the i need to build an ark MMP....

Ok as yall know i live in the desert and most years you can count on one hand the rain days in a year

Well between el nino and the “cyclone bomb” of a few weeks ago its getting to be where ya can count the non snowy and rainy days on one hand … So if it rains/snows anymore i’mma need an ark soon because the standing water isnt drying up like usual …
so plans buckets or boats are acceptable …

First!

Do we hafta take two Flytraps on the ark? :o

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 60 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 76 and cloudy for the day. The big plan of the day is to spiff da cave. Sup shall be my world famous Eyetalian chikin with side vegetative matter TBD. Not feelin’ inspired right now. Also I have Vestry meetin’ tonight. Rah.

Shades here’s a blueprint for an (the?) Ark. Take it to your favorite local lumber supply place and I am sure they will be more than happy to fill the order. If you do feel the need to take two of everything with you, please consider leavin’ out skeeters, gnats, and roaches.

Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Then, onward into the day. Rah.

Happy Moanday Y’all!

Morning. A feeling of dread has descended upon me. I don’t wanna go to irk.

Blurf

lol heres a q …you get to pick 50 people from the sdmb to take with ya …who do ya pick?

Good morning everyone. Old retired guy here, infuriating the young’uns by getting up early even though I don’t have to. I like to smile at 'em and say “I slept an hour later today! I usually get up at 4:30!” (true statement, actually)

Got my coffee, will eventually continue last week’s task of cleaning out years worth of accumulation, detritus, and unfiled documents in our home “office”.

My new anchor line should come in today, if UPS can be believed. Hopefully I’ll get a chance to begin reinstalling it and the new anchor. Why am I getting a new anchor you ask? Cuz 3 weeks ago the line broke and the anchor and 100 feet of chain slithered over the bow and into davy’s locker. So I begin a journey of discovery learning, among other things, it’s stupid expensive to ship heavy objects (half the charges were shipping).

Happy Moonday!

Killing some time before leaving for the park. I’ve decided to go a bit later, when it might be a few degrees warmer.
Right now it is a balmy 37 degrees outside, so shouldn’t be so bad.

Got three loads of laundry done yesterday, well, almost done, as the last one is in the dryer now.
Only 3-4 more to go, being as how I haven’t done any laundry in over a week. Good thing the only place I go is the dog park so it doesn’t matter if I wear the same clothes more than one day.
I still have sheets, and towels, and wash cloths, and socks, and a few more clothes that wouldn’t fit in the washer.

Other then the dog park and irking, don’t know what else I’m doing today. Probably some laundry, but I’m not pressed to get any of it done.

Rainy night here, and rainy afternoon ahead. I’ve tidied the kitchen and started the dishwasher, plus the usual morning critter chores, and I just finished breakfasting. **FCD **took his car back to the shop - they replaced his headlights, but the left front doesn’t have a low beam. They have to get one in (in a few hours) so he came home, but no sooner did he pull out of the shop’s parking lot, he was pulled over. “Do you know your headlight is out?” “Why, yes, officer, as a matter of fact, I do!” So he’s got a ticket that he has to get signed off, then either mail in or find a cop to verify the repair.

Not sure what my plans are, ahead of my last 3 work days.

**pullin **- what do (did?) you have anchored? You reminded me of an anchor-related fiasco from some eons past.

There was an outdoor concert in downtown Jacksonville near the St. Johns River, and a bunch of us were anchored nearby to hear (if not see) the performance. The water was 30-ish feet deep and the current was fairly strong, since the river narrowed there.

A nearby ski boat, populated by several 20-somethings, decided they needed to move. But rather than haul up the anchor, one bright individual decided he’d lie on the bow, holding the anchor line, and drag it to their new location. Can you say “Unclear on the concept”??

Needless to say, the line slipped from his paws and that was the end of their evening at the concert. We figured the boat probably belonged to a parent, and the offspring was probably going to be read the riot act.

And that’s why boat operators should be required to be tested and licensed. The end.

Happy Moanday!!

Well, we need something to eat the spiders…
Morning all. 57F going to 65F today, but it’s going to get wet this evening and all day 2Day, so while I won’t be in shady’s ark-building mood, I will have a good excuse (for once) to stay inside.

Never been boating (at least not since I was a little kid) so never had to worry about losing an anchor.

FCM, FCD proves once again that the road to heck is paved with good intent…

pullin (and we need to get you an MMP name–pull in=yank so what about yankers all)? If somebody has a better idea, put it out there.

Butters, a premonition of dread can only be beaten by staying in bed and eating chocolate. Good luck.

Sari, I do 5-6 loads a laundry a month, of course I don’t have the boy in the house adding to the pile.

All y’all have a good week and finish up your Xmas shopping.

My brother and his long-time best friend have the ultimate crotchety old fart relationship. They fish, drink beer, help one another with household and mechanical tinkering, gossip, argue, etc. I’d say my brother is Jack Lemmon to Ray’s Walter Matthau.

