was young.

I killed an iron by turning it on without noticing that it was full of ants. We were in the middle of a drought and the ants came in the house looking for water. I managed to remove them and stop the incursion but didn’t notice the trail leading into the closet and up the wall to the iron because wasn’t looking and didn’t have the lights on.

The iron still heated, but didn’t smell very good. I might have tried flavored water if it had been a thing back then.

Good. Returns are the reason I fell into the Amazon trap so quickly but bad habits are easy to make and hard to break.

If you are a fan of that sort of thing, you are going to love it! It’s worthy of a Barnum and Bailey sideshow all of its own  Be sure and let me know if you go, I’ll meet up with you and go again

Happy birthday Squeaky. I’m sorry I’m leaving you such a fucked up world. Please be kinder to it than we were.

Pineapple upside down cake and noodles with cubes of fried SPAM.

I think that chaotic gardening is great. It matches my style so well!

Oh…now the power is flickering. Its been very stable this year, but this has been a pretty wild storm. I should go before I lose everything. Have great evenings everyone.

FCM what a beautiful boat!!

@Misnomer welcome back and I hope you enjoy the new place! It sounds like it could be a good change for you. Also, what a pain to have to deal with the street closure, but like you said at least you heard about it in time.

red not good news about the toe. I hope the treatment works quickly and do be sure to mention your recent bout with c.diff as antibiotics can kick that off again.

boofae good luck with the heat wave, it sounds miserable.

Mollie I just want to say thank you for including us on your journey - I’m learning a lot reading your posts, and I appreciate your willingness to share.

It’s been nice and fairly quiet around here. The Thunder beat the Spurs last night and just need to win one more game to go to the finals. Fingers crossed! Then I filled out and sent my postcards for the exchange over lunch. Work was dead so I quietly slipped out accidentally left early at the same time the bigwigs were also leaving. Nothing to see here folks, it’s totally normal for me to be leaving at this time…

I have exercised and beat the rain showers home by about 45 minutes, so I sit here typing as I listen to those old raindrops fall… Will fix some soup and sammiches here in a little bit and that should take care of the evening munchies.

Mollie, hope Squeaky has a good time on his travels. And lovely lil’ dinosaur!

FCM, ah, nothing like paperwork to foul up your inspection. As for potlucks, I usually brought brownies and rather hoped they would mostly get eaten so I didn’t have to do all by myself…heheheheh.

Cookie, didn’t even know Amazon had food delivery, some of the local stores do it, but I’ve never used the service…yet. Glad you could get credit for the broken eggs.

JtC, no fog, but we had sunny weather here until about an hour ago, then the rains came (and are supposed to depart in another hour or so). My total stamp collection is 14 stick-em Forever stamps and they’ll probably last me until 2027. And an ant fricasee ala steam iron… Hope you still have power, my Direct (satellite) TV usually starts to flicker just before the weather gets real bad, then it locks up completely.

52, nice move to be leaving with the big shots…well played.

And about time for that soup and sammich dinner, so take care and onward into the evening hours.

I will be bringing that up. If the risk is too great, I may have to go with amputation at the the top joint.

52 I’m just doing it for the little rush I get when someone supports me.

He lives in my wallet now.

Best wishes, Red.

Howdy Y’all! We procured and stowed provisions and got fried chikin plates for lunch. Nappage and day drinkin’ then ensued. It’s been off and on rainy since mid afternoon, but no storms like TWPTB said there could be. Now I shall go see whatup on teh intartoobz.

Sticky_Buns hope you got to feelin’ better before skool started.

MOOOOOOM Young Girl by Gary Puckett and the Union Gap is one of the creepiest songs ever.

SCAD once I found the alarm clock there would be nuttin’ stoppin’ me from takin’ a sledge hammer to it.

Oopsie YIKES! Glad you found out about the street work and were able to re-schedule stuff. Hooray for theFiOS transfer the day before. The property manager sounds like someone on top of things. As to the resignation, well, even though the timin’ sucks, at least you don’t have to fire her. Hope security has the laptop and badge. Good luck at the dentist.

Taters I hear ya about yahd irk. I want to do it in the mornin’ and have nuttin’ else to do later in the day. I must have time to recuperate after all that toil and labor! Hope all goes well with the meetin’ about your mom.

Mollie maximum embarrassment of the offspring is a perk of parenthood. Or so I have heard, since I ain’t a ‘rent. Yay for gettin’ to present at counselin’! I shall put Monstrum on my watch list. Looks like a lot of fun to watch. The dino sticker is just soooooo keeyoote! I am glad your therapist loved our support of you. That’s what we do best in the MMP.

doggio there are some people who are encouraged not to bring edible stuffs to potlucks. There’s even a select few who are *banned from bringin’ edible stuffs to potlucks. Someone has to bring the ice and the cups.

cookie glad you were able to get your CC credited for the broken aigs.

Nuts hope the fire alarms installation is accomplished with minimal inconvenience. Also, some people should never operate appliances.

JtC ants in the iron! EEK! Also, fascinatin’ that they found that as a source of water.

red hope the treatment on the toe works and good idea re discussin’ the recent bout of c.diff.

Spot napped with me. If you consider wedging his foot in my right ear, and spit shining his genitals “napping”. I’m up now, having a martini and watching hockey. Avs got swept last night, so the winner of this series gets to go to Sin City. No, not that one, the one in the desert. Dinner tonight is three cheese tortellini and meatballs.

Plus me.

:open_mouth:

I was thinking suppressed 9mm, but you do you.

