(Old) Alexa, start the MMP

Well, damn. My son just let me know that they had to put their oldest dog down. It’s not unexpected, as she was 18, amazingly old for a medium-sized dog, but she had the most endearing, perpetually perplexed face. She reminded me a little of doggio’s Gordy, as she, too, was a Princess Pretty Paws about rain. She was from Texas, rescued by law enforcement, and she never got used to all the rain here. I’ll miss her.

I was coming back from a doctor’s appointment when I saw a fire engine drive, lights flashing, into my complex. My immediate thought: What did I leave on?" Anyway, it turned out to be for the maintenance guy. The secretary found him unconscious on the floor of the maintenance shed. She normally doesn’t go looking for him, but she had an odd feeling. Anyway, he’d been like that for an hour. He was able to talk (slightly slurred) when I walked by, but the manager told the EMT’s he’s pre-diabetic, has high BP, and also has nerve damage in his leg. It sounds to me like diabetes, especially because he ate a donut this morning, but the EMT’s were thinking maybe a stroke. Anyway, he’s a nice guy who works very hard. I hope he’s OK.

Add me to the Not Much Sleep Club. I woke up a little after midnight freezing cold. I’d been warm and cozy when I fell asleep, and I hadn’t changed the thermostat, but I was really, really cold, so cold that I didn’t want to get up for an extra blanket because I was already shivering hard. After a couple hours, I did get back to sleep and woke up feeling fine. Weird.

JtC, I’m so glad hub’s surgery went well and that he’s making a good recover!

shoe, so glad you got to be on the receiving end of good works! Those are some nice neighbors.

That’s a good way to put it. I had to have a root canal six years ago. My regular dentist, Dr. C., spent two hours on that tooth but couldn’t get far enough into it, so he sent me to an endodontist. Dr. C. said, “No charge,” even though it took 2 hours of his time, anesthetic, etc. When I thanked him, he said, “Oh, wait’ll you see HIS bill! You’ll understand.” (Still VERY nice of him!) Anyway, WITH dental insurance, it was $800, paid upfront. Toward the end, the endodontist asked if I wanted an antibiotic rinse. I said OK. “That’ll be another $100.” !! I wanted to ask how much for the air I’d breathed.

The tangled root sounds painful. Will they give you pain meds for after?

7:40. I can’t stay awake any longer. Off to bed.