Recently, the two of them took Ray’s boat and went to the river to wet lines. They’d bickered all the way to the chosen fishing spot. When Ray stood up to throw anchor, Bo started to say something, eliciting “I’m the captain of THIS boat. You shut up!”

“Aye aye.”

A few minutes later, “Why are we still drifting?”

“'Cause the captain didn’t tie his new anchor line to the boat.”

Much blue language.

Meanwhile, foggy start to the day here. Kids off to school, the Bitter Half off to a doctor’s appointment. Cave cleaning should be on today’s agenda, but this cold is still kicking my rear end. Will probably do what I can, make a crock pot of chili for dinner, and drive out to see the Christmas lights with the girls tonight.

Awoke this AM to the sound of water pouring down the downspouts, but nothing hitting the roof. It seems the January thaw has begun, and the Global Warming that fell last week is phase changing to liquid.
Rah.

Rogers Dry Lake fills up every year. I remember driving to work one day, and someone had put a 3- or 4-foot high shark fin out in the water. :stuck_out_tongue:

BItter Half?

Tell FCD to take the car to the police station to get the repair order signed off. Once I did that and the police officer bitched at me the whole time about disturbing him. I told him if you don’t want to sign off on repair orders then you shouldn’t write them. Don’t bitch at because you have to do your job.

I don’t do my son’s laundry **MetalMouse. ** He started doing his own as soon as he could reach the washer, I doubt he’d let me if I tried. Although I do wash the towels and washcloths, so I guess he generates a bit extra. I also have a very small washer, so what is 2-3 loads in mine is probably one load in yours. My son would love a big washer like his grandmother has, he could do all his clothes in one load at her house. I don’t mind the smaller washer because I like to do a lot of sorting.

New puppy at the park this morning, and Ripple was a total dickhead. He is never that way with a new dog, he was growling and snarling, but two minutes later they were playing. I told the guy that we have a pretty good group in the mornings and then Lily went after the new puppy. A few minutes later they were wrestling and having a great time. Then my baby Echo went after Lily and somebody grabbed Lily to pull her off of Echo, only Echo kept going after Lily until I grabbed her. Don’t know what was up with them today.
One regular at the park hasn’t shown up in over a week, and we are all getting worried. I’ve texted him several times and no answer. He was last there on Thanksgiving morning and he was heading out to his mother’s for the day. He was supposed to come back that night, and nobody has seen or heard from him. I read that there was a 58 car pile-up out that way the Sunday after Thanksgiving, I hope he wasn’t in it. He told me his last name but I can’t remember it, so I can’t look him up to see if he is okay.

Happy Monday, mumpers! I have been largely absent for a while, life’s been…well,…life-ish! Been busy, had a lot going on, and generally haven’t had much time for anything when I’m at work, then don’t feel like reading anything on the laptop at night.

Have I missed much?

The goat and the squid had to go to the vet. Nothing major, they’re just getting old.

Also, yes. Bitter half. He’s stuck with me, after all.

I don’t even know 50 Dopers to take on the ark. There are ones I wouldn’t take… None of those are mumpers though.

Choosing 50 wouldn’t be an issue for me. My family and friends would get the first seats. Since about half of them are Trump supporters, I doubt that there are 50 dopers willing to share the same ark with them.

Hey, I wanna go on the Ark. Can I get a first class cabin, please.? Tell the steward to put fruit in there for me. Should I pack a bathing suit?
Siameezers are very excited. I got out the Nativity scene today. The grandwreks are helping me setting the scene, after scool. I got the manger together it’s setting in a bed of fake snow cloth (I know, I know but, the Thos.Kincade street lantern don’t look right without snow. The girls are bringing some figures to add. This oughta be great fun.
Hey, this is a very religious post, Ye, verily.
Of, course I feel evil. My TV is stuck on Jewish lifeTV. I’m beginning to like their doctrine. I wonder if corndogs are Kosher?
Oy vey.

Dreary, rainy day. I’m about to roust Roxy from her nap, else she won’t go to sleep at a decent hour tonight.

The intercoms work great - yay! Meanwhile, I’ve been afghaning and re-watching Hinterland. Gonna roast a chickie for supper - it’ll be bonus heat for the house.

OK, off to wake the babby!

Afternoon all. Did some serious furniture shopping, not just a ‘walk through as fast as I can’ visit. Got some pricing and did some figuring, everything fits in my budget.

Mattresses are the big thing, they can cost anywhere from $500 to $4000 dollars for a set. I’ll get a nice set for the bed I’ll been sleeping in the next 15-20 years, the spare room gets the ‘Motel 6’ grade mattress.

Think I might start a new thread on this issue. Your thoughts are welcome.

63F outside but cloudy and looks like it could rain most anytime. Think I’ll hang around the house the balance of the day.

Boofae!. Good of you to drop in, hope things are working well and you can stick around awhile.

All y’all take care now.