The permanent crown appointment went smoothly, and I got to work at a little after 11am. I went right into a meeting, followed immediately by two more, and then I was finally able to sit down with the analyst who supports the project my former employee was managing (the analyst also works for me). My day job is to maintain a thousand-foot-view of all of our projects, but I’ll be stepping in as acting project manager until I hire a backfill so I need to do a deeper dive on this one. I’ll be able to really jump in tomorrow.

I’m aware of the new dental work, but luckily so far there hasn’t really been any pain. (:crossed_fingers:) I took some Tylenol as the lidocaine was wearing off, but otherwise I haven’t needed to take anything…which is a relief, because for the two weeks I had the temporary crown there was always significant gum pain 15-20 minutes after I’d talk for any longer than a minute or two (like after a meeting or a phone call). The doc said that was likely due to slight shifting of the temporary crown while talking, but the permanent one would fit much better. So far, so good!

It’s 8:30pm, and I’m starting to feel the fact that I’ve been up for almost 16 hours. I will likely go to bed early. Hopefully I’ll be able to sleep well tonight, now that (a) the crown is done, (b) the day-after-the-move stuff is rescheduled, and (c) the first 24 hours after my employee’s abrupt resignation are over (Security did have her stuff, BTW).

Unpacking is my favorite part of moving: I love organizing my space and figuring out where things will go. And kitchens are easy for me, because I don’t cook so I don’t really care where most things go. I pretty much just have to pick the silverware drawer.

Thank you. :two_hearts: FWIW, I still remember Polar!

HA! Now I have to remember to steal that, too!

:raised_hand:

(In all seriousness, though, I have been lurking in these threads and I have a message for Mollie: :red_heart: :orange_heart: :yellow_heart: :green_heart: :blue_heart: :purple_heart: :pink_heart:)

I’m in a hotel in Marlboro, MA. We visited a museum that made everyone feel better about ours. Tomorrow is Boston museum of science, I doubt that will leave the same impression. I haven’t been there since roughly 1986. But I loved it then.

Typing on my phone cuz I cleverly remembered my laptop, but not the charger. Go me…

OMG Guys! There are fireflies flickering in my deadhedge!!! Its not even a year old and its already doing what I want. I should expand it into the poison ivy zone in the hopes that Hubs doesn’t try to cut the poison ivy down again. It going to die back in the winter anyhow.

I’m super excited about the fireflies, I just did a little bit to improve the world for a few bugs. That’s a plus in my book.

Holy cow, I forgot about that. I’ve already been sending good thoughts, now I’m sending a LOT of good thoughts.

Our water company charges a three dollar “convenience” fee for paying online, so we mail them a check monthly because we are all cheap and stuff.

I really did to think about it for a few minutes before buying a hundred post card stamps. I am fairly sure that I will use them before I kick the bucket, just having them handy will inspire me to send more cards to folks.

GMTA, I did as well

Desert critters can smell water from a long ways away.

See…a hammer would be much more cathartic, plus you wouldn’t need to patch walls.

:joy: :joy:

I’m sure you have a perfectly lovely museum!

I did say, “a few total dip sticks.”

Thank you.

I’m assuming all her logins and such have been disabled so she can’t get into systems remotely to cause trouble?

And it’s after 9pm so after a couple more internet visits, it’ll be off to bed. Since my ‘big’ vacation was in April, I was looking around for something for July, there is a Hawaiian Island cruise but that runs to big bucks, I could take the train from Chicago to LA which I’ve never done, but bedroom accomodations on Amtrak ain’t cheap, and a 4 night stay in Vegas is doable, but the flights are most 2-stop and not cheap. So still thinking about it.

Rain is gone and it’s 73F so good sleeping weather tonight.

red, best wishes for the toe and hope nothing needs to be lopped off.

doggio, looks like the Hurricanes are having success so far…but a period remains…

Oopsie, glad your head is easy about wearing the crown… Get a good night’s rest now.

VanGo, enjoy the museum. Did you find a place to eat around there yet?

JtC,

And in mine. Well done.

And it’s 9:15pm so even with only 13 hours or so logged without nappage, I’m ready to get to bed, so all y’all take care and I’ll catch up tomorrow.

One of those things that you only share after a G&T or three. Today, my counselor mentioned that she saw I had been able to correct[1] my name in the billing and scheduling system. Her words were something like, “Oh good, ‘Mollie’ was able to change her name.” She’s been calling me “Mollie” for a couple of months, but today was the first time I’d ever heard myself referred to as “her” in the third person.

I noticed and liked it.

More evidence I’m on the right road.

I really hope Mrs Magill can join me on it.

  1. I almost wrote "changed, but my name is really “Mollie,” so I’m sticking with correct. ↩︎

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave. It’s 71 degrees Ferret Height(21.667 Centipedes)

We prefer to be called “Lubricant Measurement Rods”

4-0 final. Now they only have to do it 5 more times in the next two weeks. No pressure.

Me, too.

JtC in fairness I will willingly bet that the instructions didn’t say nothin’ about operating the iron while filled with ants. And yay for fireflies! I’d much rather have a scruffy chaos garden with magic sparkly flying things than a tidy boring one. We do have glow worms in the UK, but they’re really rare in Scotland and besides, there’s street lights everywhere here, so not gonna get any however nice I make the garden for them. I’m debating adding a pond- it’ll be tricky as there’s a fairly steep slope in most of the space, but mosquitos aren’t really an issue here and it might get me some nice frogs that will eat all the slugs, and maybe some dragonflies.

Tis currently overcast and feeling a little chilly, but the sun is supposed to make an appearance soon.
